The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Before Eida could speak he also heard the growls which meant that there was no more time to think. He turned back Eida and opened his eyes widely. He never thought that she will ever use any weapon. It is true that with bare hands neither of them can do anything but still the knife she had worth nothing against an opponent like that. On the other hand he was confused. ~ That's alright that she want to save the child but still... if you want to save it you need to kill the predator itself. Didn't she say that she wouldn't hurt any animal? That lion is just like the child olidosapux... ~ Because of the surprise of the girl's act she couldn't even stop Eida to throw that stone. This tactic was the worst she could choice. They could at least use the elements of nature or surprise the lions without noticing them somehow. It was too late.

- Then I have no choice.

He said no more. In that instant he changed into his Kelvic form. His clothes were all around him. At least he can try to attack the chaser from behind or from the sky. But the chance to find it and evade it - and the most important - to distract or hurt it was less than slim. If his father would be here he would say that this is the worst thing a bird can do - to attack someone who is not his size. He flapped his wings to fly up. If he would trust his senses then it will be over an instant. Neither a raven nor any bird would do this. It was Eida and the feeling that he felt was the reason behind it. He must listen to it and what it tells - even if it costs his life. After clearing his mind with a loudly caw he flew right into the child's chaser, aiming his eyes.

It was an easy kill, or so the two lions thought, but in the quickest of instances the tides turned for a...much more confusing track.

The calf bleated tiredly, his energy clearly waning. While strong and surprisingly nimble for their girth and size an olidosapux was not meant for long run, and this infant was surely reaching the end of his.

A rock soared into the fray of three creatures, bonking one of the lions directly onto the heading and causing her to skid to a stop, shaking her head in confusion and letting out a growl of frustration.

As this occurred the other female, still on the cafl's heels was suddenly bombarded from the air by what the lion could only assume was a shadow. Claws raked her face, aiming for her eyes, and suddenly what had been on the verge of a simple hunt had changed into something else entirely.

The little Olidasapux, tired, hungry, and confused, simply kept running, no thanks to be given to Eida or Arckhebohn, and now they faced a new challenge: The lionesses.

Arckhebohn would find the element of surprise most definitely on his side in this battle against the lion. True she was large and fierce, but currently his opponent had no idea what was a occurring. She snorted and snarled in confusion, head turning this way and that to try to avoid the talons as best she could, eyes closed as they tried to scrape her sockets.

The other lion, however, had only been struck with a rock. Hungry and furious at the loss of its kill, was searching the grass. She saw the bird, but smelled something else. The grass too tall to see the forms it could be hiding, silent paws stalked toward Eida's location, a low growl erupting from it's owner's throat.

Being One In Two Bodies(Arckhebohn)

Postby Eida on May 25th, 2013, 1:09 pm

She didn't think clearly and she did rush decisions. First distrubing, then involve them into trouble, grabbing an eating knife? Eida saw herself as a fool. Shivering. Then she saw the beef escaped... confused but escaped. It was worth after all but in what price. No she couldn't be so ridicolous now. She can't kill sucha creature she did what she had to. She wanted to eat. Eida dropped the knife. No use of it. She was standing with big faith. The moonlight reflected on her opalescent skin and she looked thoughtful and serious. She stopped the trembling as she became more brave.

She took action as she was in love. Time to really protect who she REALLY loves. Time to prove to Leth she was her priestess for a reason. Eida raised her hands with her mark as it was bright because she used it. She had to stop him. And in the same time she tried to stop the lioness. But she got distracted as she heard a little growl. She nearly forgot about the other lioness. She didn't see exactly where she was. She looked around and tried to listen to the growl. Then she noticed that the grass was "dancing" in front of her. She just wished if she could talk or show the animal she wanted no harm.

"That happens if I try to distrub the cycle... The nature itself will go on, it doesn't require me to act like a goddess... But I need to do something and I have to fix this."

Talking to herself and maybe talking to someone Eida didn't know. She started to step back slowly and slowly. The growl didn't stop. She let her arm down she couldn't use it as she didn't know about the lioness. After then she realized she was standing on her package. She kneeled down and started to search quickly. There was some food she kept for the worst days.... It was time now. She didn't wait she took out all and throw it toward to the lioness. She hoped she will eat some... and let her go.

"I'm sorry that I took away your prey and your food... eat mine then. And I hope you could understand me..."

She was looking at the direction she was coming. She even spoke to her but Eida knew she won't understand her that way.

While he was rushing forward to the lion he could feel the excitement and adrenalin. Or was it fear? He didn't know either but he knew that he has act carefully around the strong animal. Flapping his wings on it won't help at all. It might irritate the animal but if it will be angrier then his chances of survival could drop to nearly zero. He knew it that there isn't any more dangerous than an animal that gone frenzied. When he reached her he firstly missed and only hit her with his wings. This was a huge mistake so to get safety he flew of a bit and tried to attack from behind the animal. As he did so he also glimpsed Eida and the other lion which was closing to her. It gave him power to try again and to be more precise. If he can't somehow make the lion go away he risk not only his but Eida life too. And her life was too precious to lose it like this.

This was a battle which he just can't win. He knew it before it started but winning wasn't the most important task now. If he could just figure out how to make it go away then they survive this night. He launched another attack and then one more. His goal was to confuse the animal while he was attacking from different angles and when he won't except it and opens her eyes then there at last. He saw this tactic on one of his journey's through the word when he was lone. Back then he saw a lot of creatures and thanks to his color he could easily hide in the shadow while seeing how other animals hunt. One day he saw that a wolf was eating his pray - which might have been a rabbit but because it was ripped in many pieces he couldn't be sure - when an eagle attacked it and soon the wolf had to abandon his food. It wasn't like that bird but he guessed that it was because he was starving or because it was its territory and didn't want to let the wolf there.

