AppearanceRace: Ethaefal
Gender: Male
Age: 41
Birthday: His memories of this life extend back to a birthdate of 60th of Autumn, 471AV
Appearance:Anders is slightly taller than average. Although of normal weight and thickness, his height makes him seem skinnier then in actuality. His silvery, pale skin completes the largely inaccurate aesthetic of a frail, lanky under-eater. Now, in the summer season, Anders has jet black hair and horns the shade of deep, iridescent jade.
Character ConceptAnders' patron deity is Leth. In his day to day life, Anders feels the same crushing heartbreak at being separated from his patron as any other Ethaefal. His answer to the mind numbing burden of being cast back into the moral realm of Mizahar was distraction. He decided to study this cycle of life and death and what happens when the transition goes wrong.
Anders is spiritist who has chosen to concern himself with the process of transforming from a living creature to a ghost. He's always been interested in the mystery that some creatures are able to move on through the cycle of life and death while others linger as ghosts. Sure, there's a common theme. A bit of a familiar story in how a ghost is "produced," but there really is not a lot of fact or evidence on what causes someone to cling, so dearly, to life after their expiration.
This is the question that Anders set out to solve. Sure he was interested in ghosts and the undead. Poorly understood, supernatural phenomena? What was there to not be captivated by? But his passion is a bit more...academic... then most.
It goes without saying that Anders' love and loyalty belongs to his patron god, Leth. However, he's taken on a bit of an academic fascination with one of Leth's contemporaries: Dira. The Ethaefal found it quite difficult to study Spiritism and not develop some sort of interest in the goddess of death.
Anders doesn't harbor a malicious bone in all of his body and yet when you're an Ethaephal studying a field where the line between life and death is somewhat blurred, one tends to lose track of the old moral compass. He has never taken a life for the academic practice of experimenting on the passage from life to death. Much to Anders' alarm, he ponders it almost daily and has, at times, come distressingly close to preparing such an experiment. He hasn't moved forward with such a bizarre and disturbed plan...yet.
Character HistoryAnders doesn't remember much about this current life. Not much that is interesting anyway. When in his Ethaefal form, he can sometimes grasp some more interesting memories.
He woke up in the Suvan Sea. He wandered over to Syliras but never really chose to go anywhere. After this, generations later, he can remember having a fascination with some woman. A face often comes to him but no name. He has dual visions. One vision features an athletic looking female with red hair and rugged clothing befitting an explorer. The second is a female Ethaefal. She's clearly a worshipper of Syna and he always pictures her in the autumn: dark, dark red hair with horns the color of a majestic dull, burnt golden yellow.
It doesn't matter which woman Anders pictures, he always feels a warmth when the visions come. It is the giddy, nervous warmth of connecting with a lover for the first time. It is clear to Anders that these are the images of powerful love from a past life. He is only unsure whether this represents emotions across a single lifetime or is the blurring of two separate lives.
One matter, worth mentioning, is Anders' actual introduction to the world of Spiritism and Auristics. Anders struggled for years to gain the favor of a human Spiritist by the name of Claude Veston. After gushing to Veston about his interest in the undead, Veston relented week after week. Finally Veston broke down and... allowed him to perform the grunt work and the tedious tasks involved with setting up Veston's own work and experimentation. It was only after roughly 5 or 6 years that Veston wondered if he might have some fun teaching someone new a few lessons about Spiritism. Over the next decade, Veston taught Anders until the occurrence of his own transition into death...peacefully and successfully.
