Unusual Behaviors

Seeing Fox scrambling up from the ground, Aarias can't help himself but bend down and wrap a strong hand around his arm. Nearly pulling him off of the ground, Aarias helps him up. This warrior, sadly, still has to learn how to control his strength. Patting his shoulder, Aarias flickers his gaze to the sky, seeing a faraway falcon take flight into the air. Smiling, he starts to think of how graceful it must be to soar into the air. Being a bird, he concludes, must be quite a life. The possibility of this graceful falcon being a Kelvic never even crosses his mind as he thinks of 'a day in the life of a falcon'. Being able to perch on a tree, fly above the world and look down and also having feathers. Chuckling, Aarias turns his blue eyes back to Fox and helps him by clearing the dirt from his shoulders and then offering a strong handshake.

"Well met, Fox." The rush of feathers swoops past them and Aarias quickly locks onto the bird once more. Instead of being irritated by the sound, the warrior lets the unique call, the chi-chi-chi, sink into him. Air is sucked into his lungs and his relaxed eyes shut for a moment, the smile spreading across his face. Looking back to Fox, he shakes the man's hand and then adds more to their conversation. "Yes, everyone is rushing around trying to find supplies for their offering." His arm comes out, pointing to the flapping fabric at the nearby stall, "I'm heading over there - you're free to join me. I dare say that having some company on this joyous day will do me some good. I am Aarias Stormshadow of the Diamond Clan - Stormshadow pavilion." Seeing Fox's gaze turn back to the falcon, Aarias smirks, thinking he knows what the man is feeling, "Would you like to get a closer look at your bird? The elegance of a flying creature never pauses a moment to amaze me." His shoulder shrugging in the direction of the perched creature.

Studying the man before him, sunlight bouncing off Fox's black hair, causing the hue to change to a dark red in areas. Aarias, blinking, asks his next question with a collected tone, no longer distracted by the bird. Moving into the man's space, he wraps an arm around Fox's shoulders in a friendly gesture and leads him in the direction of the posted bird. "Do you live in Endrykas? If so, what clan are you a part of?" Scanning Fox's somewhat bulgy body, he tries and take in something that will lead him to know his friend's answer. A ring? Sash? Necklace? Anything... Smiling down at the fellow Drykas, Aarias soon lowers his arm, remembering that not everyone likes being lead around. Running a hand through his own long strands, he then ponders aloud. "What will you be making for the offering?" Chewing on his own lip for a moment, the Warrior seems puzzled on what he himself should be making.

Before long, if Fox doesn't change their direction, Aarias would indeed lead him to the post where Khida is perched. Glancing at her hooded face, he can't help but smile. "You truly are an elegant one!" He calls to her aloud, not even caring if it's just a bird. In Aarias' mind, she or he deserves a rightful compliment. "Do you see the hood the falcon has on?" Lifting up a hand, he makes a circle with a half open palm, not wishing to point and scare her away. "Beautiful ashen belly, sharp beak. Yes, she ... well, or he, is really a marvelous peregrine." Hoping that he is right, the Warrior straightens up a bit, peering up at the pole and waiting, watching as if something is going to occur. The sound of children screaming and playing comes to his ears but the warrior stands steadfast in admiration for the winged creature. "At least, I think it's a peregrine. Strong falcons. Yes, I am sure of it. Those bars on the belly and the hood... well, I hope my uncle taught me right or else I'm making a complete fool of myself." Chuckling, those blue eyes pan back to Fox, studying any reactions he might receive.

Unusual Behaviors

"Well met, Aarias. I myself hail from the Starseer Pavilion, which is also part of Diamond Clan" Fox said, shaking Aarias's hand. In his hair, in one of the braids was the answer, a small star and cresent moon shaped bit of metal, almost like a charm from an earring or charm braclet. "As for the offering, I'm not sure yet, but my mother has some feathers from her birds I could make into something" he added as they walked to the falcon perched nearby. He studied it closely. "Yes, indeed you are correct, peregrine falcon. My mother keeps a couple for the more experienced falconers, and I know this is not one of them" he said. He looked at the legs of the bird, the absence of the piece of cloth around one leg meant it didn't belong to his mother's business. He held his arm out to the falcon to see if it would come to him.

She tensed to take flight, pausing to give him a piercing, offended cry, and in another moment was winging to the air. She continued her definitive chirping as she arced above and banked to leave the camp altogether. The hunter watched her go, still completely puzzled; he had never seen her act in such a way before. He turned to look at the heart in his hand, then at the rest of the carcass, unsure what to do with it. Would she be offended if he did something with it? Did she want him to keep it? He didn’t want to leave it out for the insects to get at, but neither did he wish to raise her ire.

Perhaps it would be best to leave it to Slither. Yes, Slither could be responsible for cooking and keeping the meat, at least until she returned and the hunter could figure out just what it was she wished of him. But that could wait.

