Timestamp: Spring 37th, 513 Av
Who: Addy, Eoin
Where: The Cedar Amphitheater

“What the petch is going on?” Standing on her toes, Addy attempted to peer around the wall of shoulders that blocked her view of the entire hallway. Having stepped out to grab a bite to eat, the little healer was on her way back to the Infirmary from the Kitchens when she encountered the holdup. The entire corridor leading to the Courtyard of the Sky was packed to brimming and at a complete stop.

“No really, someone tell me what is going on! I have sick children to attend too!” Raising her voice, Addy poked and prodded those backs in front of her until one irritable woman turned around and glared. “Its obviously a jam. I can’t see anymore than you. Calm down. Endal don’t get priority in a crowded corridor.”

Addy blanched, her green eyes widening as she took in the venomous words that had just been spit at her, staring blankly as the woman turned back around and resumed ignoring her. “Well, if I don’t… you better not… YOU-“ Shock quickly escalated to indignation as Addy struggled to find the right words to express herself. Luckily for everyone nearby, a firm hand on the little woman’s shoulder diverted her attention to a smiling, wrinkled face.

Though she didn’t know his name, Addy recognized the old Avora man. She had seen him before in the Crafts Gallery and he had helped her more than once when she had come looking for one thing or another. Putting a finger alongside his nose, the man winked and nodded towards the back of the woman Addy had been only ticks away from tearing into. “Don’t mind her. Everyone has someplace they want to be other than here. But the Singing Competition is today, and everyone is anxious to get to it while they still have time. No one wants to miss out on a chance at first prize!”

“Singing Competition?” Standing in the corridor jam suddenly got a bit more intriguing as Addy tossed the Avora a friendly smile and turned back to the crowed ahead of her. She couldn’t sing, but it would be worth a few bells of her time to watch everyone else make a fool of themselves; the Inarta hardly ever had time to gather and enjoy such activities. Whenever one occurred, it garnered the interest of almost every individual within the city regardless of Caste.

Half a bell later, Addy scurried along, stuck in the middle of the sea of ginger that flowed towards the Cedar Amphitheater. Managing to extract herself before she got swept away onto the stage, Addy hovered at the edge of the crowed and looked around for a familiar face. Unable to pick one out from the constantly moving mass of Inarta, the little woman turned and tapped the shoulder of a man as he passed by on his way into the Amphitheater. “Excuse me. Do you know when this starts?”

OOCThe man is Eoin :D

Hitting the High Notes (Eoin)

Postby Eoin on June 18th, 2013, 12:57 am

oocSo I've left Addy with the daunting task of convincing Eoin to join the competition. An idea would be to offer something in exchange, like teaching him a thing or two about medicine, and to target his pride. I think it should be enough...but when in doubt, Addy can just use her authority, but I seriously doubt she'll want to. Sorry I can't be of more help D:

"It won't be more than two bells." Ula prodded incessantly, her nerves getting the better of her. Eoin looked a bit uneasy, though it took a keen eye to catch the gentle furrowing of his brow, but finally gave a slow nod. The smaller Avora smiled, momentarily at ease before she began to fret once more, mumbling as she moved toward the exit at a breakneck speed before abruptly turning. "Hurry!"

Out of all things, a singing competition. Eoin and everyone in the kitchens found it strange for the jittery Ula, who jumped at the most harmless insects, to have the guts to stand before most of Wind Reach and sing, a skill she sorely lacked. Yet somehow, she mustered the courage to do so, dragging whomever she could to listen as she practised. Of course the Avoras were quick to step away, leaving a very confused Eoin behind. Sympathetic to Ula's passion, he decided to help either way and suffered many bells of torturous melodies. Once or twice, he had brought up the fact that she may not be ready to enter the competition, but Ula was oddly determined, snapping at him defensively. They had fought but in the end, she needed someone to support her, and only Eoin remained so reliable.

Though the two intended to avoid the lines and arrive early, due to Ula's worrisome pacing, they now stood waiting in those very same lines. It took nearly a bell before they neared the entrance, which merely riled up the songstress further. Eoin tried his best to comfort her, but his calm demeanour and lacking knowledge only frustrated her. In the end, she separated from the very Avora she had spent so long to persuade to join her, leaving him alone once more. He sighed quietly, for even he tired from Ula's energy, deciding that he might as well sit through the competition than to wade through the crowds once more. Just when he was about to enter, he felt a faint tap on his shoulder and a question posed, to which he naturally turned to answer.

"In another 15 chimes." Eoin spoke before realizing to whom he spoke to, surprise catching his tongue. Out of all places, it was here that the two reunited. Despite Wind Reach's small numbers, the two shared differing paths. When she would head to Inclement Weather or the infirmary, he would be working in the kitchens or studying in the Enclave. In retrospect, it was a stroke of luck that they met in the first place.

"Aidara, it is good to see you." Sincerely, he greeted the other, his eyes a warm green. Even now Eoin found it difficult to address her informally as Addy, for not using the Endal title in itself was a bit uncomfortable. Having not seen each other in a while, the Avora defaulted to a reserved but courteous attitude, as though he had forgotten how to interact with the healer.

Once they finished their greetings, Eoin looked for a place to sit, though he was doubtful that any seats remained. "There seems to be spots over there." He indicated with his gaze before beginning to move, naive to his fate.

Hitting the High Notes (Eoin)

“Not much has changed, I see. It's nice to see you again, Eoin...” None of the initial surprise at seeing Eoin after all this time registered on Addy’s face. There was a momentary pause where her eyes widened only slightly as the young man turned around and started at the sight of her, but the little healers gaze took to tracking its way up and down the lithe form of the man. “Seeing someone naked usually at least elicits a hug, don’t you think?” Addy was well aware that she made Eoin uncomfortable by her presence alone, so the hug that she gave, her arms tightly encircling his waist, was bound to make him squirm.

He treated her like an Endal. He deserved to squirm.

Pulling away, Addy kept the young man at arms length, her hands slipping from his waist to hook on the top of his bryda; it was a familiar gesture that, to anyone else, wouldn’t have meant anything past comfortable companionship, but Addy fully expected Eoin to shy away. “If we have fifteen chimes, then we have more than enough time to wiggle our way up to the front row!” And away they went, the taller avora tugged along by the feisty little healer.

It was a struggle to make it through the crowd, those individuals who had arrived early tossed glares and grumbles in the pairs direction. “If we got here early, you should have too if you want to sit up front!” Came an angry voice from behind them, a female from Addy’s reckoning. The effect was immediate as the little woman stopped in her tracks, spun around on her heel and squirmed past Eoin to face the yelling patron.

“If you didn’t want to deal with people walking by, then you should have sat in the back!” Pointing a finger up at Eoin, Addy fixed the woman with a hard glare and spit, “We are going to find a seat. If you have a problem with that, he will punch you in the face.” Holding the strangers gaze until she was the first to look away, Addy huffed, lifted her chin into the air, twined her fingers back with Eoin’s and continued to pick her way down the row of seated Inarta, all of which stared pointedly ahead, waiting until the pair were well out of earshot to complain of stomped toes or simple inconvenience.

OOC :
I gave you the option to totally be wicked badass. If you don't want to get into a fight, feel free to just start the competition and have people sing and stuff :D
