Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Felavik is struck by the quiet as he enters the Temple of Wysar. He is always struck by it. Such quiet contrasts greatly with the constant thrum of noise Felavik had entered from not twenty seconds ago. As the doors close shut and the young Akalak takes quiet step all is forgotten. The calm, blue lighting is introspective and yet a constant reminder of Wysar's affiliation with the Lady of the Night, Akajia.

Felavik is not adorned in his usual armour choosing instead to go to this most hallowed place in a set of simple tan-coloured clothing. His Lakan remains with him however sheathed at his side. When an Akalak forges his Lakan he puts heart and soul into it. It is a piece of himself like an arm or a leg.

Felavik stops when finally he has reached the altar of Wysar. Drawing his Lakan he slips down into one knee bowing his head and holding his Lakan up in both hands is if offering it to another. “With this blade I swear before Wysar to keep the balance within myself. With this blade I pray that his wisdom give me the discipline to strike balance within and his strength give me the power to strike balance in my fair city.” Felavik prayed to his God speaking it first in Common and then speaking it in Tukant.

Fath is Blind

Postby Zyah'suyakal Songbringer on May 1st, 2013, 2:01 am

Zyah'suyakal a Drykas female was leaned against the wall, inside the Temple of Wysar, although she did not follow the religion she respected it greatly, after all Akalak and Drykas came from the same region, and although their religious values were different, Zyah'suyakal had always considered them friends, and some even extended family.

She had come to the Temple because she found the stillness of it comforting, it also allowed her to think, she smiled, she would be coming here more often. Deep in thought it was only natural that she stiffened when she heard another enter, she stayed still as a statue and silent as the grave, listening intently. From the heaviness of the footsteps and the length of the stride, it was easy to tell it was a male, she shivered. She didn't like the fact of being alone with a stranger in an empty temple, yet she did not move, she was too curious, as well as cautious to do anything but listen.

When she heard the distinct sound of a blade leaving its' sheath, she became even more on edge, her muscles bunching in her legs, she was ready to run, and then right before she was about to bolt she heard the prayer. Everything in her relaxed, she smiled as she listened to the beautiful prayer, and then when the male whispered in his own native tongue she could do little but respond in her own, which was Pavi. "May Wysar favor you warrior....May he guide your path."

Although Zyah'suyakal was not of the religion she felt that it was right to say something, if not she would have felt ashamed.

Felavik heard the speech and though it's accent felt somewhat familiar he could not identify what language it was. Felavik rose with a certain grace ill befitting to his bulky frame. With a clink of steel his Lakan was sheathed once more.

Felavik turned to the voice looking over the woman with some curiosity. It was rare to see other races in the Temple. Of course it wasn't disallowed nor was it even considered wrong. The Akalak, like many devout followers, wished to share their God with anyone who was willing to listen.

It now occurred to him that perhaps the woman had been speaking the language of the Horse Clans. Drykas were not uncommon in the city though few stayed any real length of time. They were usually not trouble makers. Which, in his profession of keeping the peace, endeared them to him.

Out of instinct his eyes roved for signs of weapons concealed or otherwise. His eyes found nothing but a pleasing young woman. She was a rare beauty. Vikor, however, urged him to be cautious. As Grandfather Soryn had said so many times “nothing is so rarely nothing at all.” He had to consider that he was not all that experienced and many weapons could be hidden from him by someone with enough cunning. That and, as with all Akalak kind, the body was a weapon to anyone who knew how to use it. The truly unarmed opponent was literally without arms and still could be a danger.

Felavik tried to heed Vikor's advice to keep balance but he also refused to go on the offensive. It was already dishonourable enough to consider fighting a girl even if she wanted to attack him and this girl had merely spoken in her own tongue. This was not an Arena. Every person was not his enemy. Vikor was being over-cautious.

“I do not know what those words are but I feel they are for me and I thank you.” Curling his hands into fists he brought them together and bowed courteously. “I am Felavik, Great Grandson of Dysodamus, Grandson of Soryn, Son of Vikor. It is an honour to meet you.”

When she heard the distinct sound of the blade reentering its' sheath she relaxed even more, she moved forward with grace, borne with years of experience. She had not always been blind, but at the current situation, that didn't show. She moved with the grace of any other that could see, as she came to stand in front of the offer she offered a gentle smile. "I said, May Wysar favor you warrior, may he guide your path. Although I do not favor him as a god, I do hold high respect for him and his followers."

She has switched to Common, seeing as the other had spoken it to her, although it didn't flow like when she spoke Pavi, it was still spoken well. When the other introduced themselves to her her smile widened. She nodded her head. "I am Zyah'suyakal Songbringer of the Amethyst Clan, the pleasure is all mine, warrior." She offered a slim pale hand out to the other, unaware that he had bowed to her in the first place, her dark chocolate brown eyes were not looking in his direction, they were distant and unfocused, yet clear, not hazy at all. They shone with life as well as intelligence.

She moved with grace and style that spoke of confidence and experience. Her voice was beautiful and the flow as more often smooth than it was jagged though when it did it was painfully obvious. He smiled as she offered her blessing and then finally her name. It was accompanied by a hand evidently to shake. It did not bother him so much that she had chosen this more intimate method of greeting. His Grandfather had always taught him not to be presumptuous in the presence of woman and, in first meeting, to always offer a bow to show that he was not making an inappropriate advance merely a greeting.

