[Lykolav Iron Mines] The First Day of Many

71st Day, Spring, 512 A.V.

Gaius sighed as he trudged up the path to the iron mines. He muttered some vague curses in Inartan as he stumbled and barely caught himself. Everything was next to impossible with his hand, still throbbing in pain and not nearly healed enough for this kind of work yet. He muttered another curse as he made his way towards the mine. There were people nearly everywhere and he had no idea who to talk to or where to start. If it were up to him, he wouldn't even be here.

But it wasn't up to him. It had been up to that no good, son of a-, no, that was not the thinking for right now. Right now, Gaius had to figure out where and what to do. He looked around for a moment, cradling his hand close to his body to avoid jostling it, and heading towards someone who, if they weren't in charge, at least looked like they could tell him who was.

"Excuse me? I'm supposed to work here. Though, I've no idea where to go or what to do. Might you be able to help me?" he asked, trying to remain polite as possible. He cursed inwardly again. A broken hand and a season in the mines. Even if he still had his job at Inner FIre, he'd be lucky if he could do it properly.

[Lykolav Iron Mines] The First Day of Many

Postby Gaius Sivet on May 17th, 2013, 11:42 am

Gaius was quickly put to work, hauling out stone and iron with the rest of the unpaid rabble that worked the mines, amidst the paid miners. He trudged up and down, back and forth, doing his best not to cause any more injury to his broken hand. It was hard, difficult, unpleasant work. But he had expected nothing less. After all, it was a punishment.

He sighed and grumbled mildly, though nothing obscene, as he continued to go about his work, until the day's end came. He thankfully trudged out of the mines at the end of the day, covered in dirt and dust and feeling as if he'd been thoroughly beaten. He retired back to his little camp outside the city, grateful just to be able to get away. Of course, his camp had had to be moved and now, he was within spitting distance of the mine. A constant reminder of the days that awaited him.
