Time stamp: 50th Day of Fall, 511 AV

It was another peaceful day in the city of Ravok, where most of the people within, went about their day, completely unaware of the problems from the outside world. Rhysol's grace touched them all, and nothing, not even the changing of weather would happen without his approval. And so it would be on this day, as it was on any other that things would pass as normal. Kyra was amongst those people simply going about her day and working to earn more coin. She had accompanied Marcelo into a local tavern where they would put on a show for those inside.

While normally they played the bigger crowds, and outside in arenas where ever they could find them, they also had to take the work that was offered, even if it were a tiny spot in the lesser known taverns. But the magician was optimistic, and so was his young companion. Kyra was dressed as she normally was while performing, a dark tanned-maroon/red leather outfit, with matching gloves and boots. The girl stood off to the side for the moment and watched the magician go to work. Her small hands were planted to each side of her slender hips, and she shifted her legs about every now and then, and also lifted them to applaud whenever Marcelo did something worth wild.

When it was her turn to help, Kyra stepped up and removed a long dagger from the magician's chest box. It was a unique looking piece, and looked more like a huge knife than anything. Kyra turned her head slightly towards the crowd, a dark and yet mischievous look upon her face as she moved her free hand up and around to display the dagger for them all to see. She waited until the magician was ready, then took aim at the board where he had three apples pinned. The young kelvic was nervous, even though she had practiced this move before, doing so in front of a crowd was different.

Kyra found her aim, she remembered what Marcelo had taught her and that he also placed his trust into her not to screw up his show. Her wide gaze rested on the center apple and she raised her arm and flung the dagger towards it. It was fast and even her eyes couldn't follow it completely, there was a snap and a slush as the dagger drove itself into the apple. The crowd smiled and lightly applauded, much to Kyra's relief. She returned to the chest and pulled out a second dagger and readied herself to attempt to nail one of the two apples left.

By the end of the act, Kyra had successfully stabbed all three apples from across the floor. She was excited by her success, and the cheers from the crowds made it all the better. Marcelo was also proud of his assistant, and afterwards the show continued and by the end they had made more coin than he had thought they would. The two left after they were done and headed home for a rest. Of course, the night wasn't over as Marcelo would head back out to put the keys that he had stolen to use and break in homes and steal their valuables.

Kyra normally went with him, but she had gotten sick from something that she had ate earlier. The young kelvic could eat just about anything, but all things didn't agree with her. So she would stay home, and this time he would go it alone. However, something else was amidst. There was another thief on the loose, a man that had been watching them for some time. He was there in the tavern, he saw the coin that they made and figured they would be a good target to go after. He hadn't made up his mind yet, until he saw Marcelo leave.

Back in their apartment, Kyra undressed herself from the slightly uncomfortable outfit and into a simple white night shirt. Marcelo stood near by going into his pack for an herb that he gave to Kyra to help with her stomach. After drinking a mug of milk, the young kelvic laid down for a nap. Marcelo stayed beside the bed and watched her for a bit. Her sickness didn't seem like anything serious, but he wanted to make sure that she could at least sleep peacefully before he left.

Marcelo could still remember the world that he pulled her out of, and the fragile state that she was in when he saved her. The young kelvic was almost beyond any human reasoning and it took him a while and hard work to bring her out of it. When it finally happened he was relieved, and their relationship continued to grow from that day. He sat silently by the bed for chimes more before he leaned forward and gently brushed his hand across her pale cheek. The girl didn't wake, just a quick involuntary twitch, followed by soft purring from his touch.

He left soon after, locked the door behind him, and headed off to work for the evening. He hadn't noticed the thief lurking near by, who waited a chime more before he would attempt to break into Marcelo's home. The thief crouched by the door and opened up his kit and took from it the items that he needed to open the lock. He was a skilled thief and it didn't take him long before he heard the lock slip and the door slowly opened.

He peeked in first, waiting and listening for any signs of movement or footsteps. The thief crept into the dimly lit room and continued to look around cautiously. He knew that Marcelo had left, but he hadn't seen Kyra leave and wondered where she was. Finally, he saw her laying on the bed asleep. The man was a thief, a liar, and a crook, but he hadn't stooped to harming kids just yet. Instead he stepped as lightly as he could across the floor and started to look for items of worth.

