Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

1st of Fall, 513AV

As she slowly approached the Nykan Gates, her heart pounded loudly in anticipation of the possibilities of new beginnings. The only possessions she had were the clothes she wore and her heirloom and what she could fit in her backpack. The guards eyed her as she came closer. She had heard rumors of their fierceness, but it did not scare her.

The guard wielding the halberd approached her. She stood confidently and waited for him to speak.

"What is your purpose here little one?" The guards chuckled at the first guards tease.

"I am here, to find a better purpose than the one in my homeland"

The guards glared suspiciously but did nothing as she continued her way through the gates.

1st of Fall 513 av
Assilsa stumbled and collapsed in front of the gates for Nyka, the walls that surrounded the city were a pale red colour as were the rooves Assilsa had noticed as she approached. Her normally flawless skin was covered in bruises both new and old, of all colours. Along with the bruises Assilsa had also gain multiple cuts along her chest and face, some from the animals and some from the natural dangers.
Attempting to push herself up with her still broken wrist, Assilsa wondered how bad she must look, covered in mud, torn clothes, broken bones with skin the colour of the sky. Whimpering as the weight was put on the bone Assilsa managed to sway to her feet to be face to face with a guard.
“Eh… Hello sir”
Even with voice raspy from disuse Assilsa attempted to sound confident, reaching up absently Assilsa patted down her knotted, twig filled hair.
“What is your Business here Widow?”
Blinking in confusion Assilsa fumbled for an answer, She hadn’t been called a widow in years, looking the Guard up and down, she noted that he looked similar to a man of Nyka’s god.
“I um… I came to Nyka for sanctuary, I came from Ravok”
His eyes Studied Assilsa’s appearance which was, she had to admit, pretty ghastly, she did currently look like a wild woman of the woods, coming into town to eat children…
“Sanctuary?!” The guard let out a stout laugh, “For your kind, the Only Sanctuary is the hole you crawled out of”
“Please sir! I only wish to stay during the fall! Then I’ll be on my way!”
Assilsa had been feeling the call of home more and more each day, the incident with the slavers had been the last straw that would send her back crawling towards Kalinor.
“You look like a troublemaker”
The guard noted tipping his burly chin.
“Im not sir! I won’t cause no trouble!”
Assilsa would have smiled except she knew that would expose her fangs so she just silently pleaded toward the guards. The guard just nodded reluctantly and stepped out of her way. Assilsa’s eyes widened as the gates opened to her new town as she took her first stumbling steps into Nyka.

2nd of Fall, 513AV

Kallos walked beside one of the horse drawn wagons, owned by the small group of traders he had been traveling with for the last two cities on their route. He was all smiles as he carried on with idle chatter with them. This would probably be the last time he'd see them this year, at least.

His two chests were on the wagon, so all the guards saw on him was his leather armor and his backpack. He carried no weapon, so they must have thought he was a trader instead of an escort, and let him pass without sharing words.

Once they entered, Kallos would part with his traveling companions, carrying his chests and looking for an inn.
"Its one thing to idolize heros. Its quite another to visualize yourself in their place. When I saw great people, I said to myself 'I can be there.'."

Season of Fall, Day 2, 513 AV

Lorick Trahern walked beside the mule-drawn carts that rumbled and creaked as the little group headed for Nyka. It had been a long journey, and much of his Miza had been expended simply getting here. Even selling his parents' estate did not gain him as much coin as he'd hoped, and he'd wasted the rest. A shame.

Lorick smiled, a broad, happy smile that was completely fake. He didn't feel happy, but then people tended to ignore you if you are a grinning idiot, and Lorick did not need attention.

Nyka did not have people whispering in the streets about "Lorick the Liar". So much the better. Hunting would be good today.

4th Day, Season of Fall, 513 AV

Yvaine sighed as she stared upwards at the gates leading into Nyka. Her father had just left her here, and after much debate she decided it would be easier to enter the city as a human than that of a large cat of all things. People scrambled in and out of the gates like mice and Yvaine couldn’t help but grin. The trouble she could get into in a city like this seemed limitless. Sounded like fun honestly.

Nodding to a guard as she entered the city, she realized belatedly that this could take a few days to track down her mother. She had absolutely no idea where she was. Just a name… well that was better than nothing. Hiking her backpack further up her shoulder, Yvaine picked a random direction and set off.

Fall 44th, 513 A.V.

Ireth watched as the rest of the caravan trudge into Nyka through the rain. It poured down in sheets, like a fountain. Her thick black cloak kept her relatively dry, and she wore it over her backpack and rucksack, so her belongings weren't getting soggy. She had no clue or memory of where her aunt lived. But that would have to wait. She needed to find an inn, some sort of shelter, for the night. The gate guards didn't pay her any heed, for which she was thankful.

It was almost like she could feel the lack of her Lord in this gentile place. These people, they worshiped false gods, gods without love or life. She shivered, a drop of rain running down her neck until she wiped it away. Rhysol, though she knew He loved her, was probably angry with her for leaving His city. And she missed her Ravok.

But the time had come. She needed to come to see this aunt Lorytia, sister to her father Zhidynach Telemnar. Ireth had met the woman twice before, both on excursions to Nyka with her father and her brothers. Lorytia had never married, though had one son out of wedlock. Another Telemnar boy, though Ireth's cousin was a half-blood: his father'd been a Drykas. And since Zhidynach had died, Ireth had felt the pull to come and be with this aunt.

