Anna walked through the rapidly darkening corridors of the Quarters, her grey eyes distant and her expression thoughtful. Her hair was pulled back into its normal tight ponytail and her weathered ragged clothing gave her a rather tired and weary appearance. The light dark circles ringing her eyes spoke of lack of sleep, were it not for the gentle rise and fall of her chest and the occasional blinking of her eyes one might think her a Nuit. Honestly, if Uldr himself appeared before her and offered to make her undead she might have accepted if it would take away the weariness in her body and the hunger in her belly. Besides, Daren would have a much more difficulty murdering what was already dead.

I'll need to pray for forgiveness from Rhysol for that little thought. Perhaps even make a sacrifice. She admonished herself mentally.

So far she was finding that the solution to the problem that was Daren Marlow was proving to be most elusive, he knew everything about her and while she knew enough about him to assess his threat she didn't know enough to actually kill him. Having to look over her shoulder for the other hypnotist, Maduro, was also tiring. They both needed to be eliminated, the latter was the easier of the two but the former could easily destroy her.

Her plan for dealing with Maduro was actually rather simple, once she acquired the rank of wizard she'd arrange a little 'chat' with the fool in the Dungeons to discuss the favor he owed. From there she'd break him utterly or kill him outright, but it needed to be before he tried to attain apprenticeship on the 40th of next season. Her rank would likely be awarded to her on the 30th, which left her ten days to deal with him. Uldr wouldn't be able to protect him forever.

Anna pushed thoughts of vengeance from her mind and rounded the next corner, deciding to give Rhysol his nightly prayer before getting some shut eye. Tomorrow she intended to start her research in glyphed weapons development, looking beyond simple scrolls and attempting a few more complex designs. She figured that combining the two disciplines of reimancy and glyphing would help better her worth in the eyes of Sahova. Perhaps even to the point of getting a small lab... that was the hope anyway.

The tall woman rounded the doorway into her room and was promptly stopped in her tracks by the sight in front of her. Her grey eyes widened in shock, all weariness vanished from her body as another feeling set in: fear. Cold, gut wrenching, primal fear.

The small room she called her own had been violated by another's touch. Her belongings were tossed carelessly about the floor, the chamber pot was dented from an impact against the wall, and her mat was torn to shreds. The thing that most caught her attention was the broken stone on the floor, the exact stone were her notes had been hidden under.

The apprentice nearly tripped over herself to reach the broken stones, touching them with shaking hands. She dared to peer into the hole where her link to her memories were held; it was empty.

No. No! She thought, staring blankly at the hole as if helpless.

Those notes had been her defense against Daren, without them she was vulnerable and weak. He could wipe her memories clean and she'd never know. They had possessed everything, her plans, Amaryllis' teachings, the information she'd gathered, all of it and more. It was all gone.

The shaking hand gripping one of the rocks tightened around it, her fearful grey eyes flashing in the purest rage ever seen within the Chaon. She turned and violently hurled the offending stone out of her room, roaring in rage and hatred in equal measure. The act wasn't nearly enough, she wanted to destroy everything around her with power of the elements. She wanted to rip the stones from the Quarters and crush everyone still inside. She wanted to kill any and all those that conspired against her and bathe in their vital fluids.

Her breathing was heavy but slowly her rational side kicked in, very slowly. She looked down at her right hand, feeling a slight warmth in her palms. Res of the purest crimson color pooled in a tiny out in her palm, showing just how very close she had been in giving into the insane desires. Anna rubbed her temples, she needed to calm down and think. Murder could come later, after she headed straight to the Palsa Hydrasa and made Amaryllis very aware of the current development. The apprentice hated having to crawl to the Embalmer now, but right now she was the only one close enough to her to be of any assistance in this situation. Anna knew that she also needed to hide new notes in a much safer location, much, much safer.

