The air in the meeting room was thick with the smell of exotic leather, giving Viridae the distinct feeling that he was home. He enjoyed visiting the Sickle and arrow at least twice a week to view the trophies of Kalinor's greatest hunts. As a boy, he dreamed of having some exotic animal stuffed and mounted in this room, just above the great stone hearth. He curled his toes as he ran his bare feet across the White stag rug that lay on the floor beneath the table. Something about this place gave him a very nostalgic feeling, knowing that his father, and grandfather, and perhaps even his great grandfather very likely sat in this same spot, dreaming of the future, of fame, glory, and the thrill of the hunt, and that his children would someday be here, young and full of wishful ambition. He turned his gaze upwards and marveled at the many exotic raptors that seemed to leap from the ceiling, some bright and colorful, some slate and menacing, all beautiful and vicious, claws stretch towards him, poised to make a kill. In a way, they were not so different from him. Ever scanning the mountain sides, awaiting the next thrilling kill. Viri slouched back in his chair, sinking further into his seat. He closed his eyes and envisioned what his father and brother must be experiencing. Hunkered down in some foreign land, Tall fields of thick yellow grass, hunting Giant cheetah and massive rock bison. The sounds of low chatter filled his ears like a siren song, stern voices regarding each other excitedly, sharing the experiences of lifetimes of prowling Kalea in search of fame, glory, pelts, and food. He let his thoughts lull him into a quiet dreamlike state of mind, and before long, he had dozed off, snoring quietly, comfortable in this place he could easily call his second home.

He woke suddenly to a hushed argument between two Symenestra as they glided gracefully down the silken rope dangling in the center of the room. He squinted to ward away the blur of sleep from his eyes. The boy reminded him of himself in his youth, Sharing similar deep purple eyes, but he had dark raven colored hair. Viridae sat up and peered at the two empty seats across from him. On one hand, he hadn't had social interaction with an adolescent of their race in too long of a time for his mind to process. On the other hand, He wasn't confident enough in his social skills to qualm an argument between him and the other Symenestra, who appeared to be his mother. At any rate, he sat up and tried his best to look as if he were welcoming company at his table, smiling politely and folding his long arms across its surface. Perhaps they were in search of a mentor for the boy. And seeing as though he had no children of his own, Viri welcomed the thought of sharing his experiences.

What the Furure Holds (Veruzi)

Postby Veruzi Asteraceae on August 15th, 2013, 5:24 am

"But Mabdashae," the young Symenestra began to plead, his silken voice holding a slight whining time. To his utmost displeasure he was unable to finish as he let go of the silk with a small cry of shock and fear as he ducked a rather ferocious looking winged creature about to attack him. His reaction was quick for such a young one as his feet hit the fur flooring he quickly tucked into a roll simultaneously drawing his lash before coming about and turning to face the winged menace. An almost instant wave of embarrassment washed over him as he realized the beast was stationary, with a quick glance around his embarrassment mounted as he realized nearly every eye was on him before a burst of roaring laughter did nothing to abate his unease.

With no more acknowledgemrnt of his actions than a gentle chuckle Marashae placed a soothing hand, still as smooth as the silk they have weaved for nearly 70 years though perhaps showing a few more grey veins than her fairer years, on the boys shoulder, clad in a deep amethyst shawl matching his eyes. "Now, now Veruzi, we've been through this countless times. I won't be here forever and I'm not getting any younger. You'll have to find a way to take care of yourself. The elder Symenestra paused for a brief moment before noticing a lone hunter alone at a table almost directly behind her son, faintly recognizing his face she turned Veruzi to face him as she muttered under her breath, "Not to mention a productive way to focus that energy. "

Ignoring the comment in his ear, Veruzi's amethyst eyes locked onto those of the hunter sitting at the table, not far off from the color of his own. A few moments passed, his gaze lingering, as he tried to place the man's face. Suddenly his signature half grin returned, revealing a single gleaming fang. Without warning he convered the space between them in a couple short bounds, leaping as he came within a few feet. His bear foottrested for a split second on the back of the chair before he plopped down with a weird sort of grace for such a childish act. Placing his chin in his palm as his fingers and claws rested against his left cheek and the scars residing there, in a mock pose of inner thought. His overeagerness to please getting the best of him, the questions began to pour out. "You're Viridae, right? You're a hunter, huh? So you've been to the surface? Scary huh? Has anything ever tried to eat you? Did you kill it? With every question he inched just a little closer coming to rest just over a foot face to face.

