The day was still yet young, the golden light still filtering in through the dark, when Ragnor decided to explore beyond the grounds of the Sanctuary, away from so much life that haunted him with memories. In missing so much of what he'd lost, he'd awakened a unwanted desire, and worse yet, he remembered clearly how he had gave into the desire so long ago. He would not, could not break against such temptation again, and so he moved away from the place with all speed, determined to master his desire before he returned.
* * * * *
On and on he went, deep into the tall grasses of that so characterized this strange land outside of Riverfall. Over time he'd managed to get used to the sight of it, stretching as far as his eyes could wander, but still he couldn't help but to notice how different it was from his home city of Avanthal. How did one navigate after all in this vast, seemingly endless plane that lacked any such distinguishing landmarks. Sama'el seemed to find his way with ease around here, but he was of these grasses, and likely lived nearby the Sanctuary to Ragnor's own best guess.
A stirring in the grass next to him broke his concentration from his thoughts, and not even really thinking about it, he moved into the creature's path. The hare ran on haphazardly for a few more steps before Ragnor managed to assume complete control, simply content to let it sit still there for a moment while he gathered his thoughts.
What was he doing?
He'd come out here to get control over such desires, and in the moments of coming across another life form he'd submitted so easily. Worst of all was that he'd wanted it, wanted to feel such control over life, even though it came with none of the sensation. It troubled him deeply to find such desires in his heart, and even more so now that he felt like he was losing control over himself. What was to stop he from possessing a person next? What was to stop him from hurting someone again? Why hadn't he released control over this creature?
Because secretly he liked it
The truth of the notion stung him, shocking his reserved sensibilities so he did the only thing he knew what to do in such a moment. He pushed away the nagging thoughts that clouded his mind by instead focusing on controlling this creature whom's ungainly form would be more than enough of a challenge. Willing the creatures muscles to react to his present possession, his soulmist generated spastic movements from the creatures limbs as he worked through the process of seeing what moved which. He'd never possessed a four legged creature before, and having to account for balance after so long was more than troublesome, his 'movements' causing the hare to haphazardly crawl, doing more shaking than moving forward.
After several moments of this, he willed the creature to stop moving, more than a bit frustrated with himself, in part because he couldn't get the hare to move like he wanted, though largely because he was ashamed at his current indulgence, at his ignorance of reason. What would his wife think of his actions? What of his children, or Kavala for that matter?
Remembering them gave him strength, and with a concentrated effort of will, he released the creature to go about its own movements once more. He had a ways to go before he mastered this desire, he realized, and soberly he moved onwards deeper into the grasses, his determination fading into desperation as he struggled to retain whom he was. For he would never be safe to be around unless he came to terms with what he not so secretly wanted.