Her thoughts inevitably turned to who the petch was responsible for- for this affront. There were several prospects, a few enemies that might have tried to move against her. The most obvious was Daren, though how he would have learned of the location was beyond her knowledge. Powerful though he was, Amaryllis' techniques helped defend against his influence. So if not him then who?

Maduro was thrown out as a possibility immediately, the fool was too stupid and wrapped up in himself to find his own ass with a map and a compass. Anna was certain that any move he made against her would be painfully amateurish and likely would involve another attempted murder. No, he was an enemy but a weak and powerless one.

Then who the petch could it have been? Who else knew her secret?

Well, Amaryllis knew but why would she bother to try something like this? Anna was her instrument in killing Daren, besides Anna was certain that if the Embalmer had wanted her dead she could easily arranged it a long time ago. Perhaps it was some unseen enemy, one that had been hiding until now to strike out at her.

The apprentice shook her head, dispelling the thoughts for now. The Palsa Hydrasa, that was her safe place and likely where she could get more answers. The shaken woman started out of her room, intent on getting to the bottom of this one way or the other.

Crypt Keepers [Kouri, Mirage]

In one of the Quarter's hallway...

Suddenly turning her head to examine the area behind her back, the ghost girl exhaled in relief, no one was following her, she was safe... for now. Kouri had grown quite paranoid during her stay in Sahova, thanks to the meddling of Mia, the childishly insane ghostly little girl who kept pestering her and asking Kouri to 'play' with her. Mia spoke with such innocence, but her 'plays' involved gruesomely butchering a poor captive or watching a torture session, even worse, she viewed it as a normal thing.

Kouri shuddered, she could feel her fragile sanity beginning to slip, gradually returning herself to her past self due to Mia's influence. However, if she gave in to her impulses, Wanda would trap her forever in Sahova and scattered Rena's ashes to the wind, she couldn't afford that! However, a - growing - part of her mind urged her to just indulge in Mia's games, be her "Big Sis" instead of Rena, who cares about Rena? Mia was so much more fun. She shook her head and let out multiple exasperated gasps, inhaling and exhaling unneeded breath.

"Ha... uuh... " She needed help, from someone who could give her comfort, not Kriem, she was incapable of it; and certainly not Wanda, the Spiritist didn't even care. Then her mind pictured a face, her, Madame Annalisa. Yes, she could do it, Annalisa was wise, understanding, kind, and a Spiritist to boot. Kouri could ask for advices on how to handle Mia and suppress her growing urge. With a meek smile on her powder-white face, Kouri dashed forward, heading to Annalisa's room.

The Vantha girl almost arrived, that's when a scream echoed, followed by something went flying at high speed from one of the many doors.

*WOOOSH!*

*CRAAASH!*

And it crashed into a wall, before falling and thudding back on the ground.

"E-eh?" Kouri put right hand to cover her mouth in reflex. What was that? The ghost girl floated closer and crouched down beside the unknown object. "A... rock?" It was definitely a rock, but this was Sahova, everything here was magical in the ghost girl's mind. "....En?" She turned her head to see where the rock had come form "M-madame... Anna?" to find the seething form of the tall woman. The look of pure rage on Anna's face unnerved the little girl, but her first reaction was not to run away, but to approached and comfort the woman.

Anna had trusted Kouri enough for the ghost to possess her, she should return the trust and affection. Feeling assured that the woman wouldn't attack her in blind rage, Kouri stood up and her tiny feet floated to the woman as Anna got out of her room, her alabaster hair trailing behind her.

"U-uhm... Madame Anna? What happened?" A look of concern, almost motherly gazed at the sorceress. Kouri smiled, she materialized herself, approached Anna and gently hugged her from the front, her much smaller form wrapping around the wizard. Her very long locks also moved by themselves and wrapped the woman like a white blanket.

She looked up, her large eyes holding worry, much like her mother. "Why are you angry? Is there anything I can do?" Odd, Kouri was planning to console herself with the tall woman, but found herself comforting the woman instead.

