14th of Summer 513 AV, Somewhere...
"What in the gods's names is this?!" Yuri gazed with utter confusion on the disturbingly weird landscape he had ended up in. The ghost had not dreamed ever since he had died, since ghosts don't normally sleep, so the setting shocked him. This has to be a dream... but how- oh right, Kouri... Yuri remembered entering a state of inactivity after spending most of his soulmist teaching and demonstrating to the young ghost his possession skills and also, ironically, learning from her about soulmist projection. But this was far from the main stream of thoughts as Yuri looked around his unusual surroundings.
The place he had ended up in was a hybrid of bewilderingly different scenes: The scenery of the Bronze Forests, the foliage now a blood red, underneath the stone ceiling of Syliras's fourth tier, yet it was not stone but great shimmering gemstones of a myriad of colors instead, rivaling that of the skyglass of Lhavit. The forest floor itself was strange, as random fountains of water burst from the ground here and there, collecting into pools of water suspended midair, some even having brilliantly colored fish swimming around, much to Yuri's ever increasing wonder. All in all... this dream was extremely messed up.
"Why do dreams have to be so weird?" Yuri sighed as he watched a purple koi fish swimming in one of the gravity defying pools- wait, purple? Shaking his head, Yuri floated off, on the look for something that had the slightest semblance of being normal. Gliding hastily, Yuri found little signs of any other inhabitants in the dream, sentient or feral. He was alone, or was he? Yuri had little time to consider as his eye caught something shockingly normal in this dream.
In the middle of a clearing in the crimson forest, surrounded by jets of water and their subsequent reservoirs of water, was a piano. Just sitting there, stool and all, impeccably clean and in good condition, the instrument Yuri loved and adored most in his life. "No way..." Yuri's eyes widened in delight; a glossy black piano, just beckoning for him to play! Yuri rushed to the piano eagerly, taking an elegant seat, sweeping the tails of his tailcoat behind himself. But then he hesitated: what if he couldn't touch the keys? He was a ghost afterall, but this was a dream! Surely just once it would...
Yuri delicately and slowly moved his hand toward the keys. Please don't phase through, please don't phase through! Shutting his eyes tightly, Yuri placed his hands on the piano. He felt his hands stop, feeling the cool touch of ivory keys on his fingers. An elated smile lit upon Yuri's face as tears of joy flowed freely; he could touch the piano, and thus, he could do what he yearned for so desperately: play.
Yuri brought his hands down forcefully on the keys, a strong powerful chord ringing. The ghost listened completely engrossed as the notes ringed out for several seconds, then the fingers began expertly moving along the piano, fast and delicate notes playing out in succession. Yuri was completely enveloped in the music as it played out; this may be a dream and a weird one at first, but it had brought one good that Yuri could enjoy even for just a little while, as beautiful and haunting melodies and harmonies rang out and echoed through the dreamy forest. |
