Ignisa Winterflame

a
BASICS

a
APPEARANCE

Tall for a Vanthal, Ignisa stands at around five feet ten in height, towering over most of her kind, and in fact, many of her peers in Lhavit as well. This sometimes ensures that she comes across as intimidating, especially when she is in one of her moods, but her otherwise relaxed manner and posture is often enough to put others at ease. It does however, draw more attention to her than she would otherwise like, which is an annoyance to her. Yet, she possesses the inherent athletic build of her people that gives her grace and mobility despite her apparent awkwardness.

It is to be noted that the pale skin that Ignisa bears is entirely natural, and is partially a result of her family's permanent migration from Avanthal to Lhavit causing less exposure to the light from snow, and also due to her family heritage. Despite its rarity in Avanthal, Ignisa's family has found, since moving to Lhavit all those years ago, that such skin is far more common outside the halls and the holds of Avanthal. Her skin, is starting to show some signs of age, especially at the corner of her eyes where wrinkles are starting to form. It is also to be noted that she has a very faint assortment of (very old) scars covering her arms and face due to the dangerous nature of Fire Reimancy, and it is a sign of the immense amount of dedication and practice she put into perfecting her craft in the early years of her life.

As a full-blooded Vantha, however, her most distinguishing features are her shimmering dark brown hair and the ethereal quality of her eyes. Both mark her out as one of the People of the Aurora Borealis, the lights of the far north. Her hair, though naturally dark brown in colour, shimmers with faint crimson and red lights during winter, and is an impressive display with the fact that due to the milder climate of Lhavit, Ignisa has let her hair fall down to her waist in all its glory. Her eyes are also naturally brown, expressive and subtle at the same time, and take on varying hues depending on her emotions. They have been known to range from a fiery amber when she is angered, to taking on a deep and mournful blue highlight when her husband died not too long ago.

Though Ignisa's ancestors were entirely from the city of Avanthal, since her family's resettlement in the city of Lhavit they have adapted to the Star City's customs remarkably well. They adapted to the chill air of the star City very well, for their bodies were immune to the cold, and due to the short but intense and humid heat of the summer, they tend to wear clothes with their shoulders bare, leaving as much skin as is decent exposed to the elements, even in winter.

a
PERSONALITY

Fire ... it burns in all things, in the souls and hearts of the living, in the mana of all things that grow, and in the elemental fury of the volcanoes that are fuelled by Ivak's rage. In some, that fire is no more than a candle, quiet and unseen by many, subtle in its work, but easily extinguished. In others, it roars like a bonfire, burning with the heat of the sun, defying the darkness and shadows that threaten the world with its mere existence, and all the more the shadows try to snuff it out. To the non-sentient beings of the natural world, it is granted in small measure to accomplish the most basic, yet important, of deeds - survival. On the other extreme, the Gods carry flames in them large enough to shape the world to their design, performing deeds both wondrous and dangerous. And there are the mortal races, burning with their own fires and desires, each granted with the power to change a small part of their world and their lives.

It burns within her heart, pruned to both nurture and destroy. Warmth it provides, and comfort in these dark times, burning away the shadows and replacing it with light and the known. They say that fire represents passion, and true enough, Ignisa is a passionate woman, driven and intense, the strength of her emotions great. With this fire burning within her, she has a strong sense of right and wrong, and is not easily swayed from her decisions by any form of intimidation. Her strength of will in itself is hard to overcome even in the best of times when she puts it forth at full strength, and coupled with her great height, some find her intimidating at best and frightening at worst. For good or for ill, it is hard to say no to Ignisa for one reason or another, be it due to her forceful personality, or otherwise.