Running into Kouri on her way out was certainly not something Anna had expected, the chilling touch placed upon her sent an involuntary shudder down her spine. In a way it served to jerk her from both her fear and anger and bring her into a slightly more rational set of mind. Her grey eyes became a little more calm as they stared down at the ghost child, her hand errantly moving to attempt to stroke the ghost's hair.

She was not alone, not yet. She still had the ghost child as an ally of sorts, the girl had not left her yet.

She will though, as soon as she finds out what you are and what you did to become what you are. She'll probably gladly break your neck if she ever found out. A voice of doubt assured her.

The tall woman shook off the thought, she'd find a way to reveal that eventually. Anna didn't even know how the girl would react to Rhysol, it was too early to make judgments there.

"Ah, Kouri. I apologize if I frightened you there, an... incident has caused me a fair bit of frustration. I just needed to blow off some steam, perhaps we should talk about it in a more... private setting with less unfriendly ears." The wizard offered, slowly moving to distance herself from the ghost's hug and kneel to her height.

Anna gazed into the girl's worried eyes, her own eyes much more placid and calm for the Ghost's intervention. Though Anna silently wondered why she was seeking her out today of all days. A question for a little later, for now she really needed to make haste to the Palsa Hydrasa. Daren or whoever did this could be around any corner, waiting for her though now that she had Kouri with her things seemed a bit safer.

"I- I would rather not burden you with my problems. They are... rather messy. However if you really wish to then we must go to the Palsa Hydrasa and speak with my mistress, Amaryllis. Once there... I'll tell you the truth as best I'm able." Anna assured the ethereal child.

Anna had forgotten that the last time Kouri had seen her had been when she had not been an apprentice. She allowed a ghost of a smile to grace her lips and her tone to lighten somewhat.

"Ah! I lighter news, I have my apprenticeship and if my mistress is to be believed the title of Wizard will soon be mine as well. When that happens we will be able to talk much more often if you like, I'll have quite a bit more freedom." Anna said showing Kouri the bronze ring before standing and moving past the ghost.

The hallway was empty, good, so far no Daren or potential enemies waiting around a corner. Anna gestured for the ghost to follow, the small pool of crimson colored res still in her palm. She did not want to be caught unawares by the bloody hypnotist. Caution be damned, the minute she saw him he was going to get lava thrown in his face. There was too much at risk to let him live.

She set off a brisk pace down the corridor, her steps measured but definitely hurried. It would look rather like she was running from something rather than just hurrying to get somewhere. It annoyed her that she was so fearful, but considering her enemy worry was warranted. Kouri was already worried about her and Anna really did not want that, it was sweet and actually rather warming to her black heart but it was unnecessary. Still, an odd feeling had stirred in her chest when the ghost had hugged her, other than revulsion once that she hadn't felt in a long time. It was comparable to the long embrace Velia had wrapped her in when her parents had died.

The tall woman easily navigated through the Quarters, setting off down a corridor that led to the Palsa Hydrasa much more quickly than going through the Courtyard. Daren had been kind enough to show her when he had first escorted her there. She intended to repay that kindness with a knife in his heart.

"Stay close Kouri and keep your eyes open, I have a few enemies that could very well be around the next corner." Anna said, sending a silent prayer to the Lord of Lies that they would arrive in the Palsa Hydrasa without being accosted.

OOCRandom Intervention, keep your posting order :)

An obvious chill fell upon the Quarters, settling on Anna's shoulders like a heavy blanket. Fubuki, however, would notice something else. A strange feeling in her chest, like fear only... thicker. She could almost feel eyes on her, but when she looked nothing was there. For just a moment, the lights flickered though the torches burned, and the shadows in the corner seemed to grow and stretch. Anna would not notice any of these changes however.

A distant voice, so soft it was almost unnoticed, could be heard in the direction of Anna's room,
Run... Run so I can chase you...

These words only Kouri could hear.

