Physical Description Vathas is the quintessential Symenestra predator; his facial features are delicate yet defined, perfect for catching the fancy of potential surrogate mothers. His complexion is white and flawless, in stark contrast to his pitch black hair. His eyes are a bluish-purple hue, akin to amethyst or indigo. He's incredibly light for his height, only 115 pounds at 5'8"; he is rather skinny, but not obscenely so. Rather, he simply has no excess body fat, his weight consisting primarily of small but very tight and compacted muscle. This allows him to run and strike at remarkable speeds, but also move silently or remain motionless for extended periods of time. He doesn't typically wear the attire common among his Web, electing instead to wear clothes that allow him to blend more easily in human society, typically a black shirt and white pants, each hugging his form tightly. He also has his right ear pierced in three places with small steel hoops, his left with two. The others don't exactly approve, as it goes against tradition, but Vathas has always been a bit of an outsider among his own. The one thing he does wear to honor his heritage is a web of thin but very strong black silk over his pants. In any case, they understand that his attire is a means to an end. An end that, hopefully, favors the Symenestra race as a whole.

Character Concept Personality: Vathas is a rather complicated individual. On the outside, he tends to be what you might expect of a Symenestra youth; cold, resentful, somewhat rebellious, swathed in an air mysterious tragedy, et cetera. And indeed these sorts of things make up a significant part of his persona, but they are not all that is there; behind his aloof facade lies a person who cares very much about those close to him, few though they may be. To these people, such as his elder brother Savath, he's been known to be very warm and affectionate. As a devout follower of Viratas, he sees the connections between races and peoples, recognizing that each soul is a part of the same cycle. This faith reinforces the sense of unfailing loyalty to his Web instilled in every Symenestra child. On the other hand, Vathas enjoys a complete disregard for the suffering of strangers. He is slow to anger, as a result of his personal apathy, and even when provoked will usually wait to retaliate until the offender is vulnerable and unprepared, often with sudden lethal force. Very rarely will he pick a fight if the odds aren't stacked in his favor. He's certainly no coward, but he's no fool, either. He is merciless when pursuing an objective, but not unreasonably so; if unprovoked and able to complete an objective without killing or hurting anybody, he will. Again, as a follower of Viratas, he recognizes the sanctity of life. Ethics: Vathas will not kill those who are not his enemy. That said, his definition of enemy might be considered somewhat vague by another's standards. If someone infuriates him too much, they are an enemy. If someone stands in his way, they are an enemy. If he requires aid and someone refuses to provide it, they are an enemy. For each life he ruins or ends, though, he goes out of his way to improve or save another. Character History Vathas might be a little young, but he has earned his role; he has initiated his journey for the Harvest and left Kalinor with the blessings of his Web. Though you would never guess from his demeanor, his eagerness to follow and eventually surpass his brother Savath is his driving motivation. Vathas, though, has less interest in siring a child and more in expanding his own power and experience. Yes, he also hopes to advance the Symenestra race in some way, but the Harvest was more of an excuse to leave Kalinor. It has a lot to do with his father, Devren; Devren was a very successful Harvester, having sired two sons and a daughter, Nesaveth. As such, he had dozens upon dozens of incredible stories about the great cities of Mizahar and the seemingly endless wild lands between them. While Savath was preoccupied with the idea of the Harvest and the plight of their people, and Nesaveth began the study of an artisan, Vathas became enamored of his father's stories, and longed to have such stories told about him, everywhere all across Mizahar. As time went on, a number of things became very apparent to the elders of their Web; Vathas was very skilled, and very ambitious. He was always sneaking off just beyond the caverns of Kalinor, and eventually he stopped getting scolded for it. Soon the elders took notice of the way the girls looked at him, and decided that they would begin training him; he would learn to imitate, to deceive, to act, even to seduce; he would learn to hide, to move silently, to disguise himself, to blend; and he would learn to kill, quickly and quietly. Vathas learned to be deliberate with his body, a master of control. At the end of his training, he had become the ultimate predator. At that point, Vathas knew that all of his work had paid off; he had but to vow to undertake the Harvest, and he was free to roam the lands as he pleased. The long and short of it is this: he did. Now he wanders from city to city, searching for a true purpose, using his skills to finance his journey.
