"Cold dark night... Brimming with fright... When you face... Death's freezing embrace..." A beautiful haunting singing echoed in the Bronze Woods that night. Kouri slowly opened her crimson eyes and gazed at the night sky. Her ethereal rapunzel white hair slowly billowing in the wind. The usual childish smile she often has was not there, not even the mischievous smirk, or the terrible psychotic grin. Her expression were that of a serious adult, expressionless and cold. She was sitting on her favorite tall tree branch in the Bronze Woods.

If someone who had known Kouri for a while saw her right now, they would see that the ghost girl's attitude and demeanor was quite different than she used to be. Kouri now looked more calm, cold, and mature. Her eyes didn't emit the bright innocent light they used to have. It looked like the little girl had lost her childish innocence and was forcefully matured into an uncaring adult.

She extended her ethereal black tendrils, now noticeably much more thicker and stronger that it used be, and grabbed a steel dagger from the tree hole where she stashed her belongings. She held up the particular dagger to her face. This dagger... the one her Master, Cyrus Blackfire, gave her... the dagger that was given to her on this very location. The dagger that marked her first ascension to a warrior... but it was all meaningless now... her master was gone without even saying good-bye, not even a single note explaining his disappearance, not even a single... farewell hug. This dagger was just another dagger, her tools for dispatching all those who brave or stupid enough to disturb her.

I know... I was a foolish girl, I was foolish to put all my life to another person... Kouri slowly put the dagger back to the tree hole. She then put her hands to her lap and slowly swung her legs back and forth, recollecting past events.

Only a mere five days ago, she had gone into a psychotic rampage at the loss of Cyrus. If it not for the combined effort of Azcadelia and Kisetukai, she would have killed many innocent people in the Kabrin Road and possibly be exterminated by Spiritists. She swore to herself, Madame Azcadelia, and Sir Kisetukai to never let that happen again. In order to do that, for the past five days, Kouri had shut her emotions and feelings away. She was now without a clear goal in her unlife... sure Madame Azcadelia had offered Kouri to stay with her, she really appreciated it, but... she needed time, time to think about it. She couldn't just let the feelings she had build for Cyrus to be gone in a flash.

I think I'll go practice... Kouri arched her back by bending her body forward and eight ethereal black tendrils spawned from her back, whipping the air. Kouri slowly straightened up her body and commanded her tendrils to pick up eight daggers from her treasure hole. Four steel daggers and four cold iron daggers glinting dangerously in the moonlight, floating in the air held by ethereal arms.

Aaah~ It always feel good to do this... Kouri then quickly jumped down from the tree branch, fell down, and stopped just a few inches above the ground. "......" With a silent exhale, she began spinning around and making elegant yet deadly movements with her eight daggers.

NoteSoulmist Projection had reached Expert Level.

The sounds of metal singing through the air echoed in the clearing, Kouri made various precise swinging and slashing motions with her eight flying daggers, closing her eyes and relishing in feelings of manipulating the numerous tendrils that jutted out from her back.

With a huff, Kouri thought it was the right time to practice her techniques. She extended both of her hands straight to her sides, as if on cue her steel daggers positioned themselves to her right and her cold iron daggers to her left. Kouri then combined the daggers on her side into twin spinning chakrams, her tendrils also combined into two much thicker ones and each of them grabbed one of her chakrams.

The twin chakrams, each comprised of four identical daggers, were now ready to serve its master. She then launched herself to the tree tops, the twin chakrams obediently following her; She then made various elegant ballerina twirls and her chakrams spun rapidly while darting here and there. Leaves and branches were cleanly cut by the spinning metal weapon, causing sounds of cut wood falling to the ground and the sight of leaves slowly raining down the forest floor.

Kouri lightly smiled as she continued her practice, she was rather proud of herself. The ghost girl had improved so much from the timid, stuttering, and confused little ghost girl who could only clumsily wield a single dagger. Now, Kouri's hands were not clean anymore; She had killed both animals, mainly wolves, and humans. However, she felt no regret, those wolves are pests anyway and the humans she killed were pirates and criminals. If Cyrus could see her now, he would be so proud.

Kouri stopped as she pondered about... her insane side. This psychotic, bold, and fearless side of her that seemed to always emerge when she felt sufficient fear, anger, frustration, or depression. Is... she really me? The more Kouri thought about it, the more she realized that her 'other' side was in fact, herself.

