Appearance: What do you look like?
Character Concept
Hekra is a trader by heart and a tendency to see things as transactions. She tends to see social ties in terms of a trading action having a habit of returning favours with equal favours as soon as possible. She has a spiritual side which comes from her calling as spiritist and she can have boundless patiance with a spirits and ghosts but sometimes very little patience with similar acts of the living. She dislikes brutish violance and sees people who heed it as a childre but does see a reason in defending one self when needed but does make a crystal clear distinction of survival and convenience. She values of knowledge, profit and shiny and interesting things. She likes to scrounge the surrounding areas as the time permits from her work as a trader and spiritist. The foolish landwellers do not know of the treasures that sometimes can be found right under their noses in the docks or on nearby bodies of water. And sometimes the ghosts and spirits can be talked to reveal small secrets for favours...

Birth
Hekras story starts as is customary for her family from the ages past. There is a big hidden reef in the deeper parts of the ocean next to a rift that vanishes in the deepness of the ocean. The family and blood relatives relatives tend to bring their eggs to hatch there. The place is valued for the quiet song of whales that delve in the surrounding area, and sometimes one can hear a mournful voices from the deeps joining in their song. The reef itself is quite safe place for the younglings despite its remote position from Charbosi proper. There are also some dwellings made in the central part of the reef for the older kin who have decided to come listen to the quiet songs in their final parts of their life and maintain the reef and welcome the younglings that emerge from the reef.
Parents traders and moving about a lot & growing up
After her hatching she was tended by an uncle for a while, she had taken her sweet time emerging from the pods and her parents had left for their next voyage with her podkin as she had finally emerged. She spend her first years with the older Charoda in the reef until she could be ready to move to Charbosi with some relatives. As her parents returned from their voyage she was taken in with joy to the family. She quickly learned small parts of their trade and had a duty to bring in childish but acute questions during the business negations where they were deemed to be beneficial. She quickly understood the basics of the give and take, and would end up in small troubles with her podkin as she would sometimes manage to talk them in quite outrageous deals relating to the small hoards of loot they had scavenged as the family traveled.
Scavenging and looting
This was the past time of her sisters and brothers, as they traveled a lot while being tutored by their parents in all things relating to Charbosi. One of her most priced possessions was an odd tome that her father said was written in "Nader-canoch" and that it would be quite a valuable if it would be sold, but she never could manage to reach an agreement when she would contact the sages or other learned people in the land dwellers cities. Best deal she ever managed relating to it was allowing to copy it in exchange of lessons about this "Nader-canoch". Language which was supposed to be some sort of secret knowledge according to the man at least but she did have a feeling that this was part of his sales speech. It was few years after that when the disaster struck. She was 23 and confident in her abilities and wandered closer to a ship that had a bad reputation, others of her podkin were not willing to join her but she pressed onwards. What followed is uncertain, she is told that she was found wandering in the area nearby few days later in a confused state. She was not hurt and only shaken and cold to her core, and only a faint recollection of ancient laughter, dry but amused. The healers in the next safe haven stated that she had been possessed and was lucky that she was still alive. But Hekra to day has a feeling that she was not in any real danger.
Staying with the teacher while parents continue the trade
She decided to learn more about this thing she had experienced and it was agreed that she would stay behind for a while and make sure that there was no odd after effects. His family also pooled some money so that she could continue her studies during this time and as they carrier on she was left to study under the man. He was not a man of great gift in magic but was kind enough and did his best to provide her with adequate training despite her special circumstances concerning some of the basic necessities of spiritist. Next year when her family returned to sell some coal she rejoined the caravan, with the basics of this art firmly in grasp. Still a novice but she would seek out spiritists and resolve minor incidents as the time permitted from the family business.
Setting out on your own and initial problems and series of small disasters meets the party
In her 25th birthday she had a serious conversation with her parents and the other members of the caravan. She had lagged the caravan due to a case involving spiritism in last port and as the problem was stated she could do nothing but nod. She would have to make a decision between her aspirations as spiritist and as a trader. The two had a synergy that she liked but was not compatible with the busy schedule of her caravan life. She would need to strike out on her own or put the aspirations on the hold. She chose the obvious course of action and transferred her earnings to trade goods she would easily sell and which would be light to carry and joined a smaller caravan to try her own luck.
