Neoma Gerbera Appearance Race: Symenestra Gender: Female Age: 16 Birthday: 51st of Winter, 499 A.V Birthplace: Kalinor Appearance: Neoma (or Neo for short) has a standard look as Symenestra go. She is neither tall nor short at five foot two, and is neither fat nor skinny at 90 pounds. She lacks strong muscles, but is able to use her slightly lengthened arms to climb well. Her pale skin is almost white, showing light grey veins on the inside of her arms and the backs of her legs. Neoma has a tangle of thin, silver hair which frames her face in heavy waves. She usually keeps her hair short and close to her head so it won't get in her way. Her eyes, which are set deep into her head, are often cast into shadow. They may appear to glow if it is dark enough, but are usually a lighter purple color. Neoma loves to express herself through her appearance. She has her ears pierced and typically wears her feather earrings. She can be seen wearing small silver beads in her ears as well. A very simple key hangs around Neoma's neck at all times. This key goes to the chest in her home that hides all of her cosmetics and beauty supplies that she cherishes. There is rarely a day when Neo will go without makeup. Her typical routine is to apply heavy, dark accents to a pale base: dusting her cheeks with pink or red, painting her lips bright colors, and using dark kohl around her already light eyes. While they are not as long as some Symenestra's, but Neoma's nails are a still good length. They are thick and pitch black, deeply contrasting with her ashen skin. Her clothing too, reflects her personality. All made from tight silk, her favorite clothes are a deep blue, but she may also wear a lilac color to match her eyes on more formal occasions. Neoma prefers to go without shoes, but when she does wear them, it is a pair of small sandals made from silk to allow good climbing while worn. Character Concept Neoma is a very curious girl. As such, she has a hard time keeping her thoughts to herself. Any questions she has are asked and any comments she has are sure to be made. She wants to learn as much as she can, her favorite subject being other races. Part of the reason she is so eager to learn about the surface is that she wants to live there someday. She long dreamt of getting out into the world, leaving behind the damp, dark, hole in the ground for something better. This desire for knowledge is not to be confused with compassion though. The entire web looks down upon other races, viewing them as inferior- her especially. Living by herself, Neoma has come to be a responsible girl. Alone at a young age, Neo had to learn very quickly how to do things on her own and yet, she is still a young girl living with little to no guidelines. She has become rebellious and self-centered in her solidarity. It remains to be seen whether this is a mere phase or a life-long issue. With her curiousity and reponsibility, comes a third, less prominent trait. Despite her tenancy to say whatever is on her mind, Neoma can be very good at sweet-talking people. She isn't a very big fighter and prefers to fight a battle of wits rather than weapons. She wants to become a cosmetologist in her own shoppe, but has had no luck starting such a job yet. Character History Neoma was born and raised in Kalinor with her younger sister. Neo was born by an Inarta surrogate who was killled during childbirth. Life was good for awhile, their web was secure and dependable. The Inarta surrogate went so well that about two years later, they had a second child. This Inarta also died in childbirth, but the child was healthy and that's all they cared about. Neo's mother traveled back and forth from the surface, telling the children stories of her travels. Neoma absorbed the information like a sponge, eager for more information about this foreign land. All seemed well until one time, late in the Summer of 502 A.V., their mother never returned. There were stories of course. Some said she had found another lover on the surface. Some said she had been captured, others were sure she was dead. No one knew for sure, and if they did, no one told Neo. For a long time, their father was picture-perfect. He worked by day, making enough money to support the family but coming home at night to be with his little girls. But his work grew hard, he could not make enough to support both children on his own. Neoma willingly left, finding herself a new home and a life of her own to ensure her sister would be well cared for. As of Spring of 514 AV, Neoma found herself drawn to the surface, and left Kalinor entirely in favor of a new home, knowledge, and an escape from the thoughts of her past. Secretly, she hopes to find her mother one day, but Neo knows deep down that this is a pipe dream. When leaving Kalinor, she didn't exactly have a destination. She simply wandered, heading what she perceived as straight away. Neoma, with her acrobatic skills, would hide high in the trees at night, travelling only during the day. The trip was a long and dangerous one, and was not without encounters, however, climbing proved useful time and time again, and running through the trees came naturally to the Symenestra of the caves. After a season of travelling aimlessly, Neoma sighted the smoke coming from a cabin and encountered a Dhani named Ayszel. Ayszel offered to take Neoma to the Tunnels of Zinrah (and relative safety) in exchange for the use of Neo's cosmetic skills. The exchange was made, and Neoma now lives in Zinrah in the company of the Dhani.