Something... something sinister lurked beneath the gentle exterior of her personality ever since... she witnessed numerous extreme violences, mental abuse, and cold hard truths that a child should not see or be aware of... yet.

The tiger's slaughter, her massacre of wolves, the various repulsion and scorn she received from humans because of her ghostly state, and those pirates she killed at the Suvan Sea, they all contributed in further breaking her innocent mind, creating an violent alter ego of sorts. She must learn to control this insane side of her, but... how?

"I see you're having fun, oh Bane of the Wolves..."

!? Kouri's eyes shot up at the unknown female voice that graced her clearing. She immediately dropped herself to the ground and observed her surroundings, her twin chakrams spinning rapidly on her sides. "Who's there?!" She demanded, she didn't know if the owner of the voice was friendly or hostile; but you can never be too careful.

"At ease, I come here in peace..."

Kouri's crimson eyes opened wide when a... woman emerged from behind a tree and walked to the clearing, yes, she was definitely a woman. A naked adult woman with snow white hair and... "G-gah?!" Kouri put her hands to cover her eyes. The woman was shining with bright yellow light, how could she do that? Was she a mage? Kouri didn't know; but she knew that this light was not normal. It hurt her eyes and she felt a tinge of fear coming to her. "W-who are you?!" She shouted while readying her twin chakrams in battle position. If this woman was a mage who intended to hurt her, Kouri would not go down without a fight.

"I see... the fact that you''re repulsed by Priskill's light means that... there's evil within you."

The woman then somehow dimmed the light emitting from her body. "But I know you're not truly evil... when I first saw you practicing in this very clearing with your Master so many days ago... you were such a sweet little girl." The woman then put her hands up, showing she that she carried no weapons. It wasn't really possible as she was completely naked anyway.

"H-huh? Y-you saw me?" Kouri rubbed her eyes, easing the pain she got from seeing that damn light. This shining woman intrigued her, not many dared to approach a phantom with two spinning metal weapons of death with no armor or weapons whatsoever; perhaps this woman was a mage and she knew of herself and Cyrus. Kouri decided that she should listen to whatever this woman was going to say, but if she emitted that damn light again... Kouri would not hesitate to kill her.

"Yes, dear. I have been living in the Bronze Woods for many years now and yes, I've been watching you... ever since I've been aware that you made your home in this clearing. My name is Ama, and may I know the name of the young lady who had been massacring the wolves in this Woods?" Ama questioned the phantom before her.

"..............." Kouri slowly eased her chakrams and stopped their spinning motion. This woman know? Who in the name of Queen Morwen is she?! This woman's seemingly calm attitude even in the face of a fully battle-ready phantom truly caught her attention. Kouri decided to humor her. She seemed polite and courteous enough, also she could not exactly deny the fact that she had been massacring wolves.

Kouri lifted the hem of her dress and bowed slightly, curtsying to Ama and introduced herself. "My name is Fubuki Kouri, Madame Ama" She slowly lifted her head "But you can call me Kouri... now then, please explain yourself... who are you exactly? Why are you here? What do you want? And what is that light?"

"Gosh, Kouri dear... patience. I shall answer your questions, no need to rush." Ama gently smiled at the phantom girl before her. Her calm expression gently contrasted with Kouri's tensed one. "As I said, my name is Ama; I'm a Dire Wolf Kelvic and I also live here in the Bronze Woods..." Ama said, her voice slow and precise, she didn't want to aggravate this ghost any further. If push comes to shove, Ama had no ability that could hurt Kouri's unmaterialized state other than... her Gnosis; but her gnosis was not powerful enough yet to actually incapacitate the ghost.

A Wolf Kelvic? Just like Akilia? And she said "Dire"... like the Dire Polar Bear Kelvic of Queen Morwen's Icewatch most likely... Kouri had never met another dire Kelvic before, other than the Icewatch's members back in Avanthal. Kouri kept silent, it seemed the woman was not finish answering her questions yet.

"Hmmm... what do I want... well, Kouri dear. I want to... help you." Ama answered Kouri's second question.