But there can be such a thing as too much passion, and sometimes this is the case with Ignisa, for fire also consumes, trying to overcome all obstacles whatever the cost, even if it means burning itself out in the process. Ignisa's one greatest flaw is her accumulated age and wisdom, or rather, what it leads to. Her age and wisdom gives her valuable experience that she sometimes takes to mean that she can order another person's life to the better, no matter how irritating her actions may be. Of course, Ignisa often can, and has done so. Yet, this has resulted in her being slightly complacent, assuming that since she has so often been right, she will always be right, which is definitely not the case. And this has also led to tensions between her and those whose lives she chooses to order around, if not outright anger.

a
BACKGROUND

It is not entirely known why Ignisa's family suddenly shifted from Avanthal to Lhavit, or why the move was conducted with such urgency or desperation. It is only known that in the Spring of the year 477 AV, when Ignisa was but a young child of four and Elisanira a few months old, their family was no longer welcome in the Winterflame Hold, or indeed, in any hold of the city itself. The gossips in Lhavit whisper about a conflict of religion, of purpose and duty between the elders of Ignisa's family and those of the rest of Avanthal, coming to a head in the Winter of 476 AV, and that in the Spring of 477 AV when the trade routes reopened after the ice thawed, their entirely family packed up and left the city, unsure of their destination.

Eventually however, Ignisa and her family arrived at Lhavit, the City of Stars, and it was there that they found peace and solace under the protection of the Queen of Stars and the Sky. Ignisa's grandmother, Lanna, was closeted with the Alvina and the Anchorite for the longest time, while her family awaited judgement from above with bated breath. Yet, it was as though the God of Luck, Ovek, smiled down upon them and showered them with good fortune, for when Lanna returned to them, it was as though the cares had been eased from her shoulders. In return for their undying loyalty to the city, their family would be granted sanctuary in the city against whoever would bear them ill-will.

And so Ignisa grew up, not just as a Winterflame in exile, but also as a Lhavitian, immersed in the city of magic and study, the city of freedom and restraint, of progression and conservation. The city of duality in all forms that it could possess. With an eye for Reimancy, Ignisa was taught by the instructors of the Dawn Tower as one of their most promising students. However, her training was cut short when she fell in love with Namell, a shielder and fellow student, and when she married him in 490 AV, her studies were completely put to a halt as she took care of the house and the four children she bore him.

Many challenges they faced together over the years, the fall of Lhavit from its splendour, the Day of Discord and fall of the Anchorite, and the Divine Djed Storm not two years past. But now, Ignisa is alone once more in the world, her husband having died in a magical accident in the Summer of 513 AV. As of Fall 513 AV, she now seeks employment in Lhavit as a Reimancer, putting her skills in Fire and Water to good use.

Who else is going to support her children?

HOUSING :: HOLDINGSImage

With the recent death of her husband, Ignisa's family has fallen on rather hard times. Using much of what remained of her husband's money in the Summer of 513 AV, Ignisa bought a small house on the Tenten Peak equipped with the basic necessities for herself before she and her children moved in, and with a goodly portion of her savings, furnished it to support five instead of one. The house is made of the usual Skyglass that comprises all of Lhavit, and as such it serves to keep her family comfortable in these trying times. They do not have the luxury that they had before, but neither are they living in squalor ... yet. As such, Ignisa is now seeking employment services in the city of Lhavit as a Reimancer, be it on the ground practical magic, or as an instructor in one of the Towers, in order to finance her family.

The interior of the house is rather cramped, as it has to accomodate the living arrangements of five instead of one, with extra beds and chests for their own personal belongings. All extra furniture is simple and unadorned, until at least when they can assumed some measure of stability in income when Ignisa is employed. After all ... none of her children have finished their apprenticeship in whatever tradecraft they are taking up, though certainly her eldest daughter Sana will be ready to do so soon. How soon however, is left up to the question.

Starting Package
1 basic 20x20 single room cottage (400 sq feet) with a hearth, bunk, chest, chair, and small table.

Additional Purchases made
4 x Bed (Average) = 40 Kina
5 x Chairs (Average) = 3.5 Kina
1 x Table (Average) = 1 Kina

(All additional purchases have been accounted for in the currency section)

a
ATTIRE :: ACCESSORIES

Though Ignisa and her family have had to change their lifestyle to accommodate the lack of income for the last season, that does not mean by far that Ignisa will compromise on their hygiene. As far as possible, they must have several sets of clothes, so that Aquisea will be able to have time to clean and deal with the laundry before they wear their clothes again. Cleanliness is the first step to hygiene, and Ignisa follows that rule with an almost devout flair. She does not care that her family has little to no jewelry to wear, cheap or expensive, unlike most of the rest of Lhavit.