A yawn forced its way out of Ireth's lips and she forced her feet into motion again. Into a city not my own, an adventure in a stranger's world...

Postby Sekai on September 15th, 2013, 8:57 pm

1st of Fall, 513AV

Running through the Fates, Sekai slowed down, before stopping. Panting, with her hands on her knees, Sekai almost felt like lying on the ground right then and there, and sleep for an eternity. Breathing heavily, she looked back over her shoulders. It seemed that whatever creature was chasing her, had decided to not follow her into the gates. Sighing heavily in relief, she looked around, before realizing she had absolutely no idea which city this was.

Organizing her thoughts, she made her plans calmly. I am in a new city, which would mean I require sustenance. To obtain such, I require the necessary income. A job gives steady income, which means I need to locate an employment office of the sorts..., she thought, the order of events required finalizing within her mind. Looking around, she decide to wander about, looking for the employment office.

[Nyka Location] The Gates

Postby Kalina on September 22nd, 2013, 2:30 pm

40th of Fall, 513AV

There was no doubt about it, Kalina was bored of travelling. After in entire season of travelling, her Master, his associates and his slave had finally arrived in civilisation once more.

It wasn't until the moment of walking through the gates that it finally dawned on the young Kelvic slave that she would not be returning to the lake-based city of Ravok for a good long while. Whilst she despised the sheer amount of water that surrounded the city, and feared what might happen should she ever lose her footing and tumble into the calm waters, it was all she had known. In all actuality, having spent the best part of three seasons growing up in the Kelvic Research Institute, Kalina had only spent about thirty or so days living in the city proper before they packed up their things and began their long travel to this new city. She had spent triple that time living in the Wildlands.. so that would be more appropriate to be called her home, she thought vaguely.

The first thing to note about the ocelot was that she had grown, almost to full size, not that anyone in this new place would notice the change, having never seen her before. It had not taken much thought for Kalina to make the decision to remain in ocelot form when entering the city; she hadn't realised how close they were until they were almost inside, and the flighty creature was far too nervous to change in a place she knew nothing about. Her grey and golden-flecked, spotted body constantly brushed against the leg of her owner as they headed though the gates, grateful for the reassurance that he would keep her safe.

1st Of Fall 513 AV

Her eyes were like sparkling pools of cerulean blue, and they had haphazardly upon a scrum-diddly-umptious little morsel. Oh hello dear friend she thought as she held the varmint tightly though with what would appear aristocratic poise. A smug smile as if she was in the midst of a fond memory. Down the hatch it went, shed mastered this not so unhingable jaw thing.

It's head resting on her molars before her teeth came down

A snappling crackling kind of crunchy munchy, it was a twisted feeling and a bizarre flavor blossomed in her mouth. It had the satisfying crackle of bone, the succulent gooey brain center followed by the pop of eyes that added a certain burst of flavor. Hoozah, had there ever been a more satisfying snack? She pulled on the body to rip the meat and tendons still attached to the head off.

About to just greedily snorkel the rest in, she felt a hand tap her back.

She turned rat stuffed in her mouth to greet the guard, her doe eyes seemed to look at him sheepishly as the rat hung limply. She nibbled a little, and the guard looked at her some more, and she continued to nibble.

Ehhh
Is everything ok?

She bit down hard ripping the carcass in half and began chewing much to the horror or disgust of the guard.

Yes, everything is ok
You see I'm a cat, and well this little treat happened to scamper by me.
And me being kitty, had very little choice in the matter

She did a mock swipe kitty gesture in the airbthat the guard rolled his eyes to before she wiped well smeared the blood off her face sort of.

I'm so sorry for being rude my mouth was full and you well caught me at a disadvantage
But here you can have the rest I didn't mean to be greedy.

- N... No... T th that's ......-

What was left of the rat was spilling its gizzards on the floor, as she plopped it into his hand and gently closed it.

It's ok you can keep this

And with that she continued onward, she could hear him in the distance she could only make out two words.

Petching

Fall 42nd 513 AV; 14th Bell

So chilly did the air feel as he approached the gates of the colossal walls that shelled the city, Nyka waited on the other side for him with potential opportunities he longed for as he trekked forward to the western entrance. His feet were sore and covered in mud no thanks to the rains the caravan endeavored along the path taken to reach this city, but the grandiose site before him proved to be worth it in its beautiful architecture seen just barely beyond the grand walls. Thank the Gods that resided out there he no longer had to endure the weather in the wilds, as Toan grew rather paranoid when he walked in its vastness, now of course he only needed to settle in with the dampness that settled over the city and start fresh.

He pulled his hood back to allow the moisture settle into his skin as the air brought chills, the grime and dirt on his boots a disturbing issue in his mind as he approached the entrance. Before him stood a rather interesting fellow well dressed with two very sharp looking weapons, interest in Toan's expression came present as he took in the color patterns that decorated the outfit this guard wore. "State your business." He declared in a tone of high authority.

"Interesting fellow isn't he?" He mused with a chuckle, a faint grin on appeared on his face before he answered. "I come from Ravok in hopes to start over, Nyka seems the best place to do so since it's close." He told the guard not knowing he was a monk, he practically knew little of Nyka in his condition; yet that would change in due time.

The guard muttered few words to himself just below Toan's ability to hear, but seemed well enough convinced to let him pass into the city. With the given word to enter Toan nodded in appreciation as he eagerly entered in search of two things, a place to find employment and hopefully afterwards a nice warm bath.
