Akilia

Akilia frowned, "You should work on playing in front of others." She had a distant look in her eyes for a moment. "If playing your flute is your passion why not share it with the rest of the world? I grantee many people would not only pay for it they would love it too. If you never tried something how do you know how it will go? My mother always said do what you love and fame will soon follow. But you have to put yourself out there first explore, play, take chances, have fun." She looked at him and smiled. "Try something new. If you want you can play in front of me. Not to mention I can hear really well due to my Kelvic form, so I don't have to be around here to listen as you play your music." Now she shrugged. "But if not, I don't mind. Its your flute after all and instruments can't play themselves."

She rolled her eyes at him being so naive to think she would eat anything. "That was just a figure of speech. I'm a carnivore, so I only eat meat." She eyed him amused, "But you have some meat on your bones don't ya? Mind if I have a bite?" The girl let out a laugh to show Maxi that she was just kidding. She paused and thought over his words from before. So he's only ever lived in Syirlas? Boy, he should get out more... Ah well, who am I to be talking? I haven't explored past Syrilas to other settlements either. Maybe I should make some plans to do that... Oh! I wonder if Max would like to come along, its no fun traveling alone.

She watched him with the hungry eyes of a predator. She didn't do it to intimate him, but because her thoughts concerned him in them she couldn't help looking at him. She probably looked like she had figured out who could be a good candidate for her next meal.

Maxi frowned. "There's no reason to play in front of others, either. I mean, it's not like I want to do it as a job... It's just a sort of thing I enjoy doing in my spare time. I just...meh..." He scratched the bottom of his jaw for a second or two and then shrugged. "I do want to adventure! I do want to explore! It's just that I cant really find anything...At least not anything that I myself can do." He heaved a sigh."I g-guess if you want to hear...I could...probably... play it if you want...I guess..." He was staring at the ground while he spoke. He hadn't ever really played for anyone else before. Maybe when he was little for his dad, but besides that, nobody heard him really play. This wolf girl was right. He did need to get out more and do more things. Why cower over such a simple thing?

"O-oh.... I knew that..."After clearing his throat, Maximillion flinched at her tease and laughed with her, though hesitantly. His laughter suddenly died down to a dimming chuckle as her predatory eyes settled on him, hungry. W-what's she doing? His eyes opened wide, and he took a startled step backwards. "Uuuuh...Are you...ok? Heh..." The simpleton gulped and clenched his teeth. This would be a very sad ending for a very sad life it it continued, and Maxi knew this.

Akilia

Maxi's voice snapped Akilia out of her thoughts evaporating the predatory expression off her face and replacing it with a startled, surprised look. "Wha?" She asked and blinked, "Oh...er, sorry about that. I was just thinking." She tugged on a piece of her dark hair embarrassed. Stupid, stupid , stupid! You can't just doze out on people! Pay attention you. She scolded herself inwardly. "If you want to go on an adventure, then just go." She paused for a moment thinking about what she just said and figured it was pretty vague. "Adventures are only called adventures when you leave your home and go somewhere new right? So what type are you looking for?" She herself had no idea what types of adventures where out there having only read about adventures in books that she'd happened to have picked up and read from time to time. But if there was one thing she did know about them was that when you went on one you traveled somewhere far away looking for something. "What are you looking for? If your going on a quest shouldn't you be searching for something?"

She snapped her mouth shut before she bombarded Maxi with more questions. I have to work on this polite thing. Common courtesy, you let him answer the first question before asking another. That's what mama always said. Though I didn't exactly like nor listen to that advice. She twirled a finger around a piece of her long hair absentmindedly. Oh yeah! He mentioned playing his music! "Don't worry about playing your music for me. I thought you where going to make a profession out of it or something but if you play it just because you like to, then don't let me pressure you to play it for me. You seem more interested in talking about future adventures anyway." She said and smiled.

[Bronze Woods] The sound of a whistle (Maxi)

"Thinking? What abou, exactly?" He cocked a wary eyebrow at her.and took a step back. He remained defensive while she went on about adventure. "B-but if I do that I'll just die! I can't fight, can't survive in the wild, and I wouldn't even know where to go!" The young man sighed with resignation. "Nor do I have anything in mind. I just want an epic journey with lots of heros and treasure!" Maxi's eyes gleamed as his mind entertained his thoughts of an amazing adventure into distant lands with great warriors. Only when he stopped daydreaming did he he realize he lowered his guard while talking, and tensed again. Then he realized that if she truly wished him as her lunch, he couldn't do anything about it anyways. So he purposely lowered his guard once more and simply fiddled with his flute a bit while continuing the conversation.

The young Ahrow nodded curtly to the kelvic in front of him. "Ok. Thank you." A light smile crossed his face in reply to hers.

