A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on May 5th, 2013, 1:01 pm

--Spring 61st 513AV--

Spirit was... annoyed, to say the least. After all that planning... Alex had turned up a few days later and said she couldn't come. So now she had to go to the Spires alone. What a let down. She wanted to stew in annoyance, but realized that the woman must have been busy, and it wasn't too much to fuss about. But really... starting then ending such a big trip was... a little huge. The Frostfawn shook her head a bit, to clear the annoyance.

Now travelling by herself, the Vantha had decided to go shopping early. It would be nice to have a lot more time to study the map she was planning on buying, and just prepare in general. She also wouldn't need a wagon... since that had been for Alexandra's transportation. She had Silver, and would probably travel even faster than with the cart. She also probably needed a knife... just for basic things... Spirit rubbed her temples, trying to brainstorm everything she would need. That sounded like everything... oh wait! A tent! Right... that would be important... she could always bring her blanket from home too, and had flint and tinder... that sounded like everything.

She shifted and continued to walk the last fifty meters or so to the center of the market. Scanning the various stalls, she quickly spotted one selling travelling supplies. She walked up to it, forcing any shyness from her head.

"Hi... can I buy a tent? Just one person please..." she asked the man running the stall with a small smile. Her hand was already reaching for her money, ready to pay most prices.

"Yup... that'll be 2 gold mizas please... did you want anything else?" He responded politely, fishing out a small package of canvas and poles, that was apparently a tent. The Frostfawn took the item, and deposited the money in front of him.

"Yea... do you have knives, or a map of this region? Or do you know where I can find them?" She asked, answering his question. She doubted he would have a map, but a knife maybe. You never knew.

"Sadly not. But you can find a the knife there, and a map there" He pointed to two stalls quite a distance away. The map shop was relatively close, but the one that held the knife seemed much farther away, and all the young groom could see of it's wares was a small glint of metal. She began walking towards the closest, thanking the stall owner as she left.

At the two stalls, she bought a practical but simple knife for 5sm, and a map of Taldera for 10gm. The map seemed pretty expensive, but considering the amount of effort required to make maps like it... well, she understood. It was quite large really, holding a lot of locations, and the path between Avanthal and the Spires was decently obvious. Well, that was what she had to follow! Rolling her shoulders, she began to meander around the square, just looking at all the things sold.

Spirit had only brought Wind with her today, knowing that Silver might get in the way a big. Though... it would be nice if the horse could carry her new purchases. Instead, she slipped the items into her ever-nearby backpack, and patted her companion on his head. He replied with a doggy grin, and sauntered slightly ahead, always enjoying a walk, wherever to.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Penryn Snowsong on May 5th, 2013, 1:32 pm

Penryn rushed herself to clean, She made herself have a day off from magic, looking who killed Charlie, and clean... But she new if she didn't clean she'll get really upset. The small little home was warm and a little messy. Penryn sweeped the floor quickly not wanting to waste time on her day off to just relax.

Once finished Penryn went outside. She felt that cool bitter wind that brushed up on her face making her ears turn a little red. The wind made her feel like time slowed down and stopped for a moment. What made her snap out of it was the sudden children screaming and playing. She smiled to herself, I used to be like that once.. happy thoughts came in her head filling it with happy thoughts then sad, almost like Charlie did die.

Penryn began walking to a shop, but she saw a woman walking carring her supplies on her back. I'd like to take a day off and go some where.. The thought made her feel like she could, but she also felt like she had a duty here... It could wait, maybe, that thought came in her head to often. She saw one object falling out of the bags. Penryn called out to her, "Hey!! Miss you dropped something!!" Hoppfully she heard me.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on May 5th, 2013, 1:53 pm

Spirit looked behind in surprise, hearing someone call from behind her. A few feet away, on the stones, lay her map. Apparently her backpack had slipped open, and the paper had fallen out. She quickly grabbed it out of the snow, checking to see if the wet stuff had caused any damage. That had been pretty expensive... she didn't want to ruin it now!

The Frostfawn brushed a few flakes of snow off the map, and tucked it back in her bag, this time making sure that the container was closed properly. Remembering the person who had warned her of the fallen item, she looked up. The caller was a woman, a few years older than herself, with the usual black hair of a Vantha. Smiling slightly, the young girl hoisted herself up and smiled widely at the lady.

"Thanks! I didn't notice... If I'd lost that, it would've been disastrous!" She made a slight face at the end, thinking on what would have happened if she did lose that map. It would have meant another 10 gold out of her already shrinking pocket. She walked a little closer, Wind following at her heels.

"Hi, I'm Spirit! Spirit Frostfawn... you are?" She wasn't quite sure why she was being so friendly with a new person, but felt that she should at least show some appreciation to this woman. The lady had helped her quite a bit, even if it was only yelling a slight warning. Spirit's eyes were a soft turquoise as she smiled at the older Vantha. Her fingers touched the scarf at her neck unconsciously, feeling the soft purple fabric with her fingers, then one of the little bells. She still treasured that present from the Smoldering Embrace, since finding it had been an adventure of it's own, and it was quite a good scarf anyways. The groom watched the woman expectantly, hoping for a good answer.