"Help me?" Kouri cocked her right eyebrow, how could someone she didn't even know wanted to help her? It's just absurd. "Thank you for your concern... but I don't need help right now." Kouri flicked her hair and played around with her twin chakrams, by revolving them around herself.

"Oh, but you do, child... but you do. You see, my reason will also answer your third question. As you can see, I'm a follower of the Goddess Priskil." Ama carefully watched the twin chakrams for any sudden movements while still continuing her speech. "She had blessed me with her mark, the Mark of Luminance. It's my utmost duty to uphold her ideals and goals, to vanquish evil wherever they maybe; and you, child... had evil within you. It was proven when you were repulsed by Priskil's light. Good individuals would be comforted instead."

"So... are you saying that I'm evil?" Kouri put both of her hands to her waist and leaned her body to the side, she still didn't believe on how a simple light could judge someone's character.

"It's not me, child... it's Priskil's light who deemed there's evil within you. Now answer me, five days ago..."

!? Kouri's eyes shot open at the woman's remark. Was she aware about her roaring rampage? Kouri knew it now, this woman's light was reacting to her sadistic insane evil side. "Ku....." Kouri took a step back and gritted her teeth, it was no use lying to this Kelvic. Her rampage left very obvious trails of bloodshed and carnage after all, especially combined with that burning tree; courtesy of Azcadelia's reimancy.

Ama nodded as if understanding that Kouri's reaction proved that she was guilty. She heaved a heavy sigh. "You see, child... you were so much different from the sweet, innocent, and timid little girl I saw when you first arrived here... You've changed... and it's not for the better. Your uncontrollable rage and rash actions could hurt the people around you... people that are close to you and ultimately... it would bring doom upon yourself. I'm sure that you understand this, don't you?" Ama's voice pitied the girl, sometimes fate could be such a cruel mistress.

Kouri kept silent as Ama kept talking for she knew it was true and silently agreed with her. "So... you want to help me on this?" She whispered in a low voice, which was answered by a nod from Ama.

"Yes... I sensed that deep inside... you are lonely and longed for a companion, a companion that stays by your side. Now I don't mean to prod, but it seemed the human that you so lovingly clung doesn't visit this woods anymore... does your frustration connected to this? And it led to your rampage?" Ama tried to sound as gentle as possible. She deducted it was a rather personal matter to her.

"........" Kouri looked down to the ground, her chakrams also stopped moving and slowly landed on the ground. "I hate you, master..." She whispered and a single bloody tear fell from her right eye. Ama took this sign that her prediction was right on the spot.

But then, Ama suddenly smiled, a bright motherly smile. "However... I can help you..."

"You can... help me?" Kouri slowly looked back up at Ama, her single bloody tear magically disappeared. "How?" She asked from the bottom of her ethereal heart, how could a this Kelvic help her? How could she understand the pain she had been through? How could she... ease said pain? Kouri didn't know, but she was now willing to hear her out.

"Yes, I can help you and yes, I'm aware that I have no sure assurance to make you trust me... but please, child. I want to help you." Ama hoped that the ghost girl would listen to her, she truly wanted to help her.

"............" Kouri was silent for a good fifteen seconds before she slowly vanished and instantly appeared directly in front of Ama, her twin chakrams immediately followed its master. "Fine... How can you help me?" She gazed at Ama's deep brown eyes with her crimson ones.

For a split second, a tense look could be seen on Ama's face. The ghost's seemingly instant movement surprised her, but she quickly regained her composure. If she let fear took over her, the ghost could see her as an insignificant disturbance and possibly attack her. "Well then..." Ama knelt to Kouri's height and gently smiled at the little girl. "Please follow me... we're heading to the Silkwater Lake and oh, you don't have to actually do it; but could you please leave your weapons?" Ama cautiously eyed the twin spinning metal of death that took their position beside the ghost's each shoulders.

"I'll follow you, but I won't leave without my pets." Kouri answered flatly. She didn't know anything about this woman and she already put herself at risk by blindly agreeing to follow her, leaving her weapons and traveling with an unknown person to who-knows-where was just absurd. Her chakrams would come with her, no compromise.

"I see... I understand. Please come with me, dear" Ama nodded and began to transform, bright light enveloping her body. A few seconds later, the white-haired woman disappeared and a very large wolf replaced her. A Dire wolf with snow white fur and deep reddish-brown eyes, the wolf that used to be Ama then faced Kouri and nodded at her; signaling she was ready to begin their journey.

