Koth Race: Jamoura Gender: Male Age: 283 Birthday: 58, Spring, 230 AV. Birthplace: The Spires
Appearance How do you even tell Jamoura apart? 8’ tall, 600 lbs. About 4’ wide across his shoulders. Black fur with silver hair around his arms and a wide silver line down his back. Thick muscles ripple down his frame, indicating the Jamoura’s immense strength. Does not wear clothes. Like other Jamoura, he may seem like a hulking beast from afar, but a deep intelligence can be seen shining in his brown eyes (if you’re brave enough to get that close).
Personality Koth is truly fascinated by all that is under Caiyha’s domain. His primary motivating factor is his drive to know more about the diversity of life that makes up Mizahar. He is most content when sitting in silence, observing the slow blooming of a flower, or the unique graces of wild animals as they hunt, play, or even sleep. However, along with his deep admiration for nature comes a strong disapproval shared with most Jamoura for any who would tarnish its purity. Koth is generally restless by Jamoura standards, though still making him exceptionally patient by any other, and his greatest weakness is his rage at the injustice and misunderstanding of those who cause undue harm to others, especially to Caiyha’s domain. While he is slow to anger, his wrath knows no bounds and no mercy. To Koth, the greatest sin is that of the strong unnecessarily preying on the weak and innocent. In nature, the strong may devour the weak for survival, but they do not trample of them for pleasure. That is one thing that Koth cannot forgive. It is his belief that Caiyha gave the Jamoura strength so that they could defend her domain and protect that which often cannot protect itself. To further this goal, he possesses a strong fondness for the martial arts. He believes that the body and the mind are connected, by strengthening one you also strengthen the other. He would often seek out other strong Jamoura, asking them to share their knowledge of combat and spar with him. It is through them that he has begun to learn how to defend all that he holds dear. Perhaps Koth’s most curious trait is his interest in the state of the Jamoura before the Valterrian. Many Jamoura are content to ignore or forget their previous bestial nature. Koth believes that their past should be embraced, not forgotten. If the Jamoura could rise above their nature, could not the other beasts as well? Perhaps if they understood the change that Caiyha wrought in them, they could effect this change in others.
History Growing up in his family group of about a dozen, Koth was always enraptured by the stories shared by his elders of the flora and fauna of Mizahar. From the Djed-tainted trees of Sahova to the deadly Tsanas of Eyktol, he was often thinking of these things rather than attending to his other lessons of mathematics and sciences. But to the Jamoura, just hearing his elders tell these stories had never been enough. He wanted more knowledge than his elders could share, and the experiences that they could not begin to describe. It is this desire that continually drove him to leave his home in the Spires for days at a time, wandering the Talderan forest in search of new plants and animals. He would often find a species of animal he had not seen before and camouflage himself against the forest, allowing him to observe the creature for hours at a time as it went about its daily life. He would also come across new plants and immediately taste a leaf or a stem, then wait as its effects washed over him. He stopped this practice after several serious illnesses, opting instead to bring the plants back to his elders for a much safer lesson in herbalism. Eventually the teachings of his elders ran dry. They knew much about Caiyha’s domain, but their knowledge was broad and shallow. Koth needed more to satisfy his lust for knowledge, and there was little left for him to learn in the Spires. This restlessness is what drove him from his home, sending him halfway around Mizahar to the port city of Zeltiva, where the University and its vast stores of knowledge awaited him… |
