Sei was on fire. His heart was racing, beating, thumping. His paws were pounding the ground beneath them. His eyes were fixed, and his ears tuned. He ran down the woods, the blur of bronze and gold passed all around him. He could feel his heart, and taste the air as he took it in like food. He gulped down the air and paced his breathing. He sprinted, going full speed, as his legs took him past his limits.
Sei growled, the frightened deer ran faster, encouraged by the growl that had escaped his jaws. He was closing the distance between him and his prey. The deer cried painfully as he leaped on to it. He had aimed for the neck, but the deer wouldn't let him win, and twisted so his teeth sunk deep into it's upper back. It arched in pain, and bucked harshly, knocking him to the ground, but not without kicking him in the side first.
Sei groaned as the deer took off. He'd been running all day, and his vision was so hazy he had to squint. His heart was beating so hard he echoed in his ears. He got to his feet and went after the deer. His first catch had escaped, and now he was on his second. He paced himself, running a little slower, knowing the deer would eventually start to slow as well, and he could easily track the heavy trail of blood that it's wound had left behind. He jogged, sniffing the air with every change in direction he took.
Sei groaned, the deer had veered right when he had gone left. He retraced his steps, following the blood train until a figure came into veiw. He ran at full speed, and ignored his blurred vision as he clawed at the deer blindly. From the painful cry, he determined he'd hit it, and opened his eyes. He had slashed the skin of the right ind leg, and he jumped for the deer once more. He dug his claws in and grabbed the deers' neck with his teeth.
The deer cried in pain, and after a while went completely limp. He dropped the deer as it's blood soaked his fur and teeth, filling the air with it's metallic smell. It had been another hard days work.