Defensive...why was he being defensive? She wondered, gazing at him in curiosity. Thinking. He mentioned her thinking. "I was thinking about asking you going on an adventure with you." She said honestly shrugging. "Leave the distant lands and fierce warriors to those who have heads so full of themselves that it pops. You have to start small I think." She thought about his lack in the fighting arts and frowned. "He's not going to do well on a quest with no skills...fighting people being a must." She muttered softly to herself. "No fighting skills eh? Hmm...well I have an idea but I'm not sure you'd like it very much..."

Her idea? To fight him of course. Nah, what she had in mind was to teach him the only thing she could unarmed combat. She was decent in that skill and if Maxi could be her potential questing partner there was no way she'd have his blood on her hands without trying her best to help him out first in that regard.

"Going on an adventure with me? B-but I don't even really know you..." Nevertheless, he thought, an adventure is an adventure. I guess I can't be picky. "Uuh... sure. What would we do?" Maxi digested the thought a bit more. "But in the tales, the heroes are humble! They go there for justice and honor and earn it!" His eyes were sparkling brightly. That was his dream. To be a legendary hero somewhere. The classic damsel in distress scenario. The legendary and kind hero that defeats the evil lord to rescue the princess from their evil plot. What would it take for him to become that hero? The young man would probably do anything to get to that level. "An idea? To help me fight?" Somehow Maximillion already knew what she was going to suggest next and he wasn't quite very optimistic about it.

Am I right?

OOCSorry for the ultra-long waiting time! I don't enjoy being that busy either. =/ I'll try to respond faster and with longer posts. Sorry!

"So I was thinking, how about I train you in some unarmed combat? I'm decent at it at best so I think I could at least teach you a thing or two. How about it?" Akilia asked excitement already filled her from head to toe, the thought about fighting something always made her feel something that could only be described as the thrill of the hunt. Only this time she wasn't hunting she was training, gods blast it; she would have to remember that...

"T-train?! You? How would you know about unarmed combat?" At first it seemed rather absurd to him. A little girl teaching combat to a young man? It was rather insulting to think of himself in such a way. How low had he fallen? Had he even fallen low? What is one supposed to do in this situation?!

He thought intensely about his answer. Should he accept, he would loose a larger portion of his dignity, BUT...

He would learn to fight.

If he didn't, he would keep his dignity AND his droll lifestyle. His days would continue as normal. Boring as ever and continuously predictable.

After orginising his thoughts in that manner, it didn't take much to make a decision. "Uuh... err... yeah. I agree. Would you be willing to teach me... master?" He cringed at the last word. Oh well...

Akilia

His first words were just dripping with disbelief, making Akilia set her jaw and get ready to say something back in her defense, but the boy looked to have processed it then maracurasiously accepted her offer. She smiled in satisfaction, Good, she thought. But that thought was interrupted by Maxi's last word. Master... She clenched her small fists in anger her irrational mind was yet again on the path to making a small thing a whole lot bigger than it actually was.

"Master..." She mimicked coldly, her smile had vanished. Replaced with a cruel sneer, her blue eyes narrowed, zeroing in on Maxi. "Don't ever call me that. That word is what they make her say to them, my mother..." She spat with scorn.
Shaking her head to clear it of unwanted memories creeping in, she took a breath and blinked rapidly shoving her emotional randomness aside. "Sorry, I just... Don't. Just don't use that word."

Great...now I probably made it super awkward for the two of us...way to go, I knew you would find a way to master this socializing crap. Not. She thought bitterly, her hands fidgeted with her shirt as she avoided looking at Maxi for the fear of what his reaction might be. Instead she aimed her eyes up at the old tree's ever looping branches. She felt odd, the anger of such a simple word behind her, Akilia thought about what it would be like to teach another. To teach Maxi, in a way she felt awkward about it, she a young girl teaching a young man how to fight? It just seemed wrong, backwards. She smiled faintly as she pondered it, a bit of pride worked its way in, she felt needed, but she also felt the panic of fear. She never taught anyone anything before. How was she to start?

She obviously didn't take kindly to his initial response. Not too surprised... perhaps I should have masked it better? Once he cleared it up and responded, she did seem to calm down. That is, until the last word he said.

Master

"Master..." She mimicked coldly, her smile had vanished. Replaced with a cruel sneer, her blue eyes narrowed, zeroing in on Maxi. "Don't ever call me that. That word is what they make her say to them, my mother..." She spat with scorn.

Maximillion Ahrow froze in place. What should he do? How should he respond? Who are 'they'? Maybe now isn't the time to ask... All he could manage to say was. "Uuh... o-ok. It's ok." An awkward silence followed for a small while after. He just stood there doing pretty much nothing but staring at the ground and fiddling with his flute.

"So... uh... what exactly is unarmed combat? Just to clear it up for me." He thought he already knew what it meant, he just was trying to break the silence.
