Introducing the New Courier of Zeltiva

Ruebia
Summer 30th, 513 AV

It was unbearably hot again, but what else was new? Ruebia plucked at the half cape around her shoulders, it stopped right at the peak of her bosom, above her elbows and was the color of the Wave Guard uniforms. With the short sleeved top and the tights and boots she wore, she was sweating already as she stepped out of the Customs Office. But what could she do? It had a scroll sewn on the back, denoting her as a Zeltivan Courier and honestly the only one that she knew of. She was to deliver packages to and from the citizens of her home city, creating a convenience to her fellow Zeltivans. With her agility and youth and knowledge of the street plan of the city she was ideal for carting letters and messages back and forth through, or over as she preferred, the streets. And hopefully as the news of a courier spread throughout the city, she could earn extra money carrying messages between other citizens more privately. She wasn't a nosy type when it came to others affairs. Unless there were practical knowledges offered to her plainly, she would not seek them out.

Now she was on her way to the General Store where Halabin Clarke awaited with a package to deliver to Worlds Inn Grotto. It wasn't a long walk from the Customs Office to the General Store. And when Ruebia walked through, her half cape fluttering in the wind, Mr. Clarke smiled at her and mentioned her inside. She walked to the counter where he stood and leaned lightly against it, waiting for her first package.

"Now then, I thought you were leaving on a journey, Ruebia. I didn't think you'd be the new Courier." he said, one arm braced on the counter as he leaned towards her.

"Aye, I still am. I've decided to leave at the ending of the season. I think Fall will be a better season to travel in. It's so hot now." she replied, giving him a dimpled smile.

"Well that cape sure doesn't help does it?" Mr. Clarke quipped and Ruebia shook her head in agreement. "But speaking of the cape, heres Miss Danelle's package. Be careful with it and get it to her quickly." He handed her a medium sized package with a scroll tied on top. It could easily be held and she tucked it under one arm.

"I will. I'm going now." She nodded once and left the store, holding the package tightly but not tightly enough to crush it. She walked briskly along the streets, it would take her a few chimes to get from the store to the inn. She would be faster if she ran but this was her first package and she didn't want to accidently drop it. She made it to the Inn without incident and went straight to the desk where Serra was instead of by the door where she usually stood. She smiled as she saw Ruebia coming and Rue noticed her glance at the package and Ruebia's new half cape. When she reached the desk, she held out the package directly to Serra and smiled.

"A package for you, Serra." she said simply, and gave her a hopefully professional smile that was warmed by her pride in her first success. Serra smiled warmly back and handed the package to one of her clerks who immediately went in the back with it. She gave Ruebia a pat on the head and congratulated her on a job well done. Ruebia beamed. This was one of the rare moments where her Kelvic nature showed through, she liked helping others.

"Do you have a package you wish to deliver?" she asked Serra and when Serra shook her head she nodded and walked back outside. The man who had gave her job had suggested she walk through the more common streets of Zeltiva to find more work as any official deliveries were over for the day. Any citizen that passed by would notice her curvy yet athletic physique, her arms and legs lightly muscled with years of physical activity. She walked gracefully, brushing past the people she walked by without upsetting them too much. If anyone needed a package to be delivered quickly and safely she was there.

Introducing the New Courier of Zeltiva

Postby Kujyaku on July 9th, 2013, 12:45 pm

Kujyaku was walking down the street, being a Syna's Ethaefal, she was always a bit self-conscious walking down the street with almost all humans. Her olive skin almost glowing with a rosy gold hue , horns a shade of peach, and her hair a pale brown, with golden highlights running down it, she definably felt out of place. It didn't bother Kuj though, the heat was getting at her the most, and she wished it would be nighttime soon, but the wish wasn't going to be coming true for a few hours at least. Kuj walked into a place she saw called the General Store, the place was alight and there was a basic counter in the store.
"Hello there!" He shouted out, welcoming her to come in. "You are a new face around here, what is your name?" His voice was strong and very happy. Kuj let out a sign of relief. This was not at all what she thought the townspeople were going to be like. She released her tenseness and replied.

"My name is Kujyaku." Simple. More would be bragging, and less would be antisocial. Kuj then let out a soft smile.