He put the heart back in the rabbit and rinsed his hands with some of the contents of his waterskin, then returned to his stave.

He set the knife to the bark once more, and once more the dark fiber was stripped away. Most of it was gone now, and so his mind wandered to what would make a suitable decoration. Almost immediately his mind went to the rabbit; perhaps dirt mixed with mud? He could make pictures, thanking her for the rabbit and the bounty, and for his survival in the crater. That seemed like a fine idea, indeed.

Unusual Behaviors

Ara came up beside the little boy, and squatted down beside him on her own hams, leaning in close to whisper in his ear. She looked - he stood close to a tent where a man worked on... something. A stick? Maybe a walking stick? She supposed, idly, someone must make them.

The little boy poked harder, and said, "Papa says, the worms in 'em are good for fishing."

Ara nodded and murmured soft again in the child's ear, and made a subtle sign across her belly, a sign that spoke of not taking, but creating.

"You can't make nothing outta worms and dung, though. and I don't want to make a stupid doll."

Ara sucked on her teeth and nodded, leaning in again to whisper to the child.

"I don't want to make a stupid horse, either. I don't want to make nothing. Making stuff is boring. I want to go watch the fighting like last year. The contest fighters, they don't make nothin'."

Ara nodded, and gestured pointing at the large, well-muscled fellow with the long stick, and whispered to the child again. She didn't know the fellow, and she closed her eyes a moment, not to really fully drop into the web, just the sort of casual peek one take in Endrykas, looking in to see who a stranger is, or figure out where to find a potter nearby. She peeked at the knot by his tent - who was this fellow? What was his pavilion? Practiced, if not expert, ears tuned for a moment into the humming musicality of the bustling web, her fingers invisibly twining with the threads of the cord she stood upon, sliding in between the fibers of it, to tug, ever so gently at the one leading into the man's tent. Not nosily, just common Drykas curiosity. Why ask a question if the answer is there already?

Unusual Behaviors

Postby Khida on April 15th, 2013, 10:48 pm

He stared after her, and was still staring when she turned to look back at him. She saw him turn away, looking down -- at the earth, at his hands, at the carcass she'd left behind; which of these, the falcon wasn't quite sure over such a distance. Her attention was distracted, then, by voices seeming louder or more directed than the usual market hubbub. Khida craned her head about to see the two men, the tall one and the not-quite-red-haired one, staring up at her. They approached the tent whose pole she perched upon, and the falcon regarded them with intense interest in return, standing steady as they talked about her.

Unfortunately, they spoke in Pavi; if Khida was familiar with even one of the words they used, it floated right past her, washed out of comprehension by the rest of their fluent discourse.

The shorter of the pair raised his arm in a gesture whose meaning eluded her at first. After a moment, the peregrine realized it might be some kind of summons, bidding her land on his wrist. But she wasn't his bird, to be so commanded; Khida simply blinked at them, then looked away, having decided their interest posed no immediate threat. Beyond the way, two others seemed to show interest in the hunter, but they were also of little import to her; the falcon's chief concern was in what he was doing...

...and he had gone back to fussing at the stick with his knife.

The falcon grumbled and fidgeted on her perch, then spread her wings and dropped from the pole, flapping just enough to keep her above the level of the tents. She flew back out the way she had come, past the girl and the child she accompanied, once more landing on the hunter's tent. Khida tipped her head to peer down at his work, whistling a single demanding query.

She wasn't prepared to give up trying just yet.

Fox lowered his arm when the falcon didn't come to him. Definately not one of my mother's birds, I wonder where it came from he thought. He followed the path the bird had taken, or as well as he could follow a bird flying low and fast. He heard a whistle of a falcon, and followed it to see if it was the bird he had been following.

Unusual Behaviors

Postby Aarias on April 25th, 2013, 3:06 pm

Hearing a call of his own, Aarias is quick to turn and see a waving hand gesturing him back. Turning back to the man and his bird, the warrior only frowns and places a hand on his shoulder. "I hate to leave you like this but my uncle requires me. It was a joyous meeting and perhaps our paths will meet again sometime soon." With a quick nod, he is sure to smile to Fox before wading himself through the crowed once more to greet that waving hand's body with one of his own strong hugs. The two men are lost within the waves of bodies but from above, they simply walk back to their pavilion. Laughing and joking along the way.

((I know it's short but I might as well write out Aarias for you guys. Enjoy the rest of the RP!))

Additional Comments

A bit of a mixed up thread but that comes from the multiple points of view that didn't quite fit together. It had a lot of potential but unfortunately it didn't continue. There wasn't a lot to give to you three but it's something at least. As for the other two, if you come back PMing is in order.

Please edit or delete your grade request and PM me if you have any questions or concerns about your grade.
