Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

TIMESTAMP;; 20TH OF FALL, 513AV

Arisssa found herself nervous while walking into the Labour Aid office. She felt...not out of place, that didn;t sound right..she just felt...scared. Yes, Scared. She walked up to the young Akalak man behind the desk, he had s a rather attreactive face and eyes, but not her type. The bnameplate said Malin or Maxx and he smelled faintly of...something. Arisssa smacked her lips, whatever the scent was, it smelt delicious.
"May i help you missie?" the young Akalak suddenly asked, surprising Arisssa. Arisssa jumped, smiling at the man shly. She nodded, clearing her throat, she didn't want to sound childish, no she couldn't.
"Yes, I am in need of a job, a residence and Citezenship," she said, rather loudly and assertive. "Please." she added, Just for good measure. The man smiled, and bent to look at the desk near him, when he looked up he handed Arisssa three silps of paper, a pen and a clipboard. "Fill these out and we'll see what we can do." he said kindly. Arisssa nodded, and slipped gently to the floor, criss crossing her legs. She prefered being comfartable than looking proffesional.
She bit her lip, the first slip of paper was easy enough.
Name: Arisssa
Race:Kelvic
Age: 2 springs(I am about 17 in cat years)
Competency In: Hunting
Employment: TBA
Expected Stay In Riverfall: At least a few seasons

Looking at the next one, Arisssa sighed, oh geez she had to think. She wasn't much help except for hunting, but even then things went wrong. But she has spent a summer or two helping babysit a new mothers tots, maybe that count as something, even if she di want to tear them to peices when they "demanded' she shift, they pulled on her tail or *shiver* her hair.
Name:Arisssa
Race:Kelvic
Age:2(consider me 17)
Relevant Skills: Hunting, tot-sitting
Preferred Employment: Anything Doable(for the most part I don"t complain)
Expected Stay In Riverfall: At least a few seasons or more

Then came the last one, Arisssa grinned,So far this waas easy, this information has come easily, but the results, now THAT made Arisssa worried. Bitting the pen, Arisssa read over both sheets again, then with a sigh at the citezen ship paper she was reluctant to get up at the though of having something permanent on her skin-while human and a panther, kinda made her nerves bounce up and down and smash against everything.

Arisssa sighed, stood up and handed the slip to the man who read it over carefully and slowly and waited. She was good at waiting.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Starling Frost on October 26th, 2013, 4:20 am

First day of fall, 513

Starling had spent much of the morning wandering about the city of Riverfall, eyes wide and round, being lost and generally impressed with the sights. She came at last to the Citizenship and labor aide office, more by chance than by aim, and decided she ought to go in and see about a job. Having obtained the forms, she made her serious face as she read them. There didn't seem to be a lot to the process.

Kuvan Citizenship Form

Starling was not sure what a Kuvan was but decided that she might as well fill it out. Someone was bound to explain.

Name: Starling Frost
Race: Human, of the Vantha sort.
Age: 11
Competency In: I am a fine talker. Talking is better than wacking about with swords.
Employment: I came here to find some!
Expected Stay In Riverfall: Hopefully forever and ever.

Labor Assistance Form:

Name: Starling Frost
Race: Human, Vantha
Age:11
Relevant Skills: I should like to be an actress. I can do fine voices and accents already, and never forget my lines. Still, I am willing to apprentice.
Preferred Employment: Acting
Expected Stay In Riverfall: For ever and ever, and many curtain calls!

Housing Form:

Name: Starling Frost
Race: Human, Vantha
Age: 11
Type Of Building Looking For: Well gosh, I don't expect to get a whole building! Mostly all I need is a bed and such.

Expected Stay In Riverfall: Forever and ever.

Starling wrote carefully, with a neat rounded hand, blowing on the ink to make sure of dryness before turning the forms in.

Yulio:

Malin saw Charoda often enough that another one in the office wasn't that much of an oddity. He watched discreetly as she filled in her forms, as was his usual practice, and took them back politely when she was finished.

Starting with the housing form, he sighed in a very put-upon manner and began pointedly copying over the information she'd neglected. In a very clipped voice, he spoke as he wrote. "There are several options for Charoda-friendly housing in the city. What I would recommend for you would be either a cottage close to the river, or a room at the Blue Gem. Both cost the same, though you may find the Blue Gem a more social environment." With a final sweep of the pen, he set the form aside to be filed. "And I can guarantee neither are a 'dump'."