"Oh... ehehe~" Giggling in delight when Ana's adult hand ruffled her curtain of of hair, Kouri rewarded the woman with a wide toothy grin. "I hope you are okay now~" The ghost girl was somewhat relieved, Anna was willing to open up to her. Her alabaster locks were like an extension to her limbs, slowly moving up and down, reflecting Kouri's feelings. They kept circling the sorceress even as she knelt down and regarded her.

"Mmmm..." Kouri nodded, so something unfortunate did happen to the wizard and she was angry becaue of it. Kouri understood that very much, it was very human for people to vent off their frustration, good thing Anna didn't harm anyone in her rage and was now willing to calmly talk about it. Eh? Unneeded ears? That brought a question, was someone else here? Kouri instinctively looked around but her crimson eyes found nothing recognizable as a sentient being other than Anna, but this was Sahova, anything could happen. The ghost girl decided to just nod.

"Uh un~" She shook her head "I want to help you, Madame Anna~" It was a simple, no strings attached, request; the generosity of a child. Kouri really did want to help the woman whom she deemed a friend. Friends helped each other, right? The fact about Ama being Anna's mistress caught her eye, she slightly tilted her head, that was interesting. She wanted to ask further, but Anna seemed to read her mind and answered before she could ask.

"Oh! Hehehe~ Congratulations..." Her voice sounded happy at the beginning but faltered at the end. Kouri wasn't sure if being the apprentice of the beautiful Nuit was a good idea. The ghost girl experienced first-hand how Ama's sly mind took advantage of everything she said, letting Kouri fall into her subtle trap of indebt. She hid all that, now was not the time, Anna needed her help. "Alright, let's g-"

*Beat...*

"E-eh...?" Something just happened, Kouri could feel as if time was stopping for a tick, like a being making its presence known to her, but still out of sight. Kouri looked all around her in reflex, but her crimson eyes found nothing... the only recognizable person other than herself was still Anna. Then the lights escaped her eyes, she went utterly blind for barely a tick. "A-ah!" But it was enough to unnerve her and four of her thick black tendrils lashed out from her back, swiveling in the air, ready to protect their Mistress.

But... nothing came for them, this fact only scared the ghost further. Reality distorted itself before her eyes as the shadows ebbed and flowed unnaturally as if they were alive. The final nail on the coffin was the soft whispers from Anna's room... barely audible, Kouri couldn't make out the words completely, but it had 'run' in it, the ghost girl was more than obliged to do so. "U-uhm... l-let's go... let's go!" She urged Anna to move on, her desire to get the shyke out of the place matched Anna's.

"Stay close Kouri and keep your eyes open, I have a few enemies that could very well be around the next corner."

So that's why, Anna had enemies. Perhaps some unknown powerful wizard bent on destroying her. Kouri stayed close to the sorceress as they headed to the Palsa, her materialized right hand tugging on Anna's clothes as she let herself pulled. "I... I think one of them might be following us right now... I... I heard it... its voice from your r-room..." She wasn't sure, but it was better to warn Anna in case her enemies decided to act.

Crypt Keepers [Kouri, Mirage]

A chill had settled over the Quarters and Kouri's warning only made it seem so much more ominous. Someone was following them now? Fantastic, if it was Daren she was likely very, very petched. So Anna kept moving in the direction of the Palsa Hydrasa, her sanctuary in this situation as far as she was concerned. She noted Kouri allowing herself to be tugged along, an involuntary shudder creeping down her spine from the close proximity to the powerful ghost. Hopefully the whole getting used to her would take quickly enough, it seemed mildly insulting that a simple thing like a hug could create feelings of revulsion.

"I see. If that's the case we should definitely be going to the Palsa Hydrasa, we'll be relatively safe there. If who I think is chasing us is then fighting will do very little good." Anna offered as she set off down another corridor, mentally cursing Sahova for its maze like layout.

