Hiwalani needed a weapon of some kind. He had nothing in this city and was debating whether or not he should stay in Silviras at all. He went looking for the weapons establishment and got lost on the way their. Finally, he found it. "Hello?" He said, sticking his head into the entrance of the store. "I'm looking for, uh... A weapon." The thing that was running through his head was the fact that he had no idea how to use weapons of any kind.
"Oh!" he was startled by the other person in the store, "Sorry!" He laughed. His mind wasn't exactly alert for the week. He tried to lighten his mood by smiling to the stranger he almost ran in to.

Customers were not rare, nor were they common, yet for all that he had a female smith working for him, women were not common, not common at all. He paused in his work, but gave her not more than a glance, but a glance was normally enough to make a judgement as to how much a customer could afford, or if they were wasting his time.

This one though would normally have fallen into the latter category for custom weapons were never cheap. Still, it wouldn't be the first time that a servant had been sent on an errand so politeness was never wasted, at least not for the first moments.

"A request?" He looked at her pointedly. "Tell me more." There were limits to politeness after all, especially to a human.

And from a paucity of customers to a glut. He nodded at the human but waited for Tallan to respond since she had spoken first.

She looks at the smiling man. She gives a slight groan. Her attention returns to the owner. She met the eyes of the owner, she was determined. She motions to the weapons around the shop.

"I want to learn to make weapons like this, I already have experience working with metal." She says.

She is a woman of few words, it was easy to work that out. She makes her point as short and sweet as possible. She doesn't feel the need to give long winded speeches.

Hiwalani got more than an impression of what she was trying to communicate. Some people just don't like to talk much, He thought to himself, Oh well, what more can one do than say hello to a stranger who doesn't like to speak. He tried to get his mind off it, but almost nothing bothered him more than a failed conversation. Still, the best he could do was wait politely until the owner and the woman finished their conversation. He signaled to the shop-keeper that he was going to look at the wares.
What kind of weapon will these hands bond with? He looked at the works on the shelves and tried to imagine a future with each one.

Now, now she had his attention and his eyes narrowed as he saw her properly for the very first time. He said nothing for a moment and instead ran his eyes up and down her form. For her face he considered little; she was human and it didn't even occur to him to pass judgement on how her own race might judge her looks. Of far more interest to him was in her muscles and bone structure, especially what signs there were of her claimed skill at working metal.

"Well now," he said, "that is interesting." Anyone with the right skills could become a weaponsmith if they had the right skills, yet only a fool would think that all weaponsmiths were alike in their abilities.

"If you have the ability and the resolve then I am interested. Equally, I am not interested in a woman who thinks that she has to be better than any man. The same applies by the way to any man who might walk into my shop. If you become a Master then you will be able to do some things better than me, but there will be things that you will never be able to match me at."

"In this shop we specialise in custom weapons and in the customisation of weapons that are not properly suited to their owners. What we do is expensive and with expense comes an expectation of excellence. If you want to hammer out fifty identical daggers then the Ironworks will be more suited to you."

He paused, for he had made no mention of djed manipulation. "Are you prepared to meet those standards? Do you share the fear of Djed workers?" He watched for her reaction for a moment before continuing. "Are you ready to show me your skills?" He held up his hand.

"But first, we have a customer, so while you consider your answer, your first test is to help me here."

He gave a short bow to Hiwalani. "I thank you sir for your patience." He waited until he had his attention. "What sort of weapon did you have in mind?" He gestured at the wall where various weapons were displayed. None were for made for sale, but there was a fair sample of different sorts.

"Were you thinking of a blade? Short, medium, long? Stabbing or cutting? Single handed, dual wield or two handed? Pole or perhaps distance? Or something else, something that will turn the eye?" He arched an eyebrow to see what the man had in mind.

None of his words broke her determined mindset. She keeps her head high, and her gaze to his. She thought of the sword her father made for her. Simple but light. It was like many others, she didn't want to do that monotonous work. And Djed, she didn't fear it the mention of it didn't cause her to back away or flinch. She was ready for anything.