"Thanks! I didn't notice... If I'd lost that, it would've been disastrous!" The women walked closer to Penryn, she felt glad to help another person out it's been a while since joy came to her. "Hi, I'm Spirit! Spirit Frostfawn... you are?"

"Hello Spirit my name is Penryn Snowsong." Her joy was very noticeable even the other Vantha could pick it up, "Hopefully it's not ruined!" Penryn crossed her arms. When the snow hit her face it was really nice... She loved the snow so much a lot of good things happened which now made her some what sad.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on May 6th, 2013, 12:23 am

Spirit smiled at the woman's thoughtfulness, glad that she'd noticed the item could be damaged. She felt quite happy in general, content that she was preparing for her journey, though still feeling a slight worm of annoyance about Alexandra. She shook her head slightly, again trying to crush the thoughts from her mind.

"Nice to meet you Penryn!" It was nice that the other woman looked equally happy, since the lady seemed to have a slight air of sadness around her. That made her slightly concerned, but the Frostfawn decided to ignore it, thinking it was probably personal matters. People generally didn't like it when she probed into personal stuff... it was impolite, anyways.

"It's not... luckily... though thanks for asking!" Her grin widened as she said this, and the groom attempted to brainstorm what else to say. There really wasn't much to talk about, since their encounter was a brief one, but Spirit still wanted to put some effort into it. So, she introduced Wind.

"This is Wind... a Zypherian Sled Dog... he's practically family to me" She stated, still smiling, as she beckoned the canine forward. He hopped up a few steps, stopping to sit at the Snowsong's feet patiently, looking up with expectant eyes. It was his usual reaction to people, new or not, a simple and persuasive beg for a pat. If he could, he'd take food as well, but knew by now that was a rare occurrence. Though Spirit approved of treats, she didn't give them out that often, and didn't like strangers giving in to the hound's adorable eyes. It inflated his ego... something which was definitely not a good thing.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Penryn Snowsong on May 6th, 2013, 8:49 pm

"He's a pretty dog!" Penryn couldn't help but to pet the beautiful dog. Penryn never had a dog before, she could probably could go and get one... But she wasn't so sure if dogs like magic being practiced around them, and it would be a smat idea any way.

"If you don't mine me asking.." she paused, "Where are you traveling to?" Penryn wondered to herself what it would be like traveling to far places. She smiled at the thought. Just like when I was little, still having my head above the clouds.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on May 8th, 2013, 10:17 pm

Spirit smiled widely as she saw Penryn's reaction. Most people liked dogs, especially in Avanthal, so it wasn't surprising, but it was still nice to see that people appreciated the hound. Well... she didn't actually know much outside of Avanthal, but Alex had mentioned something about people respecting them less in Ravok... it seemed strange to her, disliking animals, but she guessed that different cultures had different ways. To figure out those was one of the reasons she was travelling to the Spires.

"Thanks!" She replied to the compliment, then paused after she heard the next comment. How did the woman know she was travelling? Strange... but maybe she'd seen the map a little more clearly than the groom had thought. You never knew, some people had sharp eyes. She gave a strange look, before answering that question too.

"The Spires... how did you know I was travelling?" She had decided to ask, since that never hurt... most of the time, anyways. While on that subject, waiting for a reply, she randomly went over various exceptions to that statement. She zoned out slightly, losing focus in her mental search for an answer. Well... asking some one a personal secret could hurt, and some people might react violently to certain questions.... that would include being hurt physically. Though, she hadn't meant it in that sense, more of in... a degrading way. Worsening the situation, making it more... awkward almost? The Frostfawn considered most of the options thoughtfully, genuinely interested in the subject.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Penryn Snowsong on May 12th, 2013, 11:02 pm

She looked down at the dog, and scratched he's ears. Penryn felt it getting colder out but it did bother her that much. She looked up at Spirit, "He's pretty." She smiled, "We're did you get him?" Penryn thought how ironically that she met a dog named Wind and it was windy outside, she shook the thoughts out of her head, Dammit! Now I'm starting to sound like him to the thought made her laugh once she thought about it.

A little bit of shopping, a little bit of talking (Penryn)

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on May 13th, 2013, 12:00 am

Spirit looked at Penryn with surprise at the question. Most people didn't really ask that, though she couldn't actually think of much of a reason why. So she answered the question easily, with a slight tinge of confusion.

"Uhh for my seventh birthday... he was just a pup." was the answer. She'd practically raised him from birth, and the two were very close. One slight thing that confused her was the lack of an answer to her last question... strange. Maybe the woman had just missed it, or didn't feel like answering. It was slightly suspicious, but the Frostfawn pushed it from her mind. It really was none of her business...

"Well... I think I have to go now... thanks again!" She said smiling, and taking a few steps back. Noticing his friend was leaving, Wind followed, walking further than Spirit, before stopping and looking back at the two Vanthas, as if asking 'what are you doing??' Seeing neither of the two moving, he returned, and sat on his companion's foot.

The young groom had paused awkwardly, waving goodbye, until this had happened. She glared down at the sled dog, and pushed him away with that foot, though not too hard.

"Could you not?" She demanded of him, slightly joking. The dog just returned to her foot and licked her hand, giving her a mischievous look. A deep sigh slipped through her lips as she attempted to decide what to do with him.