The wizard was silent for a beat, focusing entirely on their path and how to navigate the corridors leading up to the Palsa Hydrasa. Her grey eyes were a bit more calm now, some of the common sense returning and replacing the sheer primal fear. She needed to think rationally about this whole situation, especially considering that she had lost her lifeline. Her documents were gone, those documents held quite a bit of information about her and how she was going about solving the Daren problem. She had plans, information, even some keystone memories written down on them. Whoever had taken them had exactly what they needed to move against her, and she had no idea how to fight back.

It then stood that she needed to record her thoughts again, this time in a place not so easily stolen from her. Hiding more notes, but in a spot outside the Citadel itself seemed like a credible option. However if they had found the notes underneath the floor of her room, they might very well think to look outside as well. Her gaze subtly flicked to Kouri as they continued to set a brisk pace to the Palsa Hydrasa, the light in them calculating.

What about trusting the knowledge to another person entirely? It was rather risky to be certain, but her notes had only made passing mention to the ghost. Amaryllis was compromised and Anna was not stupid enough to place her trust in the Embalmer, indeed there were few if any she really trusted. Kouri though, she wasn't likely to be made a target by the information on the notes. Of course, this little possibility meant having to share basically everything with the child. Naturally that made it a very risky proposition, trusting another with such valuable information. Yet Anna did not cast the idea away out of hand, if she could gauge Kouri's reaction to a couple of things then it was possible. Of course, this also meant that the child would gain a fair deal of power over her. It was damn risky but what else did she really have to lose?

Anna shook her head, noting that the large ornate doors of the Palsa Hydrasa were now in view. Thus far her path had not been impeded, which very much worried the apprentice. This all seemed a little too easy, but at the moment Anna was willing to chalk it up to good fortune. After the events occurring in the past couple of weeks Anna figured she was due a turn of good fortune.

The tall woman halted just outside of the doors that led to the domain of Amaryllis, turning to face the ghost child. Her gaze flicked around, making certain they were alone.

"Alright, I promised to share the truth with you so I will honor that. To put it rather bluntly, Kouri, I'm being stalked by a rather powerful Hypnotist by the name of Daren Marlow. Hypnotists are wizards with capabilities of altering one's thoughts and emotions, primarily for manipulation. Daren is a special example in that he possesses the ability to alter memories." The wizard explained at length.

"Amaryllis learned of my situation and offered me assistance for a price, a single favor in exchange for knowledge of how to combat the hypnotist's power. Naturally I accepted, convincing her to also take me on as an apprentice. Using these techniques I was able to keep written notes which took the place of memories Daren might take." She continued, pausing for a moment before moving on.

"Tonight I returned to my room to find the notes stolen, by someone unknown to me. Naturally Daren is a prime suspect, but it could very well be an unseen opponent I've made. So that's why we are here, I need to warn Amaryllis of this development and decide what move to make now." She finished, regarding the ghost with a slightly sad smile.

"For what its worth, I apologize for dragging you into my mess. I appreciate your assistance though, Kouri, truly." The woman said, meaning every word.

She waited a beat in case Kouri had a reply and to let the situation sink in for her, before turning and pushing on the doors to the Pre-Valterrian wonder known as the Palsa Hydrasa. Anna looked back to the ghost, her expression serious once more.

"Shut the door behind us." She instructed.

That said, she hurried towards the Nuit's office, her voice raised ever so slightly and the tinges of the earlier fear returning.

"Amaryllis, we have a problem! Someone knows!" She called out.

The journey to the Palsa was filled with awkward silence, forced upon them by the tense situation, like most other little girls, Kouri had fear of the unknown. Her being a powerful spirit was irrelevant, she couldn't defeat something she had absolutely no clue of, what if this being had power the equivalent of a Master Spiritist? She would kiss the dust... literally. Was this the malevolent spirits Wanda warned her about? They targeted both living and dead, Kouri couldn't face them alone, she just knew it. Clinging herself to Anna was the best course of action for now... and for the future.

Kouri's crimson eyes darted left and right, she would make sure no one was following them... at least to the best of her abilities. So far so good, either the being was really good to escape her notice or it didn't follow them. Kouri hoped it was the latter, her materialized right hand kept grasping Anna's clothes.