Moving onto the employment form, he was relieved to find it fully filled out. He knew right away where to send someone skilled in coral manipulation. "The Menagerie Aquarium is always looking for a steady hand to keep up the coral. You may wish to speak to Nyael Atuin, she's a relatively new hire up there as well. Aquaculturists make 4gm a day. What do you say?"

Ilax:

"Welcome, brother." Malix greeted warmly as a fellow Akalak moved through the doors. He looked uncomfortable, which wasn't uncommon, so Malix left him alone as he completed his forms.

"Ah, competency! Congratulations," He smiled up at the man cheerily. "You'll need to see Ismail over at the Tuvya Sasaran to test your skill in the Lakan, and assuming you pass, head on over to Riverfall Ink for your Kuvan mark. Good luck!"

Caught up in the pleasantries, his face froze awkwardly as he looked on the employment sheet and saw 'larceny'. Praying the young man was a former thief, Malix cleared his throat as he looked up. "Ah, yes. There's several job openings available for someone with your skills... but perhaps something in the protection line of work. The Blue Bull is in need of a new bouncer, and someone with good skill in unarmed combat would fit the bill." Passing the pamphlet for employment over the desk, Malix grabbed the young Akalak's hand as he reached for it. "Keep your hands in your own pocket there, boy. Get caught with sticky fingers by that lot, and you're liable to end up with a few of them broken."

Releasing the hand, Malix returned to his sunny demeanor. "Bouncers make decent mizas, 5gm a day. What do you say?"

OOCFeel free to solo out both the competency test and the tattooing.

Alister:

Malin frowned slightly as the young man returned the Kuvan form, clearly not understanding its intent. Putting it below the desk, not wanting to throw it away right in front of the man, he cleared his throat delicately. "The competency form is for competency with a weapon. In order to become a citizen of this city, you must acquire and test for competency in either unarmed combat or a weapon."

Moving onto the housing form, he pulled out multiple pamphlets. "Any place in the city will allow you a window, so it depends on where you'd like to go. Kuahala Estates have openings, as well as Atri's Place, and Windswept Condos. You can also always buy a separate cottage. As a kelvic though, you may want to find your, ahem..." He searched for the tactful word. "Bondmate, so you have someone to keep you."

Putting the form aside to be filed, he moved onto the employment form. "Trader scout, hm?" He hummed thoughtfully, mentally running through his job openings. A kelvic bird with skill in hunting. Hadn't he just placed someone like that? "No openings for trader scout, though if you've got a keen hunting eye, the Warrens could use more hunters to keep vermin out. We sent another kelvic up there not too long ago, Rinya, you may want to talk to her to help get settled. You'd make about 5gm a day up there. What do you say?"

Arisssa:

Receiving the forms back, Malin looked over the competency form and frowned. "I'm sorry, you must be competent in a weapon, or unarmed combat to qualify for Kuvan status."

The employment form was more promising, and he turned to flip through his employment pamphlets. There were no requests for babysitters, but he knew where to send hunters. "The Warren is always looking for help in keeping the vermin population down. There's a couple other Kelvics up there now, Rinya and Alister. Guards make about 5gm a day. What do you say?"

Starling:

Malix sighed deeply as he took back the forms from the little girl. Children were not his forte, preferring to work with adults. He looked over the citizenship form with pursed lips. "Yea... To apply for Kuvan status, you need to be competent in either a weapon or unarmed combat. It's required for all formal citizens of the city."

He wondered where the girl's parents were. Had they sent her in here on this little mission? Housing was next, and he pulled out his usual set of forms. Perhaps she was looking for housing for her family? "To live, you can buy a cottage in the city, or live in one of the housing developments. Kuahala Estates is nice, and Atri's Place has a few rooms open, and Windswept Condos is always popular. Nia's Boarding House is also popular with young...ladies, though it's a bit small."

Looking over the employment form, he felt mildly impressed with the young girl. Even Akalak children were typically still in school at her age, though he had to assume her parents were taking care of her education. "If you've got the skills, you can try out at the Amphitheatre for an acting position. It's 4gm a day. There's quite a few new people up there lately, and you may want to talk to them if you want to join their little community. There's Jorin, Krima, and Alia. What do you say?"

Starling was not particularly dismayed at being denied on the Kuvan form. Although the form didn't specify a fighting skill, talk on the street had hinted strongly in that direction.