Woah... she's so... big Ama's size was definitely much much larger than any of the wolves she had seen in the Bronze Woods so far. Her wolf form easily towered Akilia's if they were to stand side by side. Even though she was awed inside, she kept her indifferent exterior and simply nodded back at Ama. "Lead the way then, Madame..."

And thus, the Dire Wolf Kelvic and the Phantom Little Girl left the clearing and ventured through the Woods; heading to the Silkwater Lake. For what purpose exactly? Ama would tell Kouri soon enough.

"So... what exactly is in the Lake, Madame?" Kouri questioned the sizeable white wolf beside her. She then quickly put her right hand to her forehead. "Nevermind... I forgot you Kelvics can't talk in your animal form..."

Ama only lightly smiled and gave an understanding look. Ama didn't want to spoil anything to the ghost, so by transforming and disabling her human tongue; Ama gave a solid reason to made Kouri be quiet for the rest of the journey.

"I swear... sometimes I wonder why can't Kelvics just talk normally in both forms... *Sigh*..." She slowly shook her head, her floating twin chakrams also swayed from side to side following their master.

3 Bells and 30 Chimes later, Approaching Silkwater Lake

"..........." Kouri looked to her left and right, observing her surroundings. It was midnight and the moon shone beautifully upon the trees and some of the light managed to touch the forest floor. She looked to her right and saw Ama still walking beside her, her expression calm as ever. The journey had been filled with one-sided conversation with mainly Kouri talking and Ama gesturing that she heard the ghost's statements.

"Alright... we're here, now wha- hey?!" Kouri exclaimed in surprise when Ama suddenly ran pass her and charged forward. "Wait!" Kouri quickly positioned herself like an arrowhead and chased Ama by flying, her twin chakrams following closely at her sides.

After about two chimes of chasing, Kouri finally saw Ama stopping just behind a rather large tree trunk, with the lakeside just a few distances away. Kouri stopped beside Ama and gave her an annoyed questioning look. "What are you doi-..." Her statement was abruptly cut as she noticed Ama's right paw was pointing to a direction in front of her. Kouri's eyes followed the paw's direction and... "Wha...wha..." She couldn't finish her sentence.

Kouri's crimson eyes was wide open as her sights came upon a... very young girl wandering around near the lakeside. A young girl with light blond hair and deep violet eyes. She wore a black dress adorned with white ribbons and style was rather similar to Kouri's own. It was like the girl's clothes were the black counterpart of Kouri's dress.

Image!? Kouri's eyes went even wider and her chakrams slowly fell to the ground, softly landing on the grass. She noticed that the girl was... translucent and floating. Traces of white mist could also be seen surrounding her. "I-is she... is she..." Kouri's arms went limp and dangled at her side as she came upon a realization, that little girl; definitely younger than Kouri, was also... "a ghost? L-like me?". Kouri directed her question to no one in particular, but she looked to her left to find... Ama gone. It seemed during her moments of bewilderment, Ama made her leave. Why did she leave her alone? Kouri's mind was wrecking for answers.

M-madame?! Where are you?! W-what should I do... w-what... should I... do? Kouri's crimson eyes darted left and right, trying to find the dire wolf Kelvic; but she was nowhere in sight. Then she focused her attention back to the mysterious ghost girl near the lake side. She could hear... sobbing sounds, like a crying little girl.

"N-no... no..." Kouri's memories painfully flashed in her mind, this little girl's situation was very much like her own past. She was also confused and seemed to wander aimlessly shortly after she died, was this girl had something similar happened to her? Kouri wanted to find out. She must know what happened to this girl.

"....." Bracing herself, Kouri slowly left the tree trunk and approached the mysterious ghost with her abandoned chakrams silently watching their master.

Fubuki Kouri

"Hello..." Kouri slowly approached the black-clad ghost girl. Her voice a bit shaky, but she tried to keep her calm. "Uhm... Are you alright?" She was getting nearer and nearer to the girl. Kouri materialized herself to not spook the girl, she might also be a ghost; but did the girl realize it? Kouri feared this girl would be terrified seeing another ghost. Kouri's materialization mastery was enough for her indistinguishable from a real person under poor lightning.

