Birthplace: Syrilas Appearance: Ethan has pale skin, leading himself to look like an Inarta, though Ethan as tried to tan during his travels to Sylirian guard posts it usually ends up more as a burn. His hair is a dark red that sometime in the past his bloodline was mixed with Inarta parentage. People often comment that he his focused eyes seemed to stare into them. This is due to his personality of intense focus on a task and then choosing a course of action. Though his body is lean, his arms and chest filled out to meet the demand of his work as a farrier. Standing at 5'10, Ethan use to slouch a little in order not to be notice by people, now with newfound confidence he is standing tall. When Ethan is amused, he gets a sly smile and a soft laugh that comes out. Malice or guile is the last thought anyone would have about Ethan. However, deep within him lies a driving need to be great and famous. His mind is forever working on, but until lately he hasn’t seem to gain additional focus and a plan has started to come together. Normally Ethan wears tough homespun cloth that can take the rigors of his trade. His shirts often have Iron dust or dark smudges from forge work, while his pants have stains of mud or grass. His leather work boots are old and worn. The leather around the soul is permanently stained darker from the various fluids he needed to work in. While the tops of the boots are cracked and scuffed from the sun. Character Concept Like anyone, Ethan strives to be something more, something greater than himself. Though the easy route for someone in Syliras is to become a knight, Ethan has feels that though the knights keep law, order and peace, that it is only on the surface and that there is no room for compromise when one breaks the rules. Ethan instead prefers thoughts and solution to a problem instead of the brute force that is often the first tool chosen by a knight. He is forever caught in an internal debate; the knights are agents of good and protect the general populace. Yet, the cost of that protection is at the loss of thought, merely do and perform what the knight’s request. Ethan realizes that a great deal of the knights pay for services and have allowed for roads to some cities to be opened and traveled. Ethan can't argue that they have done good and provided a source of stability, but he questions where and when are they going to take the next step. He has never spoken about his thoughts to anyone and won't; instead he prefers to tells jokes or daydreams about his plans. After years of tedious work, Ethan has scraped enough together to buy a book on Philtering and is trying to better himself by choosing a better profession. He dreams of learning world magics and beating back the wilderness through magic and thought. Character History Ethan was born in Syliras. He came from a big family and has five brothers and 2 sisters. Ethan being the third child learned from his father and grandfather the art of a farrier. However, his older brother had the focus of his father. Thankfully, his grandfather gave Ethan schooling in Animal Husbandry as well as medicine, since neither of his brothers cared to learn about heal a diseased animal. As the family grew Ethan spent his days picking herbs for his grandfather and learning Pavi from the Drykas transplant. Why the man had left the grasslands when he was but a teen, Ethan never knew, but he grew up hearing the tales of clan and the pavilion. When his grandfather died, Ethan was sadden that such an important man in his life was gone. He was given a single object by him, his wedding ring so that he may find the love and glory to do the impossible. The next few years of his life Ethan, went about his job with mechanic skill and attention. His father, not a cruel man but busy with his other sons, let Ethan tend the forges and review the hoofs of animals for signs of disease. Slowly, Ethan came out of his depression at the lost of his grandfather and began to plan his own escape from the life he found himself in. Ethan saved till he could by himself a book on philtering. Instead of getting married, Ethan has devoted his savings on improving his room and buying equipment for Philtering experiments. |