Miraculously, they arrived safe and sound, the beautiful door of the Palsa standing before them. Anna stopped though and Kouri would have none of that "Eh? Why are we stopping? Let's go! Let's go!" She urged the sorceress, her high-pitched voice not bothering to hide her worry and fear. When Anna voiced what was inside her mind, Kouri diverted some of her attention to the wizard, while the rest still focusing on the lookout.

"Oh, I see I see then we should just kill him!" Simple, right? If this Darlen was giving Anna a hard time then delivering him to Dira would be the right thing to do, Kouri would gladly help the wizard by bringing the full force of Morwen's embrace upon him. "A... h-h-... hyp..." She faltered at the mention of that ghastly power reserved for manipulators and tricksters. Kouri didn't have a good experience with hypnotists. One of them was actually responsible for waking the little monster within her.

"Kill him... kill him now! Kill him kill him kill him kill him kill him kill him kill him!" She closed her eyes and shook her head repeatedly, she didn't want to face another one, not while they still breath. Even worse, this Daren was obviously far, far, more powerful than Maduro.

"Uuuh... uuun..." She suddenly glomped Anna and hugged her tight, her form trembling, her freezing misty breath brushing on Anna's neck. The powerful ghost was regressed to a quivering girl, she couldn't make a verbal response to Amaryllis also indebting the sorceress, she merely nodded.

Anna spoke for too long, they needed to see Ama now! Kouri heaved herself and her form wrapped around the tall woman, shifting until she was piggy-backing her. "Uuun... I-it's okay! It's okay! l-let's go... Let's go! Go now!" Her panic caused her to forgot translating her native Vani to Common.

Fortunately, the wizard finally moved and they entered the Palsa. Kouri extended two thick tendrils and they pulled the door to a close at Anna's request. She kept clinging on the woman, letting Anna fully handle the situation.

Crypt Keepers [Kouri, Mirage]

Amaryllis sat as she often did in her office, papers strewn about the desk, quill in hand checking off various forms and papers. When Annalisa and Fubuki charged in the Embalmer did not so much as bat an eyelash. She raised a hand, signaling both of them to be silent a moment while she finished reading a line, and then she would set the papers aside and place her quill in the ink well. Then, folding her hands gracefully in her lap she would smile as she always did, "Ah Annalisa, and Kouri as well? How unexpected. I trust you are both well?"

Her smile was an amused one as she said, "Of course he knows. It was only a matter of time before he made his move to steal your papers. This is just as we expected." If Annalisa seemed confused Amaryllis would laugh, covering her lips with one hand as she pulled out a sealed letter from one drawer, holding it up for both Anna and Kouri to see the name "Annalisa Marin" written in Anna's own hand in the front.

Setting the letter on the desk the nuit would slide it to her apprentice, gesturing it at it her smile never fading,
"Here, this letter you left to me for the time when you were found out. Read it, and then we can discuss what we must do now."

The letter was written on simple parchment, apparently some scrap sheet off of Amaryllis' own desk. Opening it Anna would see words scribbled in her own hand, and in the top left corner the symbol of a half closed eye. If Anna touched this glyph she would suddenly get a flash of a memory she did not recognize. She would see herself sitting right before Amaryllis, writing on the very parchment she now held in her hands. The vision would be short, and quickly fade but not completely.

Amaryllis would wave a hand, not answering questions until Anna had read the letter.

To Myself,

We miscalculated, or made a mistake rather... It could be a fatal mistake, but Amaryllis thinks it might work in our favor. Every day we would look for the notes beneath the stone, but we always forgot to modify that memory so that the location would remain hidden. I am certain Daren knows of our hiding spot now, and if you are reading this then he has found it.