"Well hello then Kujyaku. Its a pleasure to meet you, how may I help you on this day?" He smiled, as if I was the only customer in the town, as if I was the only one here.
"Yea, I have a bigger order today though. May I have an ounce of cherries, an ounce of mint, and sage…" The clerk starting writing it all down. "One pint of honey, one pound of sausage, and one dozen eggs." He continued to write, then looked up to Kuj. She smiled and continued talking. "Two eight ounce glass jars, Two dinner forks, a 2-quart cooking pot, and two 6" clay dishes." He stopped his writing, and looked up. Kuj smiles.
"What are doing? Having a party?" He asked jokingly, getting the items and putting them in a box.

"Actually, because I am new, I thought that I would try to meet new people…." Kuj looks away, embarrassed by her irrational-actions. He just chuckles, and writes down the total.
"That will be 3 gold Mizas, and 5 copper Mizas." Kej quickly handed him the money, relieved because she only brought 4 Gold Mizas. "Be careful with that box. It is very heavy." Kuj nods, as he continues, "Take care, and have a good day. I think I saw a Courier around here that came in earlier"

Kuj walked out of the store, onto the streets. Just moving into Zelvita, she had a small cottage in the outskirts of town. For the little muscles that Kuj had, the box was feeling especially heavy, not to mention the heat. Kuj had always heard about the Couriers that would send packages out for you, and there notable outfit also, they wouldn't be hard to find, but today she hasn't seen anyone. Maybe she was on a non-busy street. She decided to risk it and go on the busiest street in all of Zelvita. Her house was close to that street. She would just avoid the stares she got.
As Kujyaku walked down the street, her arms getting heavy, she was now desperately looking for a Courier. When she suddenly saw the uniform on a women with more muscles then herself. She looked very athletic, but feminine at the same time.
"Um excuse me…" Kujyaku called out, hoping desperately that she would hear over the muffling of the box.
"Could you deliver this to my house, I am a new here and clearly underestimated the distance." Kuj then started to mumble off, as if talking to herself, then loudly exclaimed, "Darn it! I spent all my money!" Kuj's arms were shaking desperately, and was about to drop her box, spilling everything everywhere. "I know! You can eat this food with me, if you don't mind…"

Introducing the New Courier of Zeltiva

Postby Ruebia on August 8th, 2013, 8:36 pm

Ruebia

Ruebia was examining a nearby store's wares when she heard a request behind her. She turned to find the source and immediately noticed a woman holding a fairly sized box. She was obviously struggling with the box and Rue rushed over to hold up the other end. It was then, as she got closer, that she took note of the woman's appearance.

At the young age of two, Ruebia had never seen an Ethaefel before and she froze, astonished by the sight before her. The woman's pale brown hair was at best pretty and her skin, nearly gilded in appearance earned a second glance but it was her horns that made Rue stare. And stare she did, her turquoise eyes slitted like a cats and unblinking, a testament to her feline side. She still held onto the box in her frozen state and when the woman spoke, offering food as payment she blinked finally and tried to give her best smile. A few months ago she would have bluntly asked the woman what she was, her insatiable curiosity compelling her to find out. But as most Kelvics, she grew and matured quickly and she kept her thirst for knowledge at bay on order to assist the woman. After all she was a customer.

As she urged the woman to release her hold in the box, she realized she didn't know the rate for personal deliveries. She had forgotten to ask before she left the customs office. She hadn't really thought about the monetary profit of this job before she took it. It had come suddenly and without prior notice. She had been in the customs office after escorting a new citizen around and she had seen the Help Wanted ad on a bulletin board. She had perused the paper, her curiosity the normal cause and it was a good opportunity to practice her reading. As she read, a man had approached her from behind and cleared his throat loudly, causing Rue to jump and turn around quickly.