Ignisa's attire is most often to be found in shades of crimson and brown, dark and respectful colours for the night. However, she does keep one set of clothing that shimmers in the sun, being made of Silk in the colours of fire, all the shades of yellow to red, a tribute to the sun's light. It is used for formal occasions only, when Ignisa wishes to wear her best for the festivities and the like. All other garments owned by her and her family are made of coarse woolen as a mark of their fall from grace due to her husband's death.

Ignisa's Expenses
4 x Dresses = 3.2 Kina
4 x Corsets = 1.2 Kina
4 x Shoes = 1.2 Kina
7 x Undergarments = 0.7 Kina
Total = 6.3 Kina

Terron's Expenses
4 x Shirt = 0.4 Kina
4 x Breeches = 3.2 Kina
4 x Shoes = 1.2 Kina
1 x Leather Apron (Smithing) = 0.6 Kina
7 x Undergarments = 0.7 Kina
Total = 5.5 Kina

Sana's Expenses
4 x Tunic = 2.0 Kina
4 x Corset = 1.2 Kina
4 x Skirt = 1.6 Kina
4 x Shoes = 1.2 Kina
7 x Undergarments = 0.7 Kina
Total = 6.7 Kina

Aquisea's Expenses
4 x Shirt = 0.4 Kina
4 x Breeches = 3.2 Kina
4 x Shoes = 1.2 Kina
1 x Apron (Cooking) = 0.3 Kina
7 x Undergarments = 0.7 Kina
Total = 5.8 Kina

Sretia's Expenses
4 x Robes = 4 Kina
4 x Shoes = 1.2 Kina
7 x Undergarments = 0.7 Kina
Total = 5.9 Kina

a
ImageTRINKETS :: HEIRLOOMS

Carved in ice and kept frozen solid by grace of Morwen's mark, Ignisa wears a pendant of ice around her neck, as do all members of her family. It serves as a reminder of their ancestral home, for only through the Mark of the Ice Reavers can her family keep the pendants frozen solid, at any time, any place. Framed by delicate silver that reflects light like a mirror, the ice glimmers a beautiful white at noon, even as it is hung around Ignisa's neck with silver hammered as fine as threads. But in the light of the moon and the stars, the light refracts through the ice, and glitters in multiple colours and hues depending on the angle at which one gazes at the pendant. Some say that it looks like Skyglass, but indeed, the light is somewhat too sharp and hard to be that precious material of Zintila's, and is reminiscent of the frozen hardiness of the Vantha, adapted to the lifestyle of the Lhavitians.

a
SUPPLIES :: SUNDRIES

In line with Ignisa's obsession with hygiene, each member of the family has their own toiletry set. There are also enough cutlery (1 x knife/fork/spoon) for each of the members of the family.

As per Elysium's instructions, I will subsume the costs under the seasonal living expenses.

a
LORES

Lore of Lhavit Streetplan
Lore of Lhavitian Culture

a
ARCANE

Reimancy: 30 EXP (SP) - Fire, Water

Ignisa was always attuned to the arts of the arcane from her birth, though as per all magic, the skills had to be taught rather than being innately born. When her parents removed to the city of Lhavit, it was the perfect opportunity to see the fruits of all the various arts of magic come into being, from the mysticism of Auristics, to the strange shapeshifting powers of Morphing, to the grand and flashy displays of Reimancy. Enrolled in the Dawn Tower to learn the arts of Fire Reimancy, Ignisa quickly learned to manipulate water as well. She showed much promise, before she ended up falling in love and marrying, settling down as a housewife while her husband earned the money. Now, thrust into the working world after the untimely death of her husband, she seeks to expand her skills in Reimancy once more to complement her line of work.

Meditation: 10 EXP (SP)

Meditation is often considered to be an important part of study and learning in the usage of Personal Magic, for it is often through meditation that the Reimancers of the Dawn Tower learn to control their emotions and desires where magic is concerned. However, Ignisa being the emotional person she is, finds that attaining such a level of calm and inner emptying of thoughts of not just foreign, but an alien concept to her. As such, to her, meditation is a time of consideration, of judgement of one's actions via her inner and calmer self, a time of reflection. So rather than trying to empty her thoughts, she embraces them, examines them, and discards those that are useless to her. That is how she does meditation, even if currently she has lost much of her touch with it.

a
SOCIAL

Storytelling: 10 EXP (RB)

As a trait inherited from the Vantha that her family left behind in their exile, Ignisa is a passable Storyteller, or at least good enough to get her children to stay in bed and sleep when they were younger. Of course, Ignisa has never had much reason to hone this skill, and so her abilities in this skill remain rather rudimentary, but nonetheless they serve to get her by whenever she feels the need to embellish her stories.

