Shane had never been in the Employment Center before. He had never had marketable skills before but Brun had given him some. With his abilities to read and manipulate people he could surely get a job in some industry. In truth Shane was just rather desperate to get off the streets. Brun had told him that if he followed the code he would be elevated above his normal position but, in regards to that, he had simply been getting a little more money for the strenuous work of begging. It was about time he got a job not just for the money but so that he could learn some new skills. If he could get himself a position with “The Undeniable Interests” shop he might just come across Volume II as well. He walked over to the applications desk and filled in the form. Taking a deep breath he joined the queue for the employment woman. He couldn't see her past the person in front of him so he had no way of knowing what mood she was in right now. When he gave her his application he just might have to suggest “The Undeniable Interests”. He knew it was dangerous but what were the chances of the woman knowing anything about Hypnotism. He would, however, have to be as subtle as he could. He had heard the woman was very observant. [Tichi]

Tichi paused just outside the employment center. She didn’t know if she was more excited or nervous. A job, a real job, for the first time! If her father hadn’t died, she wouldn’t be doing this. Was it bad that she felt no sadness at his passing?

She tilted her head while she thought it over. The man had kept her locked in their little apartment room, forced her to steal, beaten her when she made mistakes…

No. There was no room for sadness at his death. He’d gotten what he deserved, a violent death at the hands of the drunk gamblers he’d tried to cheat. And now Tichi was free. Free to live a law-abiding life that wouldn’t result in the Knights doing something horrid to her. Free to come and go as she pleased. No more clawing at the door, her sobbing pleas to be let out met with kicks and blows. No more stealing missions which she inevitably failed, dropping the stolen object in panic or stashing it then forgetting where.

Excited. Definitely excited.

Tichi bounced up and down on her toes a couple of times, then scurried into the employment center and beamed at the woman who seemed to be in charge. “Hi! I’m looking for a job. I’d like to start right away. I can run really fast and I’m a good climber and I’m really good at getting into tight spaces and being quiet and sneaky and I was thinking I could deliver messages although sometimes I think farming would be nice since it’s outdoors and – oh! A form. I can do that. I can write!”

Beaming even more brightly, Tichi snatched up a paper and writing utensil, then scampered over to a chair. Her writing skills were worse than her reading skills, so she proceeded with a frown of concentration and her tongue between her teeth.

When she finally finished her form and handed it in, it was covered in crossed-out misspelled scrawls. Once deciphered, it read:

Trega smiled to the man as he walked up, and she gladly took his application. The city was seeing more people looking to work in stores rather than the bulk of blacksmiths and mercenaries that trekked through.

"Good day to you. Now let's see...A clerk? Well that could land you a job at the florist shop. The indoor market, Bow shop, leather working, Undeniable Interests. Any of these sound interesting?"

Tichi

Trega looked at the next application with worry. The woman wasn't good at writing, that much was easy to see. She just hoped that the job she was going for didn't require her to write.

"I see....so you wish to be a courier then? Tell me, how well can you read and follow directions?"

[Tichi]

Tichi bounced up and down on her toes and delivered a rapid-fire response. "I can read better than I write, as long as it's not fancy long words. Go here, deliver that, no problem! Poetry would be a problem. I saw a poetry book once. Couldn't make heads or tails of it. Street names, labels on things, right, left, that sort of stuff is easier. I can't imagine somebody would give instructions in fancy poem words, would they? Or is there maybe something else I ought to do instead? I'm good at sneaking but I'm not sure how that would be helpful for anything legal. I don't want to do illegal things and have the Knights after me." She shuddered, and finally fell silent.

Shane smiled as he realised this was going to be easier than he thought. The woman seemed nice and her aura fluctuated pleasantly (or at least it seemed so to Shane who still wasn't exactly a great Aurist). After looking at his form she seemed to offer him the job he wanted right away. Shane knew that he never ought to reveal his full plans to anyone no matter how small or how nice they were. It didn't overly matter much in this situation but it was this thought that stopped him from bursting out into acceptance and 'thank you''s but, instead, had him stand there thoughtfully for a moment as if working out which shop he would prefer. Finally he replied “I think Undeniable Interests would suit me best, Miss.” in his politest voice.

[Khepri]

Khepri followed the directions the knight had given her at the main gates. It truly was right around the corner. She stepped inside and welcomed the slight heat that the small building offered. The Eypharian ran her hands through her hair to shake out some of the water that took refuge there.

The four arm woman glanced around and noticed a small form on the front desk. She quickly filled it out:

Preferred Employment: Have past experience as a body slave as well as a dancer so a position of either or both?

Khepri double checked to make sure everything was filled out and took it to the secretary behind the front desk.

Fall 5, 513 MacMac breathed in silently through her nose, thankful that this office was not quite as noticeably odiferous as the noisome, crowded city that lay outside its doors. She wasn't complaining. She had chosen to come here, and find out more about the world outside Alvadas. Besides, MacMac rarely complained at all. That wasn't her way. So, with the form she'd picked up just inside the door now filled out in a neat hand, she waited patiently in the line, to hand it to the secretary behind the counter. On the form, she had written: Name: MacMac Race: Mixed (Dhani/Human) Age: 19 Relevant Skills: Hunting (10) Tracking (10) Land Navigation (10) Wilderness Survival (10) Shortbow (10) Running (10) Preferred Employment: Hunter Expected Stay In Syliras: Indefinite (probably quite some time) She had high hopes of getting a job. Her hunting skills should be useful to someone, to help feed all the people in this huge anthill of a city. Game meat would be a good supplement to the farm produce from the fields outside the walls. With head held high, as she looked about her, her pinkish white blonde hair a marked contrast to her dark colored clothing, she stepped forward when it was her turn, and handed over the form, with a simple nod and a quiet, "Hello, I'm looking for employment."

Trega could only smile at the fast speaking woman. She was chipper and ready for work, and that was something that the old patron liked to see.

"Well you won't find any street names here, just directions to addresses and the different tiers they are located. But I'm sure you will do fine." She smiled and filed away the application. "Good luck."

"Alright then that will do." Trega smiled and filed away his paperwork. "Off you go."

Khepri

Trega was very surprised to see this next one. Eypharians were very hare in the city, and few were still around the area. The application was also different. The old patron could only assume what a "body slave" was, but a dancer she could find work for.

" The Herald's Arms are hiring dancers, you should check there first."

Mac

The next woman to walk in had a nice spice and style about her. Trega wasn't in to the youth's style, but it wasn't her job to give advice on fashion.

"Hello let's take a look. A hunter, good choice. You will find it easy to sell game this time of year. Good luck to you."

"Thank you, Miss!" Shane said one more time before leaving not even caring that she knew he was happy with his work allocation. After all judging y his filthy get up she would probably assume he was just happy to have a job at all!

[Tichi]

Tichi squeaked in excitement. "Yay! Off I go then, thank you, bye!" She dashed out of the employment office and headed for the market district.
