fifth of spring 513 AV
Soren frantically ran through the wilderness rabbit in one hand and bow in the other. He had been lucky enough to find a bleeding rabbit in the wilderness dead. He presumed it had been caught in a trap or injured somehow mortally and hopped away to the underbrush to die getting away from its hunter. He cursed himself as he saw the Icewall gates in the distance and ran for them. A night of hunting and all he had to show for it was one very small snow hare that he didn't even kill. Jesslyn and Soren had met a few days before and discussed lunch at his Arvinta. Soren had forgotten Jesslyn was coming on this day. He explained his situation to the Icewatch guards at the gate and saw them chuckling lightly and nodded waving him forward. He smirked and entered Avanthal.
Soren ran into the Frostfawn hold after another ten minutes of frantic running through Avanthal. He laid the rabbit in the kitchen of his Avanthal and started cleaning the rabbit in the kitchen, he really didn't have time to take it outside and clean it. He took his knife and flayed open the rabbit cleaning out all the unnecessary entrails and skinning it furiously trying to reveal the tender meat. His butchery of the rabbit looking horrible as it layed open.
Soren sighed as he wondered what he could do with the rabbit. He made a frustrated noise and decided to cut the rabbits meat into little cubes and cook it. He started to cook the rabbit and breathed a sigh of relief as he realized Jesslyn hadn't arrived. Come to think of it...she hadn't said when she'd arrive at all. "Well, if this evening doesn't rattle me to my core I might actually survive this day." |

Jesslyn sighed as she picked at her pants. "Sylvia. It's just a lunch." When Jesslyn went to scratch her head her hand was slapped away. "It's a lunch date. You can do something a little nice."
Jesslyn grumbled under her breath about bestfriends over doing small things and earned a hard pull to her hair. Letting out a growl Jesslyn was met with a laugh, "Oh stop it! You're not a feline nor a dog. Your a fine young woman going out on a date. Use your manners."
Jesslyn sighed and slumped her shoulders, which was quickly changed by the pull of her hair again, "Morwen Sylvia! Use your words!" Jesslyn was given a chuckle and then a pat on her shoulder.
Her hair fell back onto her back and she sighed, "Finally, what did you do anyways?" All Jesslyn got was a giggle and a shushing sound. "That's for me and those with eyes to know." Jesslyn rubbed a hand down her face and turned to her best friend, "Fine fine. Leave me hanging."
"Gladly" Jesslyn snarled at her bestfriend only to be flicked in the nose. Blinking in surprise Jesslyn frowned and rubbed it, "Will you stop that! And I'll take what ever you did down if you don't tell me."
Sylvia sighed and rubbed her chin. Jesslyn kept her blank eyes in the direction of Sylvia as she waited. "Fine fine. It's just a simple braid," Jesslyn rose an eyebrow for her to continue, "And I might have slipped in some silver colored string to make it shine."
Jesslyn sighed and stood. Grabbing her cloak and fixing it around her neck Jesslyn smiled, "How do I look?" Sylvia gave an excited giggle and then crushed Jesslyn into a hug, "Like the Loveliest Icemaiden of them all."
Jesslyn pulled away from her best friend and started to the door, "Your coming with aren't you? Because I don't want to get lost." Sylvia quickly set her jacket back on and rushed after Jesslyn.
Once they were outside Sylvia linked their arms and starting to giggle. Jesslyn misunderstood-stood her friends excitement as for her date and let out a breathy laugh,"Well, at least you didn't over do it." Little did she know that Sylvia had weaved small flowers into the braid along with the silver string.
As Jesslyn and Sylvia reached Sorens house Jesslyn was pulled into a hug, given a kiss on the forehead, and was whispered to, "Have fun Jesslyn." Then Sylvia was walking away and out of Jesslyn's sight.
Jesslyn sighed and nervously tapped her pant leg. She was actually kind-of nervous to be in this Hold. She had never really gone into it before and didn't know if this was a good idea anymore. Just before she was ready to walk away she stopped. She couldn't leave the poor man hanging and she deserved a small chance.
Gather all her small amout of courage Jesslyn raised her hand and lightly knocked on the door, "Hey Soren... It's uhh. Me." Jesslyn stopped and then mentally smacked herself, "I mean.. uh it's Jesslyn."

He flopped onto his bed and looked around his Arvinta. What was he thinking inviting Jesslyn to this small space. It was barely going to accommodate the both of them at the same time. He had a bed and a table a chest and a hearth. It exuded an inviting warmth but he sighed as he stared at his small table...with one chair. He bit his lip nervously and slid the table to his bed. He would sit on the bed while she took the chair. Perfect!!
He shook his head. Jesslyn was going to take one look at this idea alone and leave at once. He began to think of what kind of home he would have if he were anything more anything more than a simple hunter. He smiled as he thought of himself on the frontlines of war, a mighty leader atop a dire polar bear or maybe some kind of great winged raptor of a bird.
Soren was quickly startled out of his fantasy from the voice outside. Jesslyn. His eyes widened as he ran for the door and then cursed himself. The rabbit wasn't done and his Arvinta was small and unwelcoming. It wasn't messy...though how could it get messy if Soren really didn't have much to his name. He sighed and took a breathe and opened the door. He smiled at her small mistake in introducing herself at the door.""Welcome to the palace m'lady. He said bowing in mock ceremony. |