"I see," she said. "Well then I'd better not do that right now, I'm not truly as fierce as I look. Supposing that I wanted to learn to fight, is there a school to teach me how? And will I have to do ENDLESS push-ups?"

The housing stuff seemed more promising, and she took in the information with one raised eyebrow.

"DO you sell houses to girls of my age? Not that I have acres of money to buy a house anyway. I believe that I will try Nia's boarding house and shan't mind the size at all, what with me not be especially huge."

A boarding house seemed just the sort of place for her. It would be sort of like having a mommy without all the bothersome trouble of actually having one. News of the Amphitheater was very pleasant to hear. She had not seen a theater in her roamings, and was afraid that there wouldn't be one.

"Do you know, I believe I will do just that! I am mostly a storyteller, what with being Vantha and true to the blood, but I am not a bad actress and perhaps I will be of use. Thank you so much for all your help!"

Yulio hugged her seaweed bag close, nervous about what her would say. She hoped he liked her writing. She thought she had done an excellent job. She listened carefully when he spoke and blushed when he said neither was a dump.

"S-Sorry...i think I put the wrong thing down. I'm sure all the places you have are lovely." she said with a small smile. She then considered her options. She had read about the Blue Gem in the scroll guide thing she had gotten. It seemed like a very nice place. But it was too close to home. Afterall she had left the ocean to experience the land. She certainly planned to be on it as long as possible.

"I'll stay in the cottage...please. It sounds nice. Does it have a good view? I would love a good view of the river to wake up to." she said. She hoped that was alright.

Then came the job. Yulio frowned when he offered her a water related job. She didn't want that. She wanted a land walker job. She knew she could grow coral and keep it healthy. But she wanted to learn something else.

"That...umm….sounds nice. Good pay...i think...i have a bad grasp of money. But...i want something that will teach me what you land walkers do...like...could I grow land seaweed? Or land coral? Do you have land coral? Or maybe I could make something. What do land walkers make with stuff from the land? I want to learn. I want to know these things...is there a job where I could do that?" she asked nicely. She hoped she hadn't offended him by not accepting the job.

5th if Fall 513 AV

Having waited her turn Selena approached the desk with careful steps. "I'd like all three forms." She requested in the most polite voice she could muster. She was tired and really just wanted to be able to lay down and sleep for the next few days. [Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Davus on November 8th, 2013, 11:22 pm

Timestamp : 40th of Fall, AV 513

Davus groaned as he approached the building that stood before him, Labour Aid Office, even the words make his muscles feel tired and his bone ache. He was only here for one reason, the money was starting to dry up, he wasn't work shy but the nine till five was hardly a concept most Svefra were used to, life in the sea was all about being self sufficient and even when he did find his boots on dry land he normally either had enough money saved up or managed to stumble across fund in a completely "legal" way, but alas in this fine city the guards were too good and very expensive to bribe. But with only thirty days left of fall he needed to earn some quick cash before he moved out of this city, hopefully for good.

The office was surprisingly cool as he walked through the door, the smell of oppression and parchment hung in the air as he stepped further into the bowels of building. He leant casually against the counter, chewing his nails as he was served by a Akalak.

"I need work" He said bluntly as form was slided across the counter, Davus took one look at it and sighed, another reminder of his illiteracy in this city where apparently everyone seemed to be able to read "I can't read or write, you are goin' to have to help me" He ordered as the administrator calmly asked him for his details.

5, Fall, 513 AV

Edward came into the labor office fairly late in the afternoon, actually hoping that he would have missed them. However the building was still open, which meant he would have to go in and apply. He hadn't much fancied getting a job, not many actually suited his personality, he didn't much like having someone tell him when and where to be doing exactly what.

He entered the office nonetheless, and filled out one of those little cards for employment, handing it back immediately once it was finished.

15, Fall, 513 AV

Teresa pushed open the the heavy door to the labour aid office in the early morning bells still popping her joints in a pre-dawn stretch as she strolled toward the desk. She figured getting a jump on this would be important, having a narrow skill set meant she needed to be first in line for any job openings or she wouldn’t be eating for much longer. And she was already in trouble as it is.
When with a pod or in the Flotilla you simply trade what you don’t need for something that you do, and if you don’t have something you borrow someone else's. But she is no longer with her pod, and now the all powerful Miza must be appeased. And funds are in the dire stages of low.

Quickly taking a form from the desk and filling it out she handed it back to the Akalak with a tired smile.

“Mornin’, I’m looking for work.”
