Sanderson nodded. "Right then. Anyone wanting to take any magic classes has to speak with Professor Stonemiller, who will either approve or deny the application. Magic's a dangerous thing, and the head of the department needs to speak to all new students."

He made a note on a paper in front of him. "Once you're finished here, you can find him in the Wright Library. If you're accepted, he'll determine the price for your classes."

74th Day of Spring, 510 AV Taking a deep breath in, when he was called forth, he walked through the corridor and made his way in front of Sanderson. A faint smile lingered on his lips as he bowed gently to the Registrar. His blue cloak swept the ground and his features were certainly Ethaefal, the swish of blonde hair falling along his shoulders and the green horns which adorned his head were rather evident. “Greetings,” he said amiably, adjusting the cuffs of his sleeve before he tilted his chin up slightly to peer across Sanderson’s furnished desk. “My name is Rigil Kentauris and I wish to express my interest in studying within the University of Zeltiva.” With the elementary introduction provided, his gaze seemed to flick around the various objects lying upon the man’s desk. He took it all in, seemingly as though it was an old habit of his. Then he continued to speak. “Basically, I have a keen interest in the studies of the arcane as well as the academic fields of history and philosophy,” he explained, his lips parting as he spoke, yet provided a general sense of radiance with his graceful volume. “Regarding the arcane, I wish to specialise in Projection and Auristics.” He looked at Sanderson expectantly and sighed inwardly, hoping that there was something that could be offered to him. “To be sure, I am a scribe as well, so perhaps I could also go into cleric service to meet the financial ends of studying here?” he posed the question, arching an eyebrow.

Sanderson seemed unfazed by the sight of an Ethaefal -- all kinds came to Zeltiva, and he had seen many of the fallen before.

"Arcane matters?" There was a brief frown, though one of thought rather than disapproval. "You'll need to speak with Professor Stonemiller, who will either approve or deny your request. Due to the nature of the field, the head of the department needs to speak to all new students."

Aram walked into the room, his robes only slightly flowing back as he closed the door behind him. He had been trying to further his studies on his own since the death of his mentor, Marhaz, but to no avail. This would be his first formal teaching since then, if he could get in. He looked around, and seeing the registrar, stepped up to the desk. "What is your business with the registrar today?" asked the man. Aram spoke, his voice gentle but strong, possessing the qualities of a patient man and a confident mage, "I would like to take classes in the ways of some specific magics, if they are available..Do you have.." he looked down to a book he held open, reading off a list, "Alchemy, magecraft, reimancy, and auristics? I've not much money at the time, so maybe just one or two, I would much prefer reimancy though. Also, on that note. You wouldn't happen to know where a novice alchemist or a mage competent in auristics and reimancy could find some work?" He closed his book, shoving it into one of the pockets of his robe.

Due to the nature of the field, the head of the arcane department needs to speak to all new students to determine their suitability for admission, particularly in a field such as reimancy."

He made a note on a paper in front of him. "Once you're finished here, you can find him in the Wright Library. If you're accepted, he'll determine the price for your classes. He'll also know more about what alchemical or arcane jobs might be there for you."

[Azilis Theroulde]

As Azilis glanced at the knots of students talking and laughing and the heavy wood paneling of the walls of the Registrar's office, she breathed in deep and smiled: home. She stepped forward in the line, trailing her fingers through her thick, red-gold hair. At last the time had come when she herself could study at the University. She had waited for years, watching her father teach a myriad of different classes and then her brother attend University for himself. For all her life in Zeltiva, she had been on the fringes of University life, but never a part of it. That was about to change. “Hello, Registrar Sanderson,” she greeted, smiling as she spoke. “I'm Azilis Theroulde. Professor Theroulde's daughter? You might remember him; he retired last year. His bones, you know. He's getting old.” She sighed. “Anyway. I was looking to take some summer courses in history, or the ancient tongues, if you've got that – and then Auristics.” She paused, as if embarrassed, and then continued: “And have you...er...got any jobs, as well? Money's getting a bit tight, now that Father's retired. And I can write well. I could be a research assistant, or – or whatever's needed.”

Sanderson gave a rare smile. With so many out-of-towners coming through Zeltiva, thinking they were just going to waltz through their courses, it was nice to see someone who knew the University from the inside.

"Of course-- I knew your father well. Give him my regards when you see him next, won't you? At any rate, we've got several history classes available, depending on what you want, and if you want to do linguistics study involving the ancient tongues, I imagine the linguistics department could help you with that. As for Auristics, as I'm sure you know, you'll have to talk to Professor Stonemiller about that, as he decides who gets into the program and who doesn't."

"We've always got jobs. You're welcome to ask your professors if they need any research assistants; otherwise, I've got an opening here in the Registrar's Office, should that interest you."

He shuffled several papers in front of him. "So, which combination of courses seem to appeal to you?"

[Azilis Theroulde]

Azilis nodded. "I'll certainly give him your regards, sir. He'll be glad to hear from you. Now, as to the classes...." She bit her lip as she concentrated, doing sums in her head and calculating the cost of attending summer classes. "Well, let's see here. I think I've only enough money for two classes this summer, so if Auristics is one and Professor Stonemiller lets me in, let's make the other one...a class in Nader-canoch? I'd love to learn it. Besides, I expect that if I take that, I'll get a healthy dose of ancient history along with it, won't I?" She grinned. "Oh, and about that job. Working here in the Registrar Office sounds fine, if you'd have me."

"Right then," Sanderson said in agreement. "You'll find Stonemiller in the library, as always; as for Nader-Canoch, you'll meet with Roger Edgetower in the linguistics department in two days."

"And yes, I'd love the help. Come by tomorrow, and we'll start you on your work."

[Aidemma Kim]

13th of Summer, 510

There had been a long line for the Registrar's office today. Standing in the long stone hall the hot summer air had begun to settle on the crowd, and make the empty spaces in the already cramped hall feel close and small. Finally the line had dwindled, and Aidemma stepped slowly up to the massive desk. Dipping into a small curtsy Aidemma glanced about the room before speaking.

“Hello sir, I've just arrived and I was wondering if it would be possible to take some courses in Anthropology or Linguistics?” she looked at her toes before realizing she'd failed to introduce herself, “My name is Aidemma Kim by the way.” Aidemma wondered how many classes she would be able to take, how much she could afford. She didn't have a job right now, but then the University was a big place, if they didn't have one for her, someone probably knew where she could find one.