"Eh?" The girl seemed to notice Kouri and turned around. Those sad purple eyes, normal tears could be seen trickling down her face unlike Kouri's bloody tears. "U-uhm... W-who are you, Madame? C-can you help me?" The girl asked in her whimpered voice.

"......" Kouri couldn't help but felt numerous needles pricking her heart. She wanted to cry, but realized she must act strong and dependable for this girl to trust her. "Ah... My name is Fubuki Kouri. You can call me Kouri, ehehe~ What's yours? And yes! I can help you, you just have to tell me how~" Kouri acted cheerful and friendly, seeing this girl was younger than her. Kouri opted for the girl to think of her as her older friend.

"O-oh! U-uhm... M-miss Kouri... M-my name is.. uhm.. Rena. I uuh... I'm lost..." The girl wandered close to Kouri, she was also floating. They were now just inches apart from each other, their height difference was very noticeable; with the girl just barely over a half of Kouri's height. She then timidly took Kouri's left hand with her right and looked up to her, violet eyes brimming with fear and confusion.

"......" Kouri couldn't take it anymore, she knelt down to her height and hugged the girl tight. Rena gasped at the sudden movement She slowly rubbed the girl's back with her right hand. "It's okay... it's okay, Rena. You're going to be alright... now, tell me what happened so I may help you..." Kouri still kept her calm tone, but she was like an ethereal shipwreck inside.

"W-well uhm... M-miss Kouri... I uuh..." Then Rena began to tell the events that had transpired. In her timid voice, she told Kouri that Rena and her family were travelling along the road from Zeltiva to Syliras when their caravan was attacked by bandits. "And then uhm... M-mama told me that... t-to close my eyes and everything is going to be alright... t-then I... felt pain... at my chest... and then I went to sleep..."

So... this girl was murdered by bandits... those petching humans... Kouri kept rubbing the girl's back, comforting her. It's the first time Kouri had ever touched another ghost for an extended period of time. She's cold... just like me... "There... there... we'll make those bad people pay someday, Rena... Yes, I said 'we' because I'm going to help you..."

"U-uhm... M-miss Kouri... i-it's not exactly like that... uhm... w-when I woke up... I saw... m-myself in my mother's arms... b-b-blood were pooling beneath my body and mother's body... a-and.. u-uhm... Mother's hands were clutching a dagger... I-I also saw a hole on m-my chest... A-after that... I don't know... I became different, miss... I tried to touch the other me... b-but she won't wake up. I- I don't know what happened... am I the real Rena?" The girl stuttered with her explanation.

"I-I tried to shake mama too, but she won't wake up as well... s-so... I tried to find father... b-but I couldn't find him.. and then... I met you, Miss Kouri".

!!!!? Kouri's eyes shot up in shock, but she kept silent. W-what?!! D-does that mean... her mother killed her own daughter and committed suicide?! How... how... Kouri couldn't came with an explanation for that horrible act, killing your own daughter; but the she remembered the tales her father gave her. That bandits often attacks caravans to plunder and kidnap the females to be sold as slaves. I... I see... I see... her mother would rather let Rena and herself die than becoming slaves... Kouri then softened her expression, staring into the Rena's bewildered face.

"U-uhm... M-miss Kouri, are you alright?"

"Yes, Rena... I'm alright. You know... after that happened, I bet you feel a lot different, right? I bet you felt cold... and then you feel that as if your body has no weight, and then you can pass through things... and then you can fly" Kouri asked the girl as slow and clear as possible.

"!? Y-yes! U-uhm... h-how do you know that, Miss?" Rena tilted her head in surprise, this older girl before her was right.

"Well, that's because... you're a ghost now, Rena. A spirit of the dead... see?" Kouri unmaterialized herself and her body became more transparent. "I'm also like you, Rena. I'm also a ghost"

"Wha-...wha- wha-?!" Rena shuddered, her face full of fear.

"Ssshhh... sshhh... it's going to be okay... it's going to be okay... there's nothing to fear, Rena. I'm here... I'm here..." Kouri quickly hugged the girl tight again, preventing her from making any sudden moves.

"Uwaah! W-what should I do, Miss? W-what should I do?!!" Rena started to panic, but was somewhat eased by Kouri's comforting words and hug.

