Perfume invaded Kaie's senses as soon as she pressed through the Herald's Arms door. It was a strong, pleasant aroma. The air about her was warm, yet not too warm for this particularly cool Syliras night. Heaths were ablaze across the room, their gentle firelight radiating off the walls. Gentle notes of skilled musicians floated to hear ears in a captivating way. There was no doubt the environment was absolutely soothing. It almost made the savage woman question why the shady figure asked her to arrive here. After all what kind of shadowy business man liked to discuss potentially gruesome matters in one of the most lovely businesses of the city?

Almost sick of the bar stools she was so used to at the Stallion, Kaie changed pace. Rather than immediately ordering a drink she headed toward the lounge. It wasn't too far from the liquor counter if she changed her mind. The Myrian sunk into the chair and looked around patiently. The business was pretty commendable. There was at least half a dozen in this room alone. Considering its reputation she knew it was certainly occupied on its other floors as well. There was some distant laughing, giggling more like it. And she couldn't help but wonder if all the crazy stories were true about the place. What sorts of entertainment might she find..If only she knew where to look?

[The Herald's Arms] Entertaining An Extrovert (Hiwalani)

Hiwalani sat at the tables across from the liquor counter. Socializing was all that he was there for. He was constantly moving about the room. About a bell ago he was with a group in a lounge, talking one in the crowd into buying him a drink. Five chimes later he at the bar enjoying a the same strangers company. Now they were close together and the stranger wispered something into Hiwalani's ear. Hiwalani flashed a look and leaned in to whisper back. Bite Me he said. And laughed as his would-have-been companian walked away. At least he still had his drink.
Now alone, he looked around the room. Who in the world would step up to the plate next? The energy of The Heralds Arms put his mood in a certain place and he felt like he could bite and would love someone to bite back.

Time was passing and still, no sign of said employer yet. Still the night was young and until then, the young woman would play. Eventually she went straight for the liquor counter, searching for an empty seat until she found one. It was right there toward the corner wedged between two others. Though more intimate than she wished, she'd take it.

Kaie's confident gait found its way toward the man at his seat. The Myrian sat in the chair beside him and considered buying herself a well deserved drink. That is until she managed to overhear part of the conversation beside her. The savage woman turned to see a woman storm away from a thick black haired man. Appraising him, Kaie found he was thin but still moderately muscular. Not a bad looking guy. Definitely a bar goer or some sort of entertainer at the least. Being a bartender at the Rearing Stallion her knowledge told her he was highly social and he thrived off it. Having put off a companion like that, Kaie couldn't help but put in her two cents.

"You know, I would've thought you the type to be a bit more...Adventurous. After all isn't that what you came here for?"

Hiwalani put down his glass and looked towards the source of the voice communicating with him. He looked at the woman and tried to take in what he saw.

Doesn't exactly look human. He thought to himself. Judging others wasn't a considerable strong suit. Her eyes and the way she holds herself... confident. She also managed to hear what I was saying to 'what's-the-name' even though I was whispering. the train of thought continued for a moment, but concluded with Just have fun.

With his chin resting on the back of his hand, he spoke, "Well. Adventure, yes. But, many people make it a little too easy." He laughed. The glass he flirted for was empty, His eyes wandered from hers to inspect the troublesome problem of an empty cup. "Sometimes a little challenge can be exhilarating." He flashed his eyes back at her, only for a moment. His attention slipped towards a group passing by, then a rather loud crowd in the booths. It had trouble finding its way back to the pressing conversation.

Kaie scanned him coolly for a bit before a sly smile crept across her features. He wasn't just a social creature, but a flirt. More specifically, a manipulator. He used his last companion to get what he wanted and then kicked them to the curb. Though she couldn't quite help but wonder what a challenge he would be. The Myrian woman doubted he could out do her in that respect. After all, she was a savage wearing a constant mask of civility in the City of Peace. She was a walking image of manipulation. Could he dare try to match her?

"I couldn't agree more. So what's your plan, hm? Going to wait for the next poor, desperate soul to come waltzing over to fill your glass again?" She started nonchalantly as if it were a simple observation. She quirked a brow at the guy and eyed his cup rather obviously. A challenge.

"So tell me. Does a pretty face always get whatever it wants?"

He took a moment to respond, finally his attention decided to partake in the conversation with the woman beside him. Still, his face didn't reveal much interest. His socializer quite probably outmatched him, he wouldn't notice until he came into contact with the consequences of the situation. "Now when you put it like that you make it sound like I'm taking advantage of them. I'm just..." He searched for an analogy that would make sense, "...drinking from a glass until I get bored of the flavor."

He pushed the glass aside and took the next comment as a compliment. Leaning back and assuming an open position in the chair he was sitting in, he decided to play what she said back on her with a bit more flattery in the return package. "I wouldn't know." He made eye contact again, "Do you always get what you want?" Flirting around was such a good feeling, and when ever he did, he wanted to do it more.

He licked his lips and rubbed a toothpick against them. All that time he maintained eye contact with her. No particular reason for it, though. If you asked him, he probably wouldn't be able to recall doing it, but it did bring attention to his lips. In fact, one with little to no will might even stare at them instead of his eyes. Playing with his lips was something that happened when the situation was right.