Leadership: 10 EXP (SP)

Sometimes, working as a team amongst Reimancers requires a measure of leadership when things get rough. Bringing up children, in a sense, also requires a measure of being able to lead, if not drag. Of course, Ignisa has never truly been a position of power before, though indeed she is the Matriarch of her immediate family with the death of her husband. Ignisa is sometimes considered to be the matriarch of the Winterflames in exile in Lhavit of her generation, even though it is technically Grandmother Lanna who is the Pavintu Janta, or the Matriarch, of their family and hold-in-exile in Lhavit.

a
RELIGIONS AND GNOSIS

a
ImageZINTILA

Born and raised in the Starcity of Lhavit, it should come as no surprise to any that Ignisa devotes the majority of her worship to the Alvina of the Stars, the Sky and the Constellations. As the goddess graces the city with every festival, descending from her tower to view the assembled masses, Ignisa's family fell in love with her ever since. Besides, Ignisa's family owe the Lady of Stars a debt for allowing them to resettle in the city after they fled their homeland in Avanthal. The reasons for this remain unknown, and are a closely secret held between the members of the Council and with Ignisa's grandmother. Still, they recognize the benevolence of Zintila, and sing her praises at every festival, their emotional and exuberant voices giving life to the most ancient stories of the Lhavitians - how their people found Zintila and made her their own.

a
ImageMORWEN

Though for all intents and purposes Ignisa's family was banished from Avanthal, they have not forgotten the howling winds on the snow-covered plains, the glassy lakes covered with thick and sometimes fragile ice, the freezing cold of the tundra atmosphere, nor the Queen that rules over all these and more in all her wintry glory. Though Ignisa grew up in Lhavit and her main focus of worship is Zintila, she was also brought up to pay her respects to the Maiden of Winter, the Queen Morwen. Furthermore, the fact that the Gnosis Marks granted to those of her family born in Avanthal did not fade was taken by her family as a sign that they were, in a way, forgiven by the Great Queen even if the people of Avanthal were not so understanding. During the Midwinter Festival, Ignisa's family celebrates the height of Morwen's power in the world, and long for the day that they may once again be welcome to see the frozen icy tundras of Avanthal.

Ice Reaving - Marked

Born in the city of Avanthal and as one of the Vantha, Ignisa naturally has the mark of Morwen emblazoned on her shoulder in the form of a delicate but beautiful snowflake in colours of winter's ice - blue, white and even grey. Though Ignisa's family has long since fled their homeland, the marks have never faded from their bodies, giving them a natural immunity to the winter cold of Lhavit. She also has the ability to bend small amounts of ice to her will, melting and freezing ice and water with but a gesture of her hand. However, due to the fact that none of her children were born in Avanthal or even are full Vantha, none of them bears the mark that allows Ignisa such comfortability in the coldest of Lhavit's weathers.

a
SYNA, LETH, TANROA

ImageImageImage

Having grown up in Lhavit, Ignisa also pays tribute to the Holy Trinity of Tanroa, Syna and Leth, for they are the next three of the Pantheon in the line of worship in Lhavit after Zintila. When Ignisa has some spare time, often during the festivities, she may be found occasionally in their respective temples, thanking them for allowing her and her family, both immediate and extended, a measure of comfort in their exile from their homelands of Avanthal.

NPCs

a
ImageName: Terron Winterflame
NPC Type: Stationary
Race & Gender: Human - Half-Vantha / Male
Age: 18
DoB: 30th Day of Spring, 495 AV
Relation to PC: Son
Location: Lhavit
Skills: As an apprentice smith, Terron has abilities in Metalsmithing and Shielding.
  • Metalsmithing (30 EXP)
  • Shielding (20 EXP)
Other: Terron and Sana, fraternal twins, embody the passionate side of Ignisa, though they are both gentler in nature than their mother. Often thought to be as calm as the earth itself, Terron has few friends, but fewer enemies. Yet, those bonds of friendships that he has made endure like the mountains in the wind.