Viri's inquisitive and inviting look lit up with amusement as the Enda entered, making his Azure eyes much more kind. He sat up and watched as the boy regaurded his Mabda, and sat still as the young man took a seat.

He smirked, the corner of his mouth flickering upwards to reveal a large fang, poking at his lower lip, as he regarded the young Symenestra. He leaned back in his chair, so as to create a bit of space and spoke, his voice deep, and his words leaving a lingering air of mystery. "You're just full of energy, aren't you Enda?" He Looked to Marashea, amusement spread wide across his face, then back to Veruzi. "Yes, I am Viridea Kabre, and yes I am a hunter. I've made many trips to the surface, and things have tried to eat me, but I fancy myself a bit too proud to allow them the satisfaction. And you are?" He raised his brow curiously and gracefully folded his hands beneath his chin. This Enda was so full of curiosity that it brought hope to his heart.

Veruzi's eyes squinted to quizzical slits, pondering whether the hunters reference to him as "Enda" was a just or a misunderstanding. He dismissed the matter altogether before hopping to his bare feet. Ignoring the question of his identity, Veruzi began a mock march down the table, his smooth voice holding an air of impersonated command. "So! You, sir, are a Hunter and thus travel to the surface to track and kill terrific and terrible beasts, such as that raptor that attempted to tear my head off. And! My dearest Mabda brought me here to find my 'calling'. Which means! That you! With this last word Veruzi jumped from the end of the table, a clawed finger coming to rest pointing at his gaurdian. His smirk becoming a grin threatening to display both fangs "Mabdashae, brought me to this wonderful place to convince me to do the very thing you forbade me to so many years ago!

Veruzi Asteraceae! By Viritas, show some respect! Now, sit down and tell the man your name! The old womans voice remained smooth while retaining an unmistakable sternness quickly changed the boys demeanor.

His smile faded slightly as he made his way around the table. An inaudible murmer earned him a sharp slap behind the ear. He let out a long sigh, upset that his rant had been cut short, as he sat down running the sharp pain on the back of his head. Letting his gaze wonder to the various trophies behind the man he finally answered his question, sounding bored.
"My name is Veruzi Asteraceae, pleasure is all mine.

What the Furure Holds (Veruzi)

Viridae leaned forward and regarded the Versda with stern eyes, scanning his young complexion. The young man had a deep burning passion within himself, and obvious sign he was near reaching maturity, yearning for adventure, excitement, and to make his mark on this world. From what he could gather, it wouldn't be long before Veruzi found his calling. And he entertained the thought That The Versda just needed to experience the world a little.

He turned his head to Mabdashea, smiling politely. "Hunting is not nearly as dangerous as it has been out to be. Most novice hunters begin by trapping or shooting small game, then work their way up to larger animals. I happen to be an exotic game hunter, though this was my choice. Most hunts carried out by novice hunters are not done alone. More experienced trackers or survivalists accompany young men so as to pass down their skills and protect the young men."

His polite smile snapped back to a calm but stern gaze as he turned back to address Veruzi. "So you're in the market for an adventure, it seems?" His face lightened again as he half smirked and sat back into his chair, taping his claws on the table patiently.

Marashae nodded her head towards the hunter, a slightly lackluster strand of silvery hair falling across her eye. She brushed it back with an exceptionally well kept claw before responding to the hunters words, "Your words are appreciated but I need no assurances of the danger level. I learned not to worry about my sweet Bitta ages ago. A small chuckle escaped her as Veruzi scoffed at her reference to him before continuing, "Though you're spot on about the sense of adventure."