"It's okay, Rena. You just have to trust Big Sis Kouri, okay? Yes, you can call me that. I'll be your big sister... I'll teach you everything that you need to know. There's nothing to be afraid of". Kouri gently smiled at the girl, locking her crimson eyes with the girl's violet.

"W-w-will I see Mother and F-father again?" Rena asked that one question. The one question that plagued Kouri's mind when she first became a ghost. Kouri only fully realized that she couldn't do so when she first met Sigrun Dominic who told her she would most likely could not see her Mama and Papa again.

Kuh... Kouri winced in pain at the girl's question, but she quickly regained herself and heaved a sigh, her eyes closed. "Rena... this might be hard to hear... bu-"

"I can not see them again, can I?" Rena cut her off.

"..........Yes" Kouri was surprised at Rena's remark, but she answered truthfully nonetheless.

"..........." After going silent for a good fifteen seconds, Rena finally spoke. "Miss-... I mean Big Sis..."

"Yes, Rena?"

"Please... take care of me..."

Image

Kouri saw Rena smiled. A gentle smile... the same smile she gave to Cyrus when she called her 'Master'. A smile indicating that this girl completely put all her being to Kouri.

"Yes, I will... my little sister... I promise you that"

Traveler's Row, 8th of Bell, 91st of Spring, 513 AV

"Yes?" Matilda Owens, the Konti in charge of the traveler's row opened the door to her office, just a chime ago she heard knockings and the familiar girlish voice of a certain translucent little girl. "Yes, Kouri and..." Matilda's eyes wandered to the even smaller girl holding Kouri's left hand with both of her hands.

The girl wore black dress and was also translucent and floating like Kouri. Matilda kept her calm and greeted them as if they were normal humans. "May I know the name of this lovely girl you are traveling with, Kouri dear?

"Good Morning, Madame Matilda... Her name is Rena. She's my little sister now, come on, Rena. Say hi..." Kouri lightly gestured Rena.

"U-uhm... m-my name is Rena, M-madame M-matilda..." Rena slightly bowed then she immediately hid behind Kouri, embarassed.

"Ahaha... such a cute girl. Please, come on inside" Matilda gestured the both of them to enter her office. Once they entered, Matilda took her seat and took out her record book. "So then, Kouri dear. What can I help you with today? Are you perhaps delivering flowers from Atta?"

"I'm here today... to rent one of the rooms, Madame. For Rena you see. I don't want her to... live in the Woods like I am" She explained.

"I see... well dear, rooms are available for the both of you, of course. Which room do you want to rent? We have a simple single room, an elegant single room, a simple double room, and an elegant double room." Matilda smiled, her tone businesslike and carried no subtle meaning whatsoever. Kouri was here for business and she's a customer like all other person, dead or not.

"I would like to hire the simple double room please, Madame..."

"Simple double room. Very well dear. That would be 3 silver mizas per day. How long you would you and your lovely little sister be staying?"

"Well... uhm... uuuh..." Kouri wasn't sure. She didn't know to be exact.

"You can hire the room for an indefinite amount of time, dear. We even have twenty five percent discount rate to the weekly rates translated into monthly terms if you do so. You just have to pay the montly fee up front" Matilda offered the ghost girl a solution.

"Ah! Very well then, Madame. I'll take that" Kouri lightly smiled and giggled nervously. Rena had been watching their exchange and could not help but awed at how confident her big sister was.

"Very well, dear. Hmmm... simple double room for an indefinite amount of time. That would be... 3 silver mizas translated into weekly rates, 21 silver mizas. Cut by twenty five percent, it became 15 silver mizas and eight copper mizas. A month has four weeks plus two days. So it would be 63 silver mizas and two copper mizas plus the extra two days at six silver mizas, the total prize is 69 silver mizas and 2 copper mizas, dear. It's equal to 6 gold mizas, 9 silver mizas, and 2 copper mizas" Matilda counted the prices with expert precision. She had been doing this for a long time after all.

Price Count :
(3 * 7 * 0.75) * 4 + (3 * 2) =
(15.75) * 4 + 6 = Rounded up the 15.75 to 15.8
(15.8 ) * 4 + 6 =
63.2 + 6 =
69sm 2cm = 6gm 9sm 2cm

"Okay, Madame... I'll just pay you seven gold mizas then..." Kouri brought the money pouch she had been carrying with her tendril in front of her, then two other tendril jutted out from her back and opened the pouch, taking out seven gold mizas in a single grab. The tendril then gently put the money on Matilda's table.