This time the lion was more dangerous and in the other hand he wasn't so brave - or stupid? - to attack bigger animals. Well at least until now. He knew that the battle will soon come to a conclusion for both Eida and him. And he has to make a final blow soon if he wants to help to Eida. The question was if he is able to hit his eyes - or another part of her body - to scare it off or not.

A strange sort of luck seemed to befall the two travelers there beneath Leth's light.

It began with the provisions that Eida through. Food scattered upon the dark ground, and the lioness barely paused to look. There in front of her was a piece of juicy steak just ripe for the taking. Lucky for Eida a slab of meat, kept fresh with pickling herbs and wrapped in paper, wafted its over ripe stench in the lions direction.

On any other evening this would not have mattered, but the feline was terribly hungry, and she could see the gleaming raw meat there, upon the small space in between her, and the female before her.

Meanwhile Arckhebohn's opponent was growing tired of these games. Small gashes had opened up upon the side of her face. No matter how much she pawed and turned her head this way and that, the strange clawed black shadow kept at it. She snapped once, narrowly missing the bird and grabbing a singular feather, and was about to pounce in the air when she caught wind of the slightly rotting meat as well.

Suddenly a new development emerged as both night predators assessed what was more valuable. The meat lying there upon the ground, waiting to fill their empty stomachs? Or the two annoyances that stood in their path?

The answer was unanimous for both huntresses.

The Night Lions charged simultaneously, lunging towards the hunk of meat, snarling and grappling with each other in the process.

This was Eida and Arckhebohns chance, and they weren't likely to get another one.

Being One In Two Bodies(Arckhebohn)

Eida was watching for a moment. She could distract the other lioness. Chance was on her side, she put Arckhebohn's clothes to her bag quikcly. Then she slowly picked up her and her lover's package and left her food and knife there on the ground. She still was looking how the two lionesses started to fight each other. She didn't want to distrub again... The cycle, the cycle was in Eida's head. She slowly started to walk away to other direction. Until she didn't see them then she used her mark to call her kelvic bondmate. Her marked shineyed as she used it.

"Come, and fly next to me we have a chance now thanks to Leth's light..."

She turned around and started to run. She runned to the direction they were originally going. She followed Leth's "path" and hoped they will really find water there. But she couldn't run so long. She stopped as she thought she was far enough from the place. She sat down and waited for Arckhebohn. She looked up to the moon.

"Father, I learned a new lesson tonight... Balance and cycle!"

Arckhebohn was getting out of energy with every attack. He had to be careful because one mistake is enough to lose his life. And just about the thought he made that mistake. The lion successfully grabbed one of his feathers and who know what would have happened if something else wouldn't distract her more than the raven. But luckily because of that new turn of event he managed to fly away to a safer place. It didn't take long until he finally understood what was happening. He saw that they were trying to get that meat what Eida threw away. He got that not that a long time ago when he was hunting maybe yesterday. Now he knew that it was worth to keep it for harder times.

As he heard Eida's words he tried to fix his eyes where she was. He was exhausted with the fight and didn't know how much he can withstand by flying. But changing his form was too dangerous here and it would also take up some of his energy. He tried to fly up as high as he could to feel the breeze, the air and to gather up his powers for one last flight. He emptied his mind and when he felt he was ready he focused on Eida who was moving quite noticeably in the grass. He flew there and tried to land beside her which was more like falling than a landing. As he lied next to Eida he smiled in him and cawed that Eida was safe. Then he closed his eyes and fallen asleep.

Being One In Two Bodies(Arckhebohn)

Postby Eida on June 1st, 2013, 9:46 am

Eida was watching at the moon then she noticed that next to her Arckhebohn arrived and immideatly fell asleep. She was staring at him for a long time and then she couldn't help she smiled. He slept so peacefully now and no wonder he was tired. It would be too much for her too but Leth gave her energy. She slid next to him and picked her raven up. Eida kissed his feathers and took him on her lap. They were safe now, and they had each other. Arkchebohn was sleeping and once again Eida was looking after him as she did when they firstly met.

Eida was caressing his feathers. So soft and so warm. However she fellt good and they had a bond between them before Leth too she had some melancholy within her. She did what she didn't want to. Distrubed the nature and she involved Arckhebohn into danger. She failed before Leth. Eida had to realize that she had to really think before taking action and she now felt she was a child afterall. While she was patting her lover she looked up to the Moon again. She had her happiness and a little sadness but will to learn and not fail again.

"I promise this won't happen again... But I tried to save him and I could. I'm your child and I hope you'll forgive me this day and bless me and my dear raven, Leth."

Day after day, night after night she had to realize things are not as easy as she thought. Tough decisions have to be made sometimes. She started to understand more things around her now. Life is about learning and experiencing. But she forgot everything around her at that moment as her lover was sleeping on her lap silently and calmly while they became a true couple, they became one before the Moon's light.

Additional Comments :
A wonderful little thread. Thank you guys for being such good sports about the Night Lions and the stampede! Arckhebohn and Eida make quite the cute pair, and I really enjoyed how Eida got a life lesson out of this little wilderness interlude while Arckhebohn acted as a sort of guide. Wishing you kids luck wherever your travels take you!
