Location Sitai's Scents

[Jed Sitai]

Across from Gold Beach on the East Bank stands a store of elegant appearance. Marking its purpose is a hanging sign with the words "Sitai's Scents" written in beautiful calligraphy, with black ink on white enclosed in a black filigree frame. In the display windows, bottles of colourful liquid are lined up, though none of them are perfumes but are merely for show. Occasionally, other products or fresh flower petals will be added to the display, with the items being rotated on a seasonal basis. However, one can not see into the store through the glass for a wood panel blocks one's view. Adjacent is a polished, pale wooden door that swings to hit a quiet chime, and leads to walls of warm white and floors of pale wood. Along the walls are ivory painted shelves installed at the perfect height for most customers to reach the products sitting atop. Customers are allowed to open the corked glass bottles for a sniff, but testing the perfume on themselves is prohibited. All the windows have thick, white velvet curtains shielding the interiour from the sun, for direct light degrades the quality of perfumes. Fortunately visibility is not sacrificed due to the light colour scheme and plentiful lighting by oil lamps. To the right is a desk and chair of the same ivory colour and to the back is a locked door that leads to the philtering lab. A lockbox, containing the profits of the shop, is nailed to the wall underneath the desk and is only accessible using the key carried by the owner. Ever present in the perfumery is the warm and friendly Jed. If he is not found in the lab experimenting with new scents or poisons, he is often found conversing with customers. With an intuitive sense for others, Jed is prone to give insightful suggestions in regards to choosing certain scents though if asked for his opinion, he is indecisive and far too diplomatic to settle on just one fragrance. At times, customers come simply to speak with Jed for his empathetic and caring nature, though Chessa never lets them leave without a purchase in hand and a return in mind. Once solely a poisoncrafter, Jed has only recently branched into the perfumery out of curiousity. Her mother, an Eypharian, owed a great deal of money toward the Sitai which resulted in their family entering enslavement to pay off their debt. As her daughter possessed the qualities that the Sitai appreciated, she was taken into the family whereas her mother was sold, her current whereabouts unknown. At first, she had thought Jed was a kind master, her vision rosy as she watched from afar. Young as she was, she failed to curb her infatuation, stealing glances that were eventually noticed by the Sitai. Curious of the new slave, she was brought before Jed, her scent instantly obsessing him. Taking her, her innocence soon grew bitter and jaded as affections soured to hate. Thankfully, Chessa learned to hide her disdain, appearing as the perfect servant instead. Soon after she was appointed as his personal slave so that he would more conveniently access her body. Recently, thoughts of freedom have grown stronger and the slave now seeks any opportunity to escape his family's hold. Educated and soft-spoken, Chessa is level-headed and organized, making her an ideal candidate for helping run Jed's perfumery, Sitai's Scents. Now, she is often found behind the counter organizing the paperwork and taking orders. Otherwise, she works diligently to maintain the store for mess and sloppiness bothers her to no end.