Kyra was silent, laying on the bed sound asleep and hadn't moved even an inch. The thief figured that he would search the areas furthermost away from the bed first and come back towards that side of the room just as he was about to leave. That way, he wouldn't risk waking her, and could escape faster. All seemed to be working fine at first, and he had half a bag filled with small items that he imagined would fetch a good price. That was until Kyra opened her eyes.

The thief went about his business stealing anything he could fit into his bang. He found an assortment of items placed on top of a mid sized chest and went to check it out. The thief hadn't realized that the kelvic had woken up. He was too busy raking the items into his bang. Besides the items that he stole for profit, Marcelo also kept a small collection for himself. Each item, no matter how meaning less it appeared, was taken from a house that he had broken in to.

Kyra slowly sat up on the bed and watched him silently. She didn't say a word, and she moved carefully to keep the bed from making any sounds. The young kelvic sniffed the air and knew at once that the dark figure across from her wasn't someone that she knew, and wasn't supposed to be there. It wasn't Marcelo, it wasn't one of his friends, this she knew by his scent. There was also the fact that Marcelo told her when ever they were to expect company, and he hadn't said anything of the sort.

Kyra slowly pulled her legs in under her, her small hands gripping the bed tightly, as she curled her back over and prepared to pounce on him. Just as the thief finished stuffing his bang, he turned around to the sight of the girl launching herself off the bed those him. He doubled back and stepped to the side just in time to avoid her pounce.

"Settle down kid..take it easy.."

The thief tried to reason with her, but Kyra wouldn't hear of it. She crouched low on the floor, her bold eyes staring hard at him as she hissed and gnarled. Suddenly she darted forward and jumped into his arms. The man stumbled backwards and grabbed her arms as he slung her back onto the bed. He didn't want to hurt the girl, he wasn't that type of man. He had been careless somehow and awoken her and now he needed to escape quickly.

"Calm down before you get hurt kid. You don't want this fight!"

The thief made his voice harder and more fearsome, hoping that would scare the girl into staying put. But it didn't Kyra was enraged, this man had entered her home and for all she knew, he was there to harm her or Marcelo once he returned. She hissed at him again as she stepped back off the bed and crept towards him again. The young girl raced towards him again, swinging her fist towards his jaw and followed it up with a kick towards his ribs.

The thief blocked the punch and the kick from the young kelvic and stepped back to ready himself for another attack. He had to come up with a plan now, and something quick. It was obvious by her movements, that the girl had been trained to fight. Worst, she was fast and hungry, which made it hard to handle her without going the extra mile and beating on her. He refused to take that route, he was better than that. The man wasn't the best of thieves, but he thought himself above such actions as harming children. He would just have to tire her out, or wait for her to make a mistake...

Adrenaline was fueling Kyra's every move, her heart thumping away and pumping blood to her limbs which allowed her to continue to move quickly and stay on her toes. Having her attacks blocked didn't even phase her, the young kelvic continued her assault, throwing more punches and kicks towards the thief even though she could already feel her skin bruising from the contact. She was young, wild, and undisciplined. It didn't take long for her to screw up, and when she did the thief saw his chance.

"That's enough!"

He lifted the girl up easily and tossed her back onto the bed aggressively, hoping to knock the wind out of her for a bit, at least long enough for him to tie her down. But, true to her kelvic nature, Kyra landed on her feet, knees bent and hands pressed against the bed to steady herself. The girl jumped up again, using the bed to propel herself higher, as she lifted a knee and rammed it right under the man's chin. There was a sickening thud as he teeth clenched, even raking his tongue.

The thief groaned and stumbled back while holding his mouth. He was shaken up, vision blurred and even his hearing seemed to sense a high pitched squeal. With his senses off, the man took his eyes off the girl, who pounced off the bed and onto him. A reflex occurred, and without thinking, the thief grabbed the small body that lowered onto him and swung it around hard and slammed her into the wall.

Kyra cried out, a surprised gasp that ended with a whistling squeal slipped from her mouth as she dropped to the floor. The man was now pissed, enraged, and his violent actions continued. He reached down, lifting the girl off the floor and tossing her across the room, where she tumbled over a table and landed with a thud on the floor.

The moment that he attacked, the Thief wished that he hadn't. The tick that it took him, to reach down, lift the tiny girl up, and then toss her across the floor as if she were a pillow, was all regrettable now. "Shyke." The first thought that crossed his mind was that he had killed the girl, and he didn't want a child's death on his conscious. The man rubbed at his chin, unsure of what to do, until he noticed the girl move again.