Shuffling restlessly, Veruzi turned his attention back to Marashae, a slight wave of embarrassment washing over him.
"Mabdashae, if you want me to do this, just let me do it. I'm not a bitta anymore! She smiled lovingly, ruffling his raven hair before turning and heading out of the room. Once she was safely out of sight he promptly reclaimed his position on the table, locking his eyes back onto Viridae's, leaning forward eagerly. "Ahhh, alone at last. So what's the plan?

The hunter gave a polite smile as he looked the boy over. "Plan? So you'd like to give the art a try? I'm actually about to leave to check my snares and track a stag. If you'd like, you could tag along, see how you like it. No commitment, and a free trip to the surface?" He leaned back and propped his feet on the table, peering at Veruzi through his unbraided silver bangs. If the boy enjoyed the hunt, Viridae could very well end up with an apprentice. "So what do you say, Ziversda?"

What the Furure Holds (Veruzi)

Veruzi shuffled nervously, turning his gaze to the trophy clad ceiling yet seeing beyond. Remembering his disastrous trip to the surface a decade ago he knew the Hunter must've noticed his unease as he spoke still looking upward, this time his voice was much calmer and serious the flamboyant tone all but gone. "The surface and I don't, er, well we haven't got along in the past. However, " his eyes returned to Viri's this time a spark behind them, a deep burning passion to prove himself and find his place. "Mabdashae is right, I can't spend my life running wild and being afraid. I want to make her proud, I'm all she has and she's all I have." A short pause insued as a sort of dawning realization seemed to settle over him. He had always loved Marashae but had never truly thought of how deep that love was and how much she truly meant to him. When he next spoke his smooth voice held a slight tremble and the telltale glint of tears teased the edge of his eyes. "We're doing this! For myself but more importantly Mabdashae! If a Hunter is what I'm meant to be then I will fill this place with trophies myself! Let's do this!"

With that he stood, quickly wrong the threatening moisture from his eyes hoping it wasn't noticed. Leaping from the table before landing gracefully a few feet away. Suddenly he felt taller, bigger, stronger, faster. He was filled with a new sense of pride and purpose, he would conquer his fear and make his Mabda and his people truly proud.

What the Furure Holds (Veruzi)

Postby Viridae Kabre on August 19th, 2013, 5:42 am

Viridae grunted and rose slowly, yet still gracefully to his feet, before leaning his head to the left and cracking his neck. He sensed that something had awakened in Veruzi that he had never seen before, and suddenly, Viri longed for that feeling. He had know from the time he was small what he would end up doing in adult hood and what sort of life he would lead, and now that he had achieved everything he had ever aspired for, he felt empty. Empty, and yet still somehow quite comfortable. He had never wanted to do anything in life other than hunt.

He turned his head to Marashae and spoke in a low tone, regarding her solemnly. "We should only be out a couple bells, if that's alright with you," He said giving her a slight wink as he swept his bangs to the side and began to braid them against his head. The morning was drawing to a close, and Viridae sensed he had a long afternoon ahead of him. "Come," He grunted to Veruzi, as he walked to the silken cord and placed a hand on it, preparing to climb. "Meet me at the tunel exit to the left of this building in twenty minutes," He said, as he began to climb.

What the Furure Holds (Veruzi)

Postby Veruzi Asteraceae on August 20th, 2013, 11:51 pm

Veruzi's half grin was painted across his face, giving him an almost maniacal look contrasted against his scars. A slight glint in his eyes showed the deep pride burning within him as well as the yearning to find his true calling. Mabdashae would finally be proud to call him son.

Drawing his lash he ran clawed fingertips along the silken stands, ensuring there were no faults before inspecting the customized hooked end. He spent a short moment reminiscing the day his mother had made it for him before lifting his head to Viri, the burning pride within his eyes a little brighter.
"After you, fearless leader!" The young Symenestra's cocky attitude on display with an over dramatic salute. "Oh and, er, I don't need anything, I'll wait for you by the entrance." There was a sort of shiftyness to his tone though he still held the mock salute, waiting to follow the hunter up and out.