Then he goes to help the customer. She turns to look at him. From what she could tell, he didn't look like someone who could wield a large hammer. And didn't seem the type who would need a bow. She looked him over more, she was good at observing others. Not great but you didn't need much in her opinion. With the way he held himself and dressed himself, she could tell he was one who could use his looks to close in on people.

"Dagger." She says, slightly louder than her normal speaking voice. Her finger stretching toward one of the daggers.

Hiwalani respectfully bowed in return to the Weaponsmith. He took note of the woman's word and debated it in his mind. "Ahhh, actually-" He stated, "-I would have needed a dagger, if I knew whether or not I was staying in the relative safety of the city." His recently deceased mother floated across his mind. "I'm in a rather unique position right now, and if I can't support myself, I'll have to leave the city with a companion who has knowledge of the outside world." The thought of leaving Syliras brought forth a deep fear from within him. His father died from things outside Stormhold when Hiwalani was only four. "I was hoping that I might meet a weapon that will make my safety a little more defendable. Perhaps a spear of some sort? Or by your expertise, would a dagger be more advisable?"

He was pleased by the suggestion for it meant that she was thinking, yet amused that she might attempt to judge what a stranger might want. In the event it seemed that she was wrong.

"A dagger would indeed be a good choice in the city and worthwhile even to one who has no training, but I would not have recommended it. The dagger is a single purpose weapon and it's design makes it primary the weapon of an assassin who kills by stealth."

"The spear is good for keeping opponents at a distance and can double as a staff, both for walking and fighting. In addition it keeps animals at bay as well as people. So for a traveller it has much to recommend it. But if you are travelling then a good knife has much to say and can be used to fashion a sharp stick to double as a spear."

He smiled, "the choice is yours, I make, I cannot recommend to a stranger about whom I know but little."

Her jaw clenched slightly. She should have waited for details. She rubs her middle finger and thumb tips together just in front of her lips. A gesture of thought. Then the introvert, who would rather listen and observe others does something odd for her nature, she starts a speech. Either out of her fascination with the weapons, or wanting to prove something, was up for debate. Perhaps it was both.

"I should have waited for more details, but if he were staying in the city I would still stand by my suggestion. While I agree that a dagger has one purpose; I believe it is more simple than that. The purpose of a dagger is to kill, not just in an assassin's hand." She says, as a smoker she has to pause for a ragged breath. "I suggested it because I assumed he would be in the city. I doubted he was out looking to join the ranks of the knights, or do something that would require brandishing a weapon. No offense meant of course. And if he is threatened, he could let them get close and fend off an attacker"

She steps towards the man her eyes scanning him. She was thinking again. Her finger tips rubbing together. She continued.

"But he's planning on leaving the city, he'll need protection from something other than the sparse ruffian that escapes the eyes of the knights." She speaks directly to the customer. "I suggest something that will keep your body away from creatures who wish to disassemble it, if you are planning on staying here for a time perhaps you can find someone to teach you how to wield a bow. If not, then I agree with the owner. A good knife can make a spear, more if needed."

Her throat was sore because she barely spoke that much. She gave a grimace to no one in particular. She needed to find some water soon.

Hiwalani took in what he heard, nodded, and pursed his lip, something he did when he was in deep thought. His request became a very complex web of thoughts in an attempt to anticipate the future. He wasn't sure if he was going to stay in Syliras, or if he were to leave what kind of weapon would best suit him. His eyes noticed Tallens thirst and it upset him that he had nothing to offer. Too much was going on in his head for him to organize it all.
"I will need time to clear my head." He glanced at the woman, troubled by her need for water, he almost seemed more concerned about that than the fact he didn't know what kind of weapon he wanted. "I will return once I have decided, I'm sorry to bother you without producing a result for the trouble." He smiled and tipped his head towards the woman, then to the shopkeeper.