Kyra had landed hard, but by first falling on the table slowed her motion and impact as she tumbled onto the floor. The young kelvic moaned softly as she started to move again. She had bumped her head, her surroundings becoming hazy and her movements slowed. But through the fog, she noticed something on the floor in front of her. A glinting of light that flickered into a small stake and back. It was her dagger, the one that she had left on the table after she returned home.

She reached out for it and wrapped her trembling fingers around the handle tightly and pulled it close to her chest. Her legs shifted around on the floor a bit, and she rolled herself over turning her back to the man completely. "Alright kitten, that's enough, you've made your point but we're done and I have to go." The thief said as he rumbled through his backpack to find a coil of thin rope.

The man walked towards Kyra, ready to tie her up and end their battle once and for all. However, the young kelvic had a different plan. The moment that the thief was close enough, Kyra twirled herself around on her side and slashed her dagger at his leg trying to cut him down. Luckily for the thief he saw her and was able to jump back in time before her dagger ripped through his ankle. "Damnit kid, when are you going to call it a day!?!

He was more than pissed now, and if it were possible, he would probably leave and forget the whole thing. But no, he knew he wouldn't make it if he turned his back on her. And if he did, what was stopping her from calling for help. No, he had to deal with the girl and silence her so that he could make his escape...a task that had gotten that much harder. Kyra crouched low on the ground, her eyes raised and focused on him as she hissed and growled under her breath. Suddenly, she jumped up and darted towards him with a wild swing towards his throat with the dagger.

The thief quickly swung his backpack upward to block the incoming dagger. The blade easily sliced through the material and ripping a hole into it. The sound was crisp, and the eyes of the Bandit widen as he realized what had happened. Tiny items fell from the pack, slipping out of the hole that the kelvic had created. Kyra ripped the dagger away from the pack, then bent her knees and lowered herself as she slashed at his gut.

"Shyke!"

The thief pushed the backpack lower just in time to block the dagger again. Another deep slash ripped into the bag and opening it up further. More small items started to tumble out as the fight continued. Kyra slashed and jabbed the dagger at him again and again, but he blocked her with the backpack each time. Parchment, charms, coin, and leather bits were flung into the air with each slice of the dagger and each swing of the backpack. Viscous flurries continued to attack the pack, but neither side would fall back.

Still, the thief realized if it continued on for much longer, he wouldn't have a shield to use any longer. Finally, he took a wild swing with the backpack, shoving it into her arm hard enough to knock the dagger free. Kyra spun around, shifted her legs before jerking forward to stuff a foot into his crouch. "Not happening." The thief said, reaching out and catching the girl's foot just before it hit him below his belt.

Kyra gasped in surprise, but quickly regained her footing, as she used his strength to lift herself, bringing her other leg up to slam into the side of his neck. The thief saw it at the same tick, he even felt the shift in her movements and tried to push her backwards and away from him. The move only half worked, and while it did send the young kelvic backwards and back onto the bed, it didn't protect him from her kick. Kyra tumbled back onto the bed once again, feeling very dizzy by now from all the back and forth that went on.

But she had to fight on, she had to protect their home and take down the thief. They were both tired, bruised and using the last of their second wind. The thief was ready to end it, and he realized that he would have to take the girl down to get her to stop. As soon as she scurried from the bed and raced towards him again, the thief dashed forward quickly and tackled her to the floor. Kyra gave a loud, sharp gash as she was hit and felt the air forced from within her lungs. She landed hard on the ground, her tiny frame almost turned inside out from the viscous blow. Her limbs were motionless, body limp as she laid beneath the man who had her pinned.

"Damnit kid, I didn't want to have to do that but...It's all over now."

He looked around them for a moment and found the rope that he had dropped during the fight and picked it up again. Kyra still laid motionless under him, her eyes close, lips parted, and she was breathing heavily from the exertion from the fight. The thief first tied her ankles together, and then rolled her over onto her stomach and tied her arms behind her back. "What a day, what a day.." he remarked as he picked her up and placed her back onto the bed. The young kelvic moaned softly as she started to come to, much to the thief's surprise.

"Shuss, it's over now. You just relax." He stood up from the bed and hurried to collect his backpack. A frown quickly rose upon his face as he realized it was useless and that he wouldn't be able to carry anything in it again. "Petchin kid.." Though thinking quickly, the man took off his shirt and wrapped as many of the items that he had dropped into his shirt and escaped the apartment as fast as he could.
