40th Day of Summer, 513 AV:: Just Before Sundown
Irriari gazed at the outer edges of the Pit with interest. She had stumbled upon the park a few days ago, but her search for a healing kit had kept from watching a fight. The pit master, Malfus, has taken a few chimes to explain the fighting system of the Pit. She had thanked him and continued on her business with a promise to return in a few days.
A half bell remained before the fight would officially begin, and many citizens were already filling the stands and gossiping about the odds over mugs of ale. Malfus stood at the edge of the Pit, his eyes surveying the crowd and the sandy surface of the fighting ring. While she had been hoping for a better view of the action, the bleachers were designed for humans, and the zith knew that her wings could easily be crushed by drunken human passerby. Malfus had assured her that the stands would be crowded to bursting for the sundown fight. With this information, she had decided that it would be best to loiter around the edges of the park until the fight started.
The concession stand was mostly empty for the first time in a half bell. When it was her turn to order, she paid the grizzled serving man three silver mizas for a large chunk of meat. Irriari clutched the oddly shaped piece of meat in one fist as she made her way back to the fringes of the park. Satisfied with purchase and location, the zith opened her wings enough to allow the breeze to travel through the skin that had begun sweating.
