Appearance: Oscar stand at around average height at 5'10 and possesses an average build, not overly skinny or bulky but rather sitting somewhere in the middle. He is fair skinned, has soft and kind features, and his brown eyes possess an openness to them that looks inviting. The most definitive feature that most will notice is his long brown hair which is pushed back out of his face, usually hanging free but seeing it in a ponytail is not unheard of.

What Most Will See...
A selfless healer who is always willing to lend a hand or a sympathetic ear, most people see Oscar for his profession and little else. He is always ready with a kind word and seems to see the best in even the worst of the worst. The healer is easy to get along with and values each and every friend he possesses, if there is something they need he will do anything in his power to help them gain it. Smiles come easily to him and he has a light sense of humor that makes him seem like an incredibly positive individual.
He possesses a deep respect for the gods, especially Rak'keli, and loves to meet with fellow healers. Oscar seems devoted to his life as a healer of the sick and wounded, though most who know him do not realize how deep this commitment goes. While he is certainly a welcome friend for most, many will notice that he is rather evasive about personal affairs and his past. Those who become close to him will start to notice worrying habits and norms for the healer, which he will usually brush off as 'unimportant'.
What Truly Lies Inside...
While he is a genuinely friendly, caring, and overall pleasant person, Oscar is also an extremely troubled and obsessive individual. If there was ever such a thing as being too caring, it would definitely be the healers biggest flaw. Even when completely exhausted, it is not unheard of for him to continue to push himself to his mental limits as he attempts to help anyone who needs it. In the clinics and hospitals he has worked in, many of his co workers began to notice his extremely unhealthy hours. There were many times where he hadn't slept for over two day, believing that others needed to be helped before he had the right to help himself.
Those who actually manage to really get close to the healer will note that he tends to place everyone else's safety above his own. His policy is one of abnegation, in fact it is a part of his oath to Rak'keli to always place others before himself. He takes this oath, and his faith to Rak'keli, very seriously and strives to live by it every second he draws breath. One will be hard pressed to find a more obsessive and devoted servant of the Goddess of Healing, he is certainly driven if nothing else.
He looks to Rak'keli first and foremost, but he is also respectful of Priskil, seeing hope as a great source of healing. Oscar is generally not one to settle down in one place, preferring to travel in an effort to assist all he can, however he is able. He believes that Rak'keli marked him for a reason, that he is meant to serve as one of her instruments upon the continent and alleviate the pain of others, even at the cost of paining himself.

Character History
The Path That Lies Behind.
Oscar was marked by Rak'keli from birth, a child blessed by the Goddess of Healing with the ability to alleviate the pain of others. He was the youngest of two children, but he was the favored by his parents for his blessed nature. Growing up he proved to be a serene and kind young boy, acutely affected by the suffering of others. His older brother, Roland, in turn, always disdained the fact that his bother was marked as he saw it as a branding, like a master would brand a slave.
Oscars parents were simple people with simple trades, his father being a blacksmith and his mother being the one who sold her husbands wears. His up bringing was simple and relatively normal, until his brother came of age and departed for the University. Roland had always been an overprotective older brother growing up, protecting Oscar when he would not protect himself. His reservations about Rak'keli did not embitter him to Oscar, rather to his benefactor and all of her kind. As he grew older alongside Oscar he grew more and more interested in the magic taught at the University, seeing it as a way mortals could gain power independent of the gods.
Oscar would occasionally meet with his brother when the older sibling returned from the University and was not nose deep in this book or that one. They would often get into heated arguments regarding Rak'keli, with Oscar stubbornly defending her as any faithful servant would and Roland calling her a tyrant and likening her to a slave master. These arguments were the source of much contention for the brothers, usually resulting in one of them storming off.
One day, after a particularly heated argument, Roland left both his family and Zeltiva itself behind. Oscar lamented the loss of his brother, believing that he himself was responsible for Roland leaving to travel on his own. When Oscar came of age, he followed in his brother's footsteps and entered the University. Here he proved to be quite the natural at learning the medicinal arts, partly due to picking up a few tricks as he learned how to fully use Rak'keli's powers. Oscar also learned something of magic, gaining skill in Shielding as it seemed to best suit his personality. This proved to be difficult but ultimately worthwhile as his instructors opened his eyes to a whole new world, where magic depended upon him rather than Rak'keli.
Through all of this, Oscar kept his faith in Rak'keli strong, in fact his faith was strengthened from his lessons. His education left him with talents well suited to serving his goddess, making him a formidable healer in his own right. Eventually the time came when he felt a higher calling, when he felt that his destiny was far beyond Zeltiva and set out upon his brothers path after a heartfelt parting with his parents.
He traveled to Syliras with a caravan and after staying there for about a year, booked passage on a ship to Alvadas. There he heard rumors of the Symenestra, an elegant and deadly race of humanoids who supposedly harvested females of other races to ensure the continued survival of their own. He traveled there by caravan, though he and the caravan split paths before reaching the city itself. It is here that the story of Oscar will truly begin to unfold...