I've modified my notes so that they do not include any of the information I will put in this letter. We learned something about Daren, something very important. Something that could spell his end. It's so simple, yet so complicated at the same time. I can't say everything in this one letter for fear of what might happen if Daren gets his hands on this... or if Amaryllis betrays us. I've not shared my thoughts with her, or my current revelations. I don't trust her. She is plotting something, something that I think might be even bigger than the danger we are in now. I'm not sure what it is, and I don't think she wants our death. I think just as I am sure I am thinking as I read this letter that we are a tool for some grande scheme of hers. That we can think about later though.

I discovered something during the last few days. Daren and I have spent a lot of time together, most of that time I doubt I remember. Anyway I found out some things that will help us. I've hidden this information away so that only I will be able to find it. I just pray that I am in time...

Crypt Keepers [Kouri, Mirage]

Anna had noted Kouri's apparent instability before, though it had really shined through when she had chanted the words 'kill him' over and over again. She suspected that something dark was underneath the surface of the ghost's mind, perhaps something to nourish and let grow. It was a musing for another time, she was still very much irritated by the position Kouri had adopted. The apprentice allowed her to stay there without comment though, if the child needed comfort than the woman would allow her comfort.

She quickly burst into her mistress' office, Amaryllis looking over some document or another as per the norm. The apprentice was about to speak again, but was halted by the upraised hand as the Embalmer placed the finishing touches on whatever she was working on. Anna struggled to try and keep calm herself, though considering the situation she was having some understandable difficulties.

The Chaon felt her eye visibly twitch as the peacock clad Nuit inquired to the health of both her and Kouri. She barely kept a sarcastic reply along the lines of 'Well I'm a soon to be dead woman and my companion is already there, how about you mistress?' from escaping her lips. Tempting though it would have been she couldn't afford to alienate the Embalmer just yet.

Anna's mind ground to a halt at Amaryllis words, that this had been expected. Her expression must have looked all too comical for the Embalmer had laughed in the haughty way only she could and produced a letter with her own name upon it. It was written in her own hand. Anna looked at Amaryllis warily, taking the letter and moving to sit across from the Nuit. First she regarded Kouri, her expression not unkind and her tone more gentle.

"I'm sorry to ask this of you, Kouri, but would you mind terribly detaching yourself from my back? I'd like to sit, feel free to hold onto another part of me if you need to. I'm here for you, my dear child. If any one tries to harm you, I'll end them as sure as Syna's light falls upon the world." Anna assured the ghostly child.

If the ghost did as asked Anna would sit down and open the letter, allow this ghost view of it if she wished. There was little point in keeping this secret from the ghost, she was unfortunately involved now as well for better or worse. Anna touched the glyph that resembled the symbol on Daren's ring, the symbol of a hypnotist. A vision flashed through her mind, of herself writing the paper in this very office.

Anna raised and eyebrow at the Embalmer, reading the rest of the letter as prompted. Her grey eyes carefully scanned every word for traces that might indicate a forgery. She couldn't find any but she was still very cautious about the whole thing, wary of tricks. Anna thought back, did she forget to modify the memory truly? As far as she remembered she modified it at night, when she finished recording the information. Perhaps that had not been enough though, perhaps Daren had caught her outside of that time and asked the right questions.

Still it appeared not all was lost, she still had a lifeline apparently and it looked like other her had been rather intelligent about this whole thing. Anna allowed herself a feeling of approval at how the situation was handled, good, she'd had enough sense not to trust the Embalmer. Amaryllis' full angle had always been something she'd been suspicious of, something very dangerous if it was indeed much larger than this situation. The favor owed to her was certainly part of what worried her, but it went deeper than that. The Embalmer always seemed to be plotting something, telling her things but at the same time managing to keep her own political agenda secret. Anna shook that from her mind for a moment, returning back to the point of the letter Daren and this thing learned about him.

Anna indeed had no recollection of much time spent with the hypnotist, which frightened her to some degree. She tried not to think about what might have occurred when she'd been helpless to the hypnotist, she doubted she'd want to know. Her eyes found the riddle near the bottom at the note. It spoke of voices, though Anna wondered what voices. As far as she knew she wasn't completely crazed like Maelstrom or Daren, manipulative, chaotic, and domineering certainly but not raving mad.

