Tallis settled in next to Marx on the mesh netting between the hulls and placed his arm behind her. He then leaned his body against hers to feel even closer to her. They were near the front of the boat and once they hit the open water and the sails filled the cool spring breeze sprayed across his face. Tallis could not have been happier than at that moment.
He breathed in deeply the cool spring air as the skimmer crossed the water. Any thoughts of the slavers were relegated to a distant memory only thoughts of Marx filled his mind.
“I’ve crossed this lake many times and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this beautiful.” He said softly next to her ear. So close that he felt her reddish hair tickle his face as the wind blew it into him. “It’s almost as beautiful as you are. I can’t wait until we are across the water and into the forest. We will be free from all the eyes in the city. And you can run without any cares.”