"W-woah... B-big S-sis... h-how can you do that?" Rena was slightly terrified but very intrigued at the same time. Kouri did said both of them were ghosts, right? That means she could do that too.

"I'll teach you later, Rena, ehehe~" Kouri lovingly rubbed her little sister's light blond hair with her free hand.

"Alright, Kouri. Here's your change, thank you for the extra tip. I'll put it into charity" Matilda nodded at Kouri. Matilda had gotten used to the ghost girl's unorthodox way of grabbing objects, she was a regular visitor to deliver flower bouquets from the Flower Stand after all. She then wrote Kouri's and Rena's name at her record book. "Alright, here's the key to your apartment. It's number one-one-two, dear".

Kouri slithered one of her tendrils along her right hand and politely took the key, like a normal human would. She then slightly bowed, Rena following suit. "Thank you very much, Madame Matilda"

"You're very welcome and have a great time, both of you" Matilda waved them farewell and then the two ghost girls left the office.

Apartment 112, Five chimes later

"Big Sis... I'm cold... and I'm tired..."

"I understand, Rena. Go sleep on the bed, I'll be with you."

"Okay..."

Rena tried to climb on the bed, but her form just phased through it. "B-big Sis... w-what should I do?"

"Rena, can you... materialize yourself... like this?" Kouri materialized herself and her form appeared much more solid and real. "This way, we ghosts can touch objects, I will teach you how to control our tendrils later... for now, please rest."

"O-okay... Big Sis" Rena concentrated hard and... she somewhat succeeded. Her form slightly appeared more soild, but far below Kouri's level. It was clear that Kouri's power was far higher and experienced than Rena's.

"Alright... now, just lie on the bed. I'll put the blanket on you..."

"Uun..." Rena nodded, now she could touch the bed and climbed on it, Kouri then extended two of her tendrils and positoned the white blanket over Rena's tiny body.

"Uuhn..." Rena then slowly dozed off to a blissful sleep. Her materialized form would soon fade and the blanket would fall through her, but at least it was enough to keep her cold ethereal body warm until she completely fell asleep.

Kouri retracted her tendrils and lovingly ruffled Rena's hair. "Good sleep... my little sister... I will take care of you, even if I should risk my life for it... I will not abandon you like Master did to me... I promise you..." A tear fell from Kouri's right eye, but surprisingly, it was a normal clear tear; not her usual blood tear. Perhaps something did changed for the better in Kouri's mind that day, but it was not clear whether her insane side disappeared completely or was just merely suppressed.

Far away at the Bronze Woods. A certain white-haired woman was gazing at the morning sky. Her expression was full of satisfaction and happiness. "Goddess Priskill... I think I have vanquished yet another evil, in a way that requires no violence. Thank you for your guidance and light... my Goddess"

And thus at that fateful day... two lost souls were united, and they were lost no more.

History (This is just a draft, to be elaborated further once the thread's graded and Rena has been approved):

The daughter of Karl Fuerbach and Maria Fuerbach. Both of them were scholars who lived in Zeltiva. Rena was always fascinated by the tales of heroism and knights in shining armor so when Karl had a research project in Syliras, Rena begged her father to come along. Maria, of course, came along as well.

Fate had other plans though... in the middle of the way, their caravan was attacked by a large group of rather competent bandits. Seeing that all hope was lost, Maria opted to murder her own daughter and committed suicide rather than they be captured and sold as slaves. Karl's fate was unknown... he was most likely killed by the bandits.

Rena's soul, dying an unnatural death, refused to move on. Deep in her subconcious, Rena wanted to know on what exactly happened and why all of this could happened. Aimless and without a clear goal, she wandered and wandered until she came upon the Bronze Woods and met her soon to be older sister, Fubuki Kouri.

Notes :
Very cute thread, I'm liking Rena already. Just a note on the daggers. Using her daggers does slightly drain her soulmist, and carrying them around for a while will end up depleting her seriously. Also be sure to deduct the expenses for the double room from your ledger.