Kaie grinned crookedly at his response. His analogy proved amusing and she decided perhaps challenging this socialite wasn't much a bad idea after all. He seemed to be keeping up with her thus far, but she wondered if she could eventually widen the gap. Maybe he'd surprise her.

"I guess that depends on how badly I want it," She offered coolly with a flashy grin. She drummed her fingertips on the counter, turning her head to glance softly over her shoulder every so often. Bold brown eyes gazed meaningfully across the floor though it appeared passive and casual. Hips faced the counter rather than her speaker to give the illusion she was still alone. After a few moments, Kaie then turned her attention back to the man before her, continuing their game.

"You know, your glass is pretty empty. I'll have to assumed you're bored of that flavor by now. Why don't you get yourself a new one," She challenged with a quirk of her brow, waiting to see his reaction. Right on cue the bartender strolled over and placed a drink in front of her.

"Compliments from table four," He said upon placing it upon the counter and turning back to the other patrons. Kaie could only shrug at the man, letting him know the competition was in full swing. She was a bartender in one of the most popular taverns after all. What a waste of time it would've been if after so many grueling hours there, she hadn't mastered the art of earning free drinks.

Now Hiwalani's attention found worth in the conversation. His eyes fluttered about the environment, taking in as much as they could. Perhaps he could learn something from this woman. Her posture, her eyes, her hands, everything she did was taken into account. He leaned in to the conversation, refusing to reveal how interested he was.

"Now tell me, here we are testing each others game and we don't even know our first names. And I've tried so many different flavors today, the next drink I get I won't remember what mine is." He smiled, truly. It wasn't something one saw often. He genuinely smiled, and when he did, only his upper teeth showed when he smiled and it was revealed his smile went against his straight teeth and crooked itself. Although he didn't know it (and most likely would never believe it), his genuine smile could attract attention as if it were a free bag of gold mizas. "So tell me, would you happen to remember my last name? I sure don't." He realized he smiled and felt self conscious about it. It caused him to pull back from the conversation and even showed a little on his face, but he was quick to bury it up again before he could be seen as vulnerable.

The glass in front of him was still empty. He glanced around the room, making eye contact with random strangers, trying to light a spark that would let the tabs flow. Maybe he might even stick around for a while this time.

Kaie turned smoothly and flashed a coy grin toward the table a few yards behind them. She waggled her fingers in a wave and then spun back around, gratitude stated. Facing the young man again and sipped her drink casually, waiting for his reply to her little game. His smile was real this time rather than whatever he had flashed at the strangers earlier. She mirrored his and shrugged at the fact they remained nameless to each other. His grin was attractive and no doubt there was someone else taking notice of it. This kid was a pretty boy and she hardly thought he'd struggle to keep up for some time at least. Not with a winning face like that.

"Come on. You're not scared of a woman outshining you, are you?" She taunted devilishly with a smirk, eyes bright and enthusiastic. Of course back in her world woman were the ones that shined. Hardly was there ever an exception. But that was far back in the jungle where society was run by the matriarchs. This was Syliras where men were the dominant gender. The game as she knew it, learned it, was right in this bustling city. She knew how to play her hand even if she didn't have the right cards. After all what was a name in a bar worth?

[The Herald's Arms] Entertaining An Extrovert (Hiwalani)

Postby Hiwalani Kau'i on September 8th, 2013, 4:55 pm

"Saying that a man should be ashamed for a woman besting him at something is a bit... Pre-Valterrian. Don't you think?" He never thought that men were superior to woman, mostly because he watched his mother work hard with a disadvantage as a single parent and still managed to provide everything for both Hiwalani and herself. He respected women a little more at the moment since it had been but ten days since she passed away. "Anyways, names can mean alot between strangers and-"

A stranger walked up to him, a male. "Excuse me, I saw you sitting at this table lone, and I thought I could interest you in a drink." People always came up to Hiwalani, no one ever thought of just sending over a good word.
Hiwalani thought about it for a moment. The stranger wasn't bad, in fact, no not bad looking at all. "Sure," he softly spoke, "Just give me bell if your willing to wait that long." Th stranger nodded and looked for other ways of passing time.

"As I was saying, names can mean alot between strangers and-"

"From table six." the bartender said, rather annoyed. Hiwalani was just as upset, if not more for being interrupted twice in one sentence. The fact that there was a game going on didn't even cross his mind. He was just focused on his conversational counter part. She really works her eyes. But that's all he could make of it at the moment. He tried to do the same, it worked, but not to the same strength.

"Let me try to finish this time. I was just going to say," He spoke slowly as if to creep the sentence into the ears of his conversational stranger without whatever powers above that kept interrupting him from noticing, "Names can mean alot between strangers and-"

"Excuse me, sir." The bartender interrupted.

"What." He snarled. He was silently, angrily accepting the fact that he would probably never finish his sentence.

"You have a drink coming from table two..."

Hiwalni dismissed table two with a glance and a flash of his offensive finger. "Thank you, but I'll savor this drink before I move on to the next one." He told the bartender before taking a sip of his new flavor.