Terron will be open to play eventually once I have gotten Ignisa settled down into Lhavit.

His expenses will be subsumed under Ignisa's expenses.

a
ImageName: Sana Winterflame
NPC Type: Stationary
Race & Gender: Human - Half-Vantha / Female
Age: 18
DoB: 30th Day of Spring, 495 AV
Relation to PC: Daughter
Location: Lhavit
Skills: As an apprentice healer of the Catholicon, Sana has abilities in Medicine and Herbalism
  • Medicine (30 EXP)
  • Herbalism (10 EXP)
  • Rhetoric (10 EXP)
Other: An apprentice healer of the Catholicon, Sana has learned much in her years of healing the sick and wounded. Soon, very soon, she plans to take up a permanent trade and job as a journeyman healer at the Catholicon. More obviously passionate than her brother Terron, Sana also tends to have outbursts of emotional passion when the mood takes her, and people can sometimes be easily swayed by the natural gift of rhetoric that comes from her Vantha side.

She is also a Marked of Rak'keli due to her devotion to healing.

Sana will be open to play eventually once I have gotten Ignisa settled down into Lhavit.

Her expenses will be subsumed under Ignisa's expenses.

a
ImageName: Aquisea Winterflame
NPC Type: Stationary
Race & Gender: Human - Half-Vantha / Female
Age: 15
DoB: 43rd Day of Autumn, 498 AV
Relation to PC: Daughter
Location: Lhavit
Skills: Aquisea is more often found at home than her siblings and her mother, having yet to decide on taking up an apprenticeship, and as such her skills are more domestic in nature.
  • Cook (20 EXP)
  • Reimancy (Water) (20 EXP)
  • Storytelling (10 EXP)
Other: Aquisea is the only one of Ignisa's children to not have totally decided on an apprenticeship, not that many could cope with her explosive temper, which is an example of the drawbacks involved in the Vantha's extroverted nature. Taking after her father, like her twin sister Sretia, she is as blond as they come. However, Aquisea is currently having some thoughts at becoming a cook, for at the age of 15 she certainly can cook better than her mother could ever hope to.

Aquisea will not be open to play anytime in the near future due to her young age, and also because I do not fully intend to develop her as of yet.

Her expenses will be subsumed under Ignisa's expenses.

a
ImageName: Sretia Winterflame
NPC Type: Stationary
Race & Gender: Human - Half-Vantha / Female
Age: 15
DoB: 43rd Day of Autumn, 498 AV
Relation to PC: Daughter
Location: Lhavit
Skills: Far more attuned to the arcane in nature, Sretia follows in her mothers footsteps to become a Reimancer.
  • Reimancy (Air, Water) (30 EXP)
  • Meditation (20 EXP)
Other: Inheriting her father's brains and quiet demeanour, Sretia is perhaps considered to be the ice lady of the entire family, displaying little emotion, only cold logic. Attuned to the arcane like her mother, Sretia is quickly mastering the secrets of Reimancy from the instructors of the Dawn Tower and in order to master the elements of Earth and Fire, will in the future be seeking apprenticeship at the Dusk Towers.

I will eventually be seeking to open her up for play due to the possibility for character development.

Her expenses will be subsumed under Ignsia's expenses.

a
ImageName: Elisanira Winterflame
NPC Type: Stationary
Race & Gender: Human - Vantha / Female
Age: 37
DoB: 12th Day of Winter, 476 AV
Relation to PC: Sister
Location: Lhavit
Skills: Elisanira embraces that artistic nature of her Vantha heritage, and can often be seen performing during festivities.
  • Harpist (30 EXP)
  • Musical Composition (20 EXP)
Other: Elisanira's younger sister is far more focused on the mundane rather than the arcane, and turned her skills thus. Developing a keen intuition for music and its composition, she is a respected performer and can often be seen performing as a Harpist in the festivities. She is on good terms with her sister, but is far quieter in nature, less prone to emotional outbursts that so define her sister's family. Elisanira has a family of her own as well.

Elisanira is a Marked of Morwen as she was born in Avathal.

Elisanira's expenses, as well as her family's expenses, will not be subsumed under Ignisa's expenses.

I will eventually be seeking to open her up for play due to the possibility for character development.
