Arlan Young Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 19 Birthday: 4th of Winter 593 Birthplace: Syliras Appearance: Arlan : Roughly standing at 5'9, Arlan seems to be slightly shorter in comparison with the majority of the other males in Syliras, his wide light-blue eyes seem momentarily entrancing upon first glance, assisting in a complimentary way to define his masculine jaw-line and physical build. Although small in stature, Arlan has a somewhat solid figure, albeit it is usually concealed beneath an assortment of neat garments, sewed and ironed to pristine condition. Arlan's hair is tidy and tamed, sitting flat against his head, it rarely differentiates from its motionless appearance as he can be spotted pressing it down every time it threatens to shift position. Softly spoken, Arlan has a generally gentle and welcoming tone of voice, going hand in hand with his awkward demeanour, the two counterparts fit perfectly amongst his other attributes. Character Concept Shy, awkward, quiet, alone and alienated are but a few of the adjectives that best suit Arlan. Usually isolated from others, it's rare to find Arlan engaged in any sort of social interaction, and if forced into a situation which involves it, it's difficult to maintain a healthy and thriving conversation of any sorts. Displaying an almost constant show of reluctance towards sociability, it's this specific behaviour that's rendered him incapable of befriending people of his own accord, causing him to wind up alone. Despite his anti-social behaviour, Arlan is typically friendly and polite towards others, always displaying a courteous and thoughtful demeanour to all whom he encounter. Arlan's personality was clearly moulded by a troubled childhood and adolescence, defining him as the withdrawn individual he is today. Character History Born in Syliras, Arlan was brought into a somewhat dysfunctional family, winding up in the crossfire of his parents constant arguments and fighting, he was typically neglected by his mother and father. During his adolescence Arlan was generally ignored and alienated by his peers, which resulted in his self-seclusion from people. With little left to focus on, Arlan dedicated himself to his education, giving him an intelligent edge over some of the local population. At the age of fourteen, Arlan's parents went their separate ways and abandoned him, forcing him to spend the remainder of his childhood in an orphanage, one of the many other occurrences that played a role in defining him in the years to come. Severely depressed, Arlan took to drawing in an expressionistic demeanour, helping to relieve himself of his darker thoughts. Upon reaching adulthood, Arlan has already taken to selling his drawings in order to provide for himself. Using the little coin he could muster from the sale of his artwork, Arlan developed a particular knack at organizing his money and managed to get hold of a cheap furnished apartment a few weeks before he was kicked out of the orphanage. A year passed and much had changed for Arlan, though still suffering from a crippling shyness, he was happy, he could provide for himself and had now changed from expressionistic drawing to impressionistic, sketching out people from the local population for coin and being hired to assist in the creation of architectural plans and blueprints.