She regarded Amaryllis, her expression thoughtful as she was a little more calm now.

"Where fire meets earth, where water finds wind. That is where the sanctuary begins? Apparently my old self had a thing for riddles I can't appreciate. Something to do with reimancy perhaps... though where or what I'm not sure."Anna said, sighing slightly.

"Regardless, it seems as though we have something to go on which is more than we had a minute ago. Ideas? Thoughts?" She said, looking to both of the other occupants.

Kouri was unlikely to have anything to really contribute but at this point she was the closest being here she could actually halfway trust. Amaryllis wanted Daren removed and she had a sharp mind, honed from centuries of involvement in Citadel politics. Then there was her, the backstabbing Chaon with few morals to slow her down. Between the three of them hopefully a solution could be found to this little problem. Preferably before Daren decided to try and wipe all their minds.

Crypt Keepers [Kouri, Mirage]

"Uh... uuuuh~" Kouri didn't pay any real attention to the adults' conversation, she merely gave a trembling nod to regard Amaryllis, her large eyes still on the lookout for the dreaded Hypnotist... and malevolent spirits. Her current state of mind couldn't comprehend words enough to be offended at Ama's out-of-place question on their health. She didn't care about anything, except the cold dead body of a mysterious hypnotist she just knew by name.

"Uh.. o-o-o... okay... okay!" The ghost girl floated down from Anna's body, she then left the women to their business. "Eh.. eh.. ah.. uuh..." Her restlessness only grew with each passing moment, she didn't cling to Anna anymore, she wandered around Ama's office instead, her eyes darting all over the place as if a monster could spring up at any moment. Her white locks lashed the air like living snakes, guarding their owner.

"Where are you..."

"Where..."

"Where..."

Ominous echoing whispers in Vani surrounded the ghost girl even though Kouri's lips didn't make any motion that resembled speaking. What the women did perplexed her, how could they just sit around while a monster was stalking them? She knew the owner of that whisper from Anna's room followed them, it must be! It told them to run, for what else? Chase and toy with them of course. No, she would not let herself be played like this. She was a phantom, with enough power to wield multiple dagger-chakrams, with freezing touch of death, and reputation to drive the nobles of Syliras placing a bounty on her.

"Grrrr... he... grrrr..."

Her high-pitched childish growl contrasted greatly with the power she wielded, Kouri's large crimson eyes narrowed to slits like a Dhani, she vanished and appeared beside the two women, ready to lash out at anything not resembling Ama or Anna, safeguarding them.

"...." Being angry actually returned some of her mental faculty. The Vantha little girl tilted her head at the cryptic words Anna spoke. "Ehn..." She peeked at the letter Anna was holding. The paragraphs about Anna's distrust to the master embalmer widened her eyes, Kouri suddenly became defensive... to Ama.

"O-oh hey! That's bad! Madame Amaryllis gave Kriem a new body, she's good! U... uuhn..." Kouri was in a dilemma, the embalmer nuit was sly that was for sure, but Kouri was indebted to her; without her, Kriem would die. Her childish mind couldn't comprehend that Ama might be hiding something, all that she knew was Ama demanded a favor from her for helping Kriem, to her mind, that was normal. The ghost girl switched her position to Amaryllis' right and and hugged her right arm with both of her materialized hands.

"I think... I think our enemy is that evil man! Yeah! Let's kill him! Find him and kill him!" It was such a simple thing, why did these adults make it so complicated? As for Anna's riddle, Kouri absolutely had no idea what it meant. Fire meets earth? Burning ground? Water meets wind? Eh... uhm... waves? "Huh?" She decided to chime in and voiced her thoughts on the matter

"Did you hide your 'sanctuary' on a burning ground near a beach?" A ridiculous answer, but she was a powerful ghost with the mind of slightly air-headed twelve years old little girl scarred by numerous horrible events.
