The Road Opens
Autumn 1st 513 AV; 12th Bell
Location: The Bronze Woods...
Time. That's all that he was short of. As the bear dragged his pack into the cavern and threw it within he turned around quickly, feet pounded urgently on the stone floor as he made his way out. He had to keep his eyes in a squint just to be able to keep in focus, the world just barely in a blur all around as he tried to maintain his formal vision. He was another year older now. With age came growth until finally the body would begin to breakdown, though the bear had quite a number of years ahead of him, that still didn't prevent the change in his mind and body from occuring. He stubbed his left foot on a rump in the stone floor and bellowed out, anguish in his expression as he grinded his teeth and went to take a seat. He kept steady breaths as he brought his foot close for inspection, no blood so far just a really red and really sore foot by the looks of it. He cursed as he released the limb from his grasp, a sigh as he looked up to the ceiling escaped as his feelings sunk in.
"That time of the year..." He had a full season left, and now that he found a wonderful cave to hide his things in, he was ready to begin the preparation. Winter approaches and with it another season full of sleep, which meant... he had to eat. A lot. As much food as he could have to build enough fat for the cold, while he slept the Winter away the rest of the year. Things however required time and time was something that slipped away, he was running short of it all. Everything. His desire to find a close attachment, his curiosity for all the food in the world, all of it would one day be gone and he didn't want that. Not now not ever. It scared him enough as it was, the fact time never stopped made the idea all the more petrifying. Yet the very sounds that filled his ears were the sounds he never expected, footsteps that shuffled in pairs made their way up to the cavern. Footsteps that belonged to two humans who had terrible intentions for people like our ignorant bear.