“You have my thanks then, Zyah'suyakal Songbringer.” Felavik replied as his large blue hand wrapped around hers squeezing her soft skin so very gently as they shook once, twice, thrice before his hand uncurled from hers. “It is good to know some of the Drykas learn from his teachings. It takes great discipline to survive out there in the Sea of Grass. Do you live out there, milady, or are you a citizen of this fine city?”

She flinched slightly feeling the warm and callused hand wrap around her own, although she tried to hide it she knew the Akalak had felt it, she then was voicing her reasoning. "I am sorry, it is just that, well I am blind so therefore it is a little startling, although one would find it amusing, considering I see many things through touch..."

Her voice trailed off as a slight flush coated her cheeks, she then was giggling much like a child, the sound was soft and melodious. But the giggles soon died down when the other spoke her name, it rolled off his tongue with such ease that she couldn't suppress the shiver that ran up her spine, she tried to cover it up."You said my name right, not many do, I suppose it can be a mouthful..."

She shrugged, as he spoke of discipline needed to live in the Sea of Grass, for her it had been as natural was breathing or walking, for she had grown up on the plains. "Yes, it does. It is a land of untamed beauty and danger, it is my home, I miss it.......And as for your last question, I may stay in the city, I have not decided, Ryzan and I are wandering spirits as of late, going wherever the wind and the Web take us." When she had spoken the name Ryzan such love and devotion had been laced into the name, it was evident that the Drykas loved her Strider.

Felavik was shocked. What a complete lack of observation that had been. It seemed silly, dishonourable even, to have not noticed such a thing. That anger at himself soon turned into respect for the woman who held herself like any other disability or no. To have made it up here to this temple was a test of discipline to all and it must have been especially hard for her. All just to pay her respects to a God that was not even hers. She deserved great respect.

“I merely spoke it as I heard it. Maybe I have some knack in copying voices I have not recalled before or perhaps the melody of your voice caused me to listen twice as hard.” Felavik replied honestly. The Akalak would not presume to flirt but his inexperience in that area can cause it inadvertently.

He listened intently as she spoke of the Sea of Grass and her partner, Ryzan. She spoke his name with certain love and devotion that Felavik got the impression she had a child. “It is a beautiful place and I hope to see more if it in my lifetime.” Felavik agreed adding “Oh, the wind is a powerful guide and I hope to follow it one day once I have done my duty to my City and my Race.” when she mentioned her indecision. He knew of the wind; how it pulled people, urged them to adventure; but he knew nought of this Web she spoke. He decided it would be rude to ask lest it be a touchy or taboo subject.

"The Sea of Grass is beautiful, I can still vaguely remember the color...." She sighed as if trying to bring the image into her mind but failed, it had been too many years to remember colors as they once were.

"I wasn't always blind, it happened when I was young, and then I met Ryzan, he is my Strider...." As if hearing her words there was a loud keening cry coming from outside the Temple, the Drykas sighed and then turned away from the Akalak. "Want to meet him? He won't bite, at long as you keep your distance at first." Again her voice was full of love as she spoke of her Strider, this was proof that Strider's were indeed extensions of their Riders, some even more so than others.

"As for my voice, it is mine, and thank you for listening, I don't like to be ignored.....And neither does Ryzan..." She shook her head as another cry split the quiet stillness of the Temple. This caused the Drykas to flush with embarrassment. "Sorry for the noise, he doesn't like me out of his sight....."

Felavik felt bad for mentioning the beauty of the Sea of Grass in front of the blind woman. He had forgotten to think before he spoke ironically breaking discipline in the House of Wysar. He prayed in his mind that he had not angered the God. Wysar was known to be a benevolent God and he prayed his benevolence would forgive his error.

She seemed to perk up when she mentioned her Strider. Ryzan was her Strider, not her child. Felavik's investigatory skills were perhaps lacking. He seemed to be in particularly bad form today.

Felavik chuckled as he heard the horse cry out. He had never ridden a horse before. It was not out of fear but rather his lack of need for it. He rarely went anywhere that was that far away. He respected horses though. They were hard working and, in many cases, fiercely loyal. In his mind the horse was the closest animal to an Akalak.

“I would like to meet him very much, milady, but we ought to be quick about it. The Guards of the Temple are ill-tempered brutes that do not take kindly to noise.” Felavik replied edgily on the watch for Cerulean guards.

Zyah'suyakal nodded at his words, she was very aware of the few rules the Temple had, and silence was one of them. She suddenly felt guilty for the noise, therefore she rushed forward, as soon as she was out of the Temple the keening worried cry stopped. Replaced by a warning squeal and a stomping of hooves. Ryzan had spotted the Akalak.

Zyah'suyakal ran to his side, forgetting all about her newly found friend and has all of her attention on her Strider, she wrapped her arms around his thick neck, leaning against his body she then pressed lips to his cheek, he calmed slightly yet he stared at the Akalak. "Can you move back a bit until I can get this big oaf calmed down?"

Ryzan was a beast of a horse, he looked dangerous, yet it was amazing how his Rider tamed him with such ease, he leaned his head down,. turning to nuzzle against her side, wide chocolate brown eyes filled with love and devotion for his beloved Rider.
