[Bronze Wood-Aylasa Caves] The Hunt (Yng, Loo, Arm)

Postby Ventus on July 19th, 2010, 6:00 pm

Day 67 of Summer, 510

Ventus arrived at the edge of the Bronze Wood, where the mountain started upward. The hunt would begin soon, and he did not know how long they would be here so he was on his horse with Yngvie somewhere behind him. He had a saddle on his horse with many supplies, including a tent which would be used soon. It was nearing night, and hunting out here was dangerous. He heard that there were caves around, and there was a path that lead to them. That would likely be where he would set up his tent. He looked around a bit and took out his bow, prepared to shoot at any moment. "Let's go," he said slowly as the horse started to walk forward.

[Bronze Wood-Aylasa Caves] The Hunt (Yngvie)

As the horse with Ventus on it moved through the woods, a dark shadow moved behind him. He had no idea why he had decided to follow the Inarta into the forest. He very well could kill him at any moment, considering that there was pretty much no one else around. But of course he could defend himself very well with his scythe, and he could probably draw a simple circle very quickly if he needed to. But for now, he would simply follow the Inarta around and help him hunt. "Tell me, Ventus, what is it that we are hunting anyway? It would definitely help us if we knew what we where looking for." He said as the horse Ventus was on started to walk forward again.

"Something that looks edible," Ventus mumbled, realizing how good of a question Yngvie asked. He didn't even know what was out here. Back at Wind Reach, he just hunted random animals on the mountain that seemed edible, and it was usually the same on the way to Syliras. He knew that there were probably deer, or something like it, but he also knew that this place wasn't exactly the safest place. "The first thing we will do is get to the caves about a mile from here where we will set up camp," he replied to Yngvie. The horse kept moving slowly, slow enough to watch for something that could kill them, or something they could eat. When the night fell, it would just be rations that he picked up in case they didn't find anything.

"Of course! What a splendid idea. That is why I follow you! You have good ideas!" Yngvie skipped merrily alongside Ventus's horse as it sped up. He was glad that the small pack that he kept his rations, crafting kit, and ink for summoning circles was at his pocket as always. Although he had spent the past few years in it, Yngvie was not overly fond of the wilderness. His scythe on his back also gave him a bit of reassurance. Although he had never really received any training on how to use it, he had drew blood with it enough times to know how to effectively wield it. He also could draw a summoning circle fast enough for it to be considered among his defenses. Of course, an effective circle would take a bit more care.

"We are getting very close," Ventus mumbled, starting to get very worried. Shadows moved throughout the forest, and whether or not they were dangerous, no one could know. His survival skills weren't exactly top-notch either. The caves were indeed getting very close, as they could see the opening from their view, though only a slight part. The trees covering it would be interesting to get through, though they offered good protection. "Uh... How do we get this horse in?" he thought out loud as they neared the trees. He went closer, pulling branches up, getting hit, and hitting the horse with them. The horse neighed and Ventus kept shouting ouch. It was truly a comedic scene.

As Ventus pushed his way through the trees, struggling to convince his horse to follow him, Yngvie pulled his scythe out and cut the majority of the branches blocking his path, making the whole process much simpler. "You should be more imaginative! It makes things a lot more interesting.", Yngvie called over the sounds of Ventus's exclamations and those of his horse. Ahead he could see the entrance to the cave. From his view, it looked relatively small, but an ideal place for setting up camp.

As Ventus neared the cave, with his horse, he realized how wrong he was when he thought it was uninhabited. In fact, on that day, a bear was asleep in the cave, and that was definitely not the greatest place to sleep in. His horse slowly backed away as the bear started to grumble and pick itself up a little. Making a very bad mistake, Ventus shot an arrow at the bear, hoping to lodge it in between the eyes, but he missed. Very bad. The arrow hit it in the side, enraging it. The horse turned where it could and leaped out of the brush landing beside Yngvie, almost bucking Ventus off. He shot another arrow through the brush, not caring to retrieve any of them, not knowing where it hit. It did hit the bear on it's back leg, making it stumble before it left the brush. "Run!" Ventus yelled at Yngvie as he fired another arrow, missing entirely.

In another part of the forest

Lookos was on his way back to camp, and was mulling over the days accomplishments. It takes someone with talent to have a day THIS bad... he thought
He had broken his fishing pole, lost two game traps, and he had been trailing a herd of deer all day with no luck! The day had not gone his way.

As he was angrily stomping along the path his favorite dog Duma trotted alongside him subdued for once by his masters foul mood.

Ventus had no idea as to where Yngvie was, and he did not know if he escaped, but felt that he was now safe. As they said, you only had to be faster than your companion to survive a bear attack. He started to heave deeply as his horse slowed down to a small cut out breath. He laughed a bit, already having lost any worry about Yngvie and if was dead or not. The path was slightly curved but it seemed to end soon. The blood red haired human jumped off his horse and started leading it down the trail. A little exercise off the horse would be good after the long journey to Syliras. Ahead, he thought he could make out some sort of a camp, but he wasn't sure. Then, he started to hear slight noises from behind.