"I don't think that position is suitable for you, my dear." the man had said, looking her up and down. "It requires more..." he trailed off there and Ruebia wished she could hiss in her human form. Such instant forms of judgment weren't common in the normally peaceful city of Zeltiva, but it wasn't uncommon either. Just then a sailor she recognized clapped a heavy hand over her shoulder.
"More what, sir? If there be anyone more suited for this job then I'll sell me ship. I know this lass, good head on her shoulders, fast and strong. And she knows Zeltiva like the back of her hand. And plus she'll look good in that cape, I wager." he said the last with a smirk and a poke of his elbow to the man's arm. By the look on the man's face, he hadn't appreciated the joke.

"I'm terribly sorry, but we have standards to uphold." he said, rubbing his arm. The sailor's face began to darken and Rue had begun to think she would have to step away when another man stepped up besides them.

"Now then, Jules, every standard we hold has been meet by the captain's testament. The young lady looks dependable enough. Come along, miss. We are incredibly short on couriers and an application with a reference is more than we can hope for right now." And he pulled her away and into a nearby office. He asked her a few simple questions and after deeming her appropriate for the job, gave her the half cloak and told her to report to the office at noon the next day.

This new job changed the normal dynamic of her day. In the wee hours of the morning she trained herself, pushing her body to it's limits and becoming more and more adequate with her short bow. At noon when the sun was high in the sky, she figured she would report to the office from now on. Monetary gain aside, it would give Rue something to do with her days until she left in the fall. And she was slow to admit it but it soothed an itch in her, one that needed to help and serve. She loathed that part in her but assisting the citizens of Zeltiva made her feel satisfied. And it was with that mindset that she took the box from the woman.

"It's alright ma'am, there's no charge. I'll be happy to help. In which direction is your home?" she said, easily holding the box.

OOCI am so sorry for the wait, RL is hectic right now.

Introducing the New Courier of Zeltiva

When the woman came close to her, it didn’t take a box to notice she has never seen an Ethaefal before. Kuj let out a soft chuckle, she got this a lot, so she was quite amused.

“Thank you so much. I couldn’t of done with without you! I would of spilled all my yummy ingredients.” Kujyaku’s eyes went large, she just said “yummy” out loud. Shaking it off, she handed the box to the woman, and finally let her arms relax. Letting out a very loud sigh, and shaking her arms. She saw the woman’s eyes slit, and she knew that it must of been some type of Cat Kelvic. Kujyaku thought of Yumi, her tiger bondmate, and laughed. Yumi would do this when she was confused. Kujyaku pointed a hand out, in the direction of her house. As they started walking Kujyaku spoke up.

“My name is Kujyaku. I am an Ethaefal. They aren’t very common in Zeltiva, but I have been reborn because Syna has chosen me. So at night, my horns will go away, and I will become human!” Kujyaku smiled, and noticed that the woman wasn’t even struggling. “My house is almost here!” Kujyaku saw the small cottage in the distance, as they kept walking. They got there soon, and she fetched the key out of her dresses pocket. Unlocking the door swiftly, Kujyaku quickly stepped in with the woman following her.

“Please. Stay for lunch! I bought too much, so I wanted to make some tea and sausage. I am a okay cook, no poison here!” Kujyaku motioned to a chair, and went over to her cupboard, which was filled with glasses, utensils, and dishes. Kujyaku took two dishes, forks, and violet glass jars. She set them up at the table, and looking at the woman. “So, have you lived in Zeltiva your whole life? What is your backstory if you don’t mind me asking.” Kujyaku quickly went to her fireplace, filling her 2-quart cooking pot with water. “And if you can see, I am not taking no for an answer! I love having company over, and if you know it or not, that box was heavy!” Kujyaku took out her ounce of cherries and mint, and started to chop them up with her knife. Chopping at a moderate pace, she needed them to be as small as possible, as to put in the water.

“Whoa. I did buy too much food!” Kujyaku looked at all her food, and was thinking about the meal she had already planned. She glanced over at the water, which was bubbling now. Quickly she put in the cherries and mint. “I hope cherry and mint tea is alright!” The mint a cherries quickly seeped in, and with a swift motion, Kujyaku poured the tea into the cups. Taking out her honey, she quickly put some in. “I hope it is good, it is just something simple.”

Kujyaku poured new water in, and tossed in sage and the sausage in. “This might take a long time to cook, so if you want to stay, you are more then welcome to. I also bought eggs. Haha... I love to shop.”
