Livi currently goes by the name Nevin Margaitis. She's spent most of her life living as a man. It's how she feels most comfortable because her mother made her terrified of being a girl. She believed that girls were weak and boys were strong and that girls would always end up victims in the end. Even now that Livi's mother is gone, she still feels safer and stronger as her male persona and isn't able to accept her feminine side.
She also has a lot of unanswered questions surrounding her mothers past, her death, and what happened to her sister. One day she hopes to have them answered, but that means returning to Kenash to get those answers, which is the last place she ever wants to be. For now, she's doing her best to be content with day-to-day life in the big city where she can get lost in the crowd.

Livi's early years were spent with her parents, hiding all across Mizahar. Her mother was an escaped slave from Kenash. She got pregnant with Livi while she was someone else's property and whenever Livi would push to know more, her mother would shut down, putting an end to the conversation. Because of that, Livi was never able to do more than scratch the surface when it came to her roots. All she was able to discover, was that her father was a "salesman" passing through Kenash when he met her mother. They fell in love, conceived Livi and later fled for Sunberth with Livi in her mother's womb.
Livi was born in Sunberth, but the family didn't put down roots anywhere. Whatever happened in Kenash continued to haunt them and her mother was never able to find peace. When she was seventeen, her mother was murdered. Her body was barely cold when her father swept her away to Syliras in order to protect her better, hoping she might blend into the city. His hopes were realized when Livi made herself at home in Syliras, but she lives in fear of being found and taken back to replace her mother as a slave or something worse.
