AppearanceRace: Akalak
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Birthday: 25 Summer 479
Birthplace: Riverfall
Appearance: Milartek stands 6.5ft tall, on the small side for an akalak, and weighs nearly 250 pounds. His form is toned and athletic showing that he has worked and trained hard his whole life. His hair is dark black, finishing just above his shoulders, but cut so that it does not bother his eyes. He has prominent cheek bones and a straight nose which, coupled with the fact he rarely smiles, gives him a rather statuesque look. His deep midnight blue skin compliments his pale blue eyes and gives his eyes the illusion frostiness.
Character ConceptMilartek is a typical Akalak who loves to push himself in order to achieve perfection. He enjoys the heat of battle and any physical challenge that is put to him, enjoying pitting himself against foes of equal or better ability. He trains everyday and has a set routine that he strictly follows.
Milartek is on the whole a kind compassionate soul who tries to do what he feels is the right thing. This does not mean that he will help anyone however, no. He will only help those he feels deserving of his time, or those that are willing to pay enough gold. However there are some things he will not do for monetary gain.
Artek on the other hand is not compassionate and is purely controlled by his base emotions. He will do things only if the benefit himself, whether monetary or just amusement. Where Milartek will think and plan before doing Artek will do now think later. This means that in some situations Arteks quick thinking and aggressive attitude are a merit and have saved his life more than once. However in other situations they are a more than just a hindrance.
As a result of his father Milartek seeks to suppress his darker side, which calls itself Artek, and as a result he is in a state of unbalance and in especially stressful or emotional circumstances he struggles to gain control.
Both the Light and Dark brothers are devotes of Wysar.
Character HistoryMilartek was born to a human mother, Milia, and his father, Artekan. Unfortunately his mother died shortly after his birth and his father raised him as best he could. He lived with his father until his tenth birthday, ten years that were not all wonderful. His father suffered terrible at the loss of his mother, even the joys of having a child could not console him, and he frequently found himself more and more controlled by the dark brother. This led to him frequently relenting to volatile outbursts and pushing the young Akalak to hard for his years.
Eventually, after many years on the watch list Artekan was deemed to have given himself over to the dark brother in his grief, and as such marked a Cerulean. But by this point it was to late, and claiming to seek a foe worthy of his Lakan and his life, he left Riverfall and his only son in the care of his brother Bruntil.
Milartek never spoke much about his father, although he loved him dearly he knew that he was beyond help and he hoped the one day Waysar would guide him back onto the right path.
Bruntil was a seasoned warrior and trained Milartek hard establishing a daily routine of training both body and mind. Under his guidance Milartek was able to complete his rite of trial, returning triumphant and proud.
At 16 Milarteks dark brother revealed himself and so started the everlasting battle for control. Milarteks experience with his father left him adamant that he would suppress the dark brother, who unsurprisingly called itself Artek, and struggled against his uncles wise words to live in equal harmony with both, and it was thanks to him and his wife that Artek learned some control over his darker side.
Bruntil re-enforced Milartek's belief in Wysar and taught him that control and discipline were an essential part of life and an essential part to living harmoniously with his 2 personalities.
At the age of 30 he completed his right of passage and gained his Laken, coming back a different and stronger being with greater control over his 2 personalities, although he would not and will not talk about what happened.
Over the next couple of years he carried on training, but became restless when his uncle started talking bout finding a wife. It wasn't that he did not want children, but more that he did not want to end up the same way as his father. He believed that he did not have the control he needed over both personalities. In the end he and his uncle came to the agreement that Milartek would travel as a mercenary, exploring the world and learning to control himself better. However on his 40th birthday he would return to Riverfall and seek a wife.
That spring Milartek left Riverfall in the company of ta trade caravan heading for Syliras.
