The journey across the Suvan sea from The Anchorage Flotilla required strenuous effort demanding difficult spans of time standing behind the wheel of his casinor ‘The Delphian’. However, when things seemed bleak during the long nights of sailing, Tiernan could picture Fionnula's smiling face to give him the will to carry on. He needed to be strong for her because he believed, like many Svefra, that if someone isn't strong enough to hold onto something then they do not deserve to have it. He had personally learned that strength did not come without suffering from he was initiated into reimancy at the age of ten. Pain was apart of life and those who didn't know how to use it and turn it to an advantage was weak. It was becoming a rough learning experience as he found new ways to use the concepts of suffering to help him become a better father. Often passing the days staring out into the open seas with only Fionnula to talk to, smiling as he knew he was giving her the life she deserved by carrying all her burdens.
He had grown to understand his daughter's love of the sea, urge for family, freedom, and adventure. So to make Fionnula happy he did and taught her many different things. By simply being with her he taught her the meaning of being apart of a family; with family came freedom to let her do as she wished, often letting her go off swimming alone while accompanied by his Tavan shark Garloth. To ease her daydreams of adventure he would tell her stories of exotic, colorful lands and imaginary places. To help Fionnula express her love of the sea he let her help him sail to any dock, harbors, or beaches that he felt like going to. It was why he decided to sail to
The Great Harbor of Syliras.
Tiernan stood bare chested while steering the The Delphian towards the dock, his attention split between watching the multitude of ships departing or arriving to the port; and Fionnula checking the fenders that hung from the sides of the ship made of thick bundles of rope to prevent the hull from crashing against the dock.
“Ease’er off the main’sheet! I‘ll taker‘er into dock!” Tiernan spoke aloud commanding his daughter to lower the sail to slow the ship as he began to steer The Delphian’s wheel to guide the Casinor to dock safely.
“Okay’Pa” The sounds of bare feet on wood were heard distinctly in the morning air, as the little girl ran towards the mast trying to untie the sails and secure the rigging. He waited for about a minute before wondering why the sail wasn't drawn in yet.
“Fi? Aye said ease’er off!”Tiernan glanced from the docks to his daughter, calculating how long it would be before he would drift right into the dock.
“Pa, aye can untie your rig’knot! Its’too tight!” A smirk formed on his lips as he moved from the wheel of the ship to the Delphian's mast, quickly starting to untie the halyard rope's knot on the mast; the rope that raise or lower the main sail. He started to pull the rigging which caused the sail to collapse into itself and hug the mast. Once the sail was down the Delphian’s speed decreased dramatically as it could no longer catch any wind.
After retaking his position behind the wheel Tiernan began to dock to a pier on the port-side of his Casinor. As the left side front side of the ship was nest to the dock, the back was still dangling away from the docks. Steering the wheel in the opposite direction he caused a reverse force to be applied to the stern of the ship making it tail whip and swing around slowly toward the pier. The fenders that hung from the side of the Casinor doing their jobs as they kept the hull of the ship from banging into the pier. Once the ship stopped along side the dock Tiernan step down onto the dock to secure the bow-line to the pier.
As his back was turned Tiernan could hear the clanking of heavy metal armor accompanied by thundering heavy steps. He quirked an eye brow as he looked over his shoulder to see a Syliran Knight dressed head to toe in armor. At first glance he couldn't even decipher what the man looked like, expression, or even what the persons body language was saying due to the armor. The partially half naked Svefra lifted his left hand to run his fingers through his hair. His vibrantly blue, white, and green Oceanus Mark appearing on his left arm like waves crashing against his body body. Often made up of hundreds of colors of blue, green, and white, the Laviku Mark is among one of the most colorful and large gnosis' found anywhere on Mizahar. It was the main reason why he wore no shirt since his Laviku mark migrate to his arm for the day. The waves themselves are often seen as foaming or swirling.
A minute passed as Tiernan could only guess whether the knight was trying to gauge if he was a thief or not.
"Hail, knight-person... Aye'd address you as Ser, but for all I know you might possibly be a 'Sera' under that helmet." The statement caused Fionnula to spy on them from the ship by peaking over the railing. The knight glanced to Fionnula before turning a helmeted head back towards him.
"That's funny." The male knight spoke clearly unamused at being thought of as a female.
"You are not scheduled to dock. Report immediately to the Commerce and Trade Commission to pay your docking fees." Despite the fact that he couldn't tell how the knight was feeling, he did expect to be asked to pay the fee.
"Don't worry Knight. Aye'll'be doing that right away." As the knight started to continue his patrol of the docks he made one smart remark without looking at Tiernan.
"And put a shirt on..." The comment caused Tiernan to laugh softly to himself as he stepped aboard The Delphian.
