Rockin Out The Mountain

Postby Turrin on October 22nd, 2013, 2:40 am

Waiting by the door, Turrin turned his head slightly when he thought that he saw something by the wall, but when he looked over, he saw nothing and muttered to himself, “I must be seeing things...” Suddenly the door opened, and the half-Myrian could only stare at the beautiful Endal Alori standing in front of him for a few ticks. Turrin knew that he should compliment her on her outfit, but he couldn't muster the right words, so he said with a warm smile, “Thank you for inviting me, Alori, and congratulations on joining the Endal ranks. Aponivi and I are delighted to hear that Durveth bonded with you, and I am sure you and her will do great things for Wind Reach in the future.” Turrin paused for a moment and tried to think of a compliment, “By the way, Alori, you look quite stunning tonight in that outfit tonight. ”

When the Alori gave him permission to enter her home, he gave her another smile as he walked through the door. The young Endal seemed to inherit one of the more luxurious aeries in Wind Reach. Turrin heard rumors that the Stone Crest Gallery was once own by a rich Endal who spent many nights in arms of many artisans. He wondered if the artisans had a hand in designing the aesthetic appeal of the aeries. The Endal look up and the ceiling designs in the plaster and said to Alori with a laugh, “After seeing your aeries, Alori. I might need to talk to the Valintar to see if I can get a upgrade to a new home.” Turrin's knew his aeries was just about as splendid as her's aeries, but he was starting to get ideas to make his home more inviting to other people. In actually, he hasn't done much of anything with his aeries since his mother and sister died a few years back. In honesty, he tried to avoid it since the memories of them still haunt him today. Walking farther into the room, the Turrin turned to Alori and asked with a polite grin, “I would like to congratulate, Durveth in person. Could you show or direct me to her when you get the chance?”

Deciding to keep his compliment simple, the large man entered the aeries and his golden eyes immediately went to the first person that he recognized, Azria. The Avora was dressed in a simple white outfit. He didn't let his gaze linger for very long since he wasn't sure if she had anything throw-able in hand. It was better to not take chances with her since he was here to enjoy himself and not to defend himself from flying kitchen wear. He was surprised when she quietly said a hello and quickly vanished into the aeries. He sighed to himself when she vanished and turned his attention to the other newest Endal Lavira, and her male companion a Avora hunter with a notorious reputation in the Endal circles as troublemaker and bed warmer, Kovac. Turrin didn't know much of the man other than the rumors, but he heard the half-Vantha spent many nights warming the beds of a few well known female Endals in Wind Reach. In all honesty, Turrin didn't care what the Endals circles thought about the Avora because he was equally shunned by them too. The Endal smirked and and said with a small laugh, “Well.. it vary kind of you, Kovac, but I doubt you have much to worry from me. I heard you play the lute, Kovac. Will you be playing tonight?” The half-Myrian wasn't really good at small talk, so he decided to stick to keep the conversation simple for now

I was caught... Aose cringed, after realizing she was indeed spotted. Shyke. What do I do? She glanced around and then just decided to crouch lower into the crevice. It didn't take long for the yasi to realize that they either didn't care or wasn't worried about the young girl.

It was time, Aose was feeling cramped and the last of the invited guests had apparently come and gone in. Now was her time, Standing and straightening her back, stiffling the groan from her lips and then having to gently hush the black bird on her shoulder the yasi looked at the door closed to her. An unwanted guest I shall become. She smirked a bit and then paused, “How to create a distraction?” Turning an eye towards Siilark a smile creased her face.

“'Ey Siilark, dere's good corn in dere.” She pointed towards the door, “I 'ear the buggin' place is full of it.” She knew from past experience that the blasted bugger could eat like a fiend, well, she assumed that seeing as the others of his normal kind did. It drove farmers and hunters alike bonkers. It didn't take long for Aose to keep whispering the tempting words to get him all wound up with energy and squawking loudly, gift from Eywaat or otherwise, Siilark was still a bird... And birds like to eat.

Standing to one side of the door, so that when it was opened Siilark would be the only visible thing, Aose reached to it and pounded on the door. When the door got swung open from the knocking the large bird with give a cry and then take to flight into the aeries, causing all sorts of ruckus trying to find the alleged mounds of corn and bird food laying about.

When the others were preoccupied with Siilark's display of crazed searching Aose slid into the aeries and sat down on a cushion, waiting for the commotion to settle down enough to let out a twitter of laughter. All the while she was smiling as she heard Siilark pecking at any surface he could while cawing out, Aose heard the words 'food' and 'corn' repeated numerous times.

Everything was going very well and they were off to a grand start. Lavira and Azira both dressed nicely, and that was a bigger deal than it should have been. Kovac was his usual charismatic self offering compliments as well as a bit of flirt. Alori noticed that he brought his lute with him, and figured he must have planned to play for her. She smiled at the thought, knowing that she had already promised the same thing to Durveth.

Lavira had said a curious thing to her as she greeted another. A yasi was outside, and the young Endal wanted to invite her as well. It seemed odd to just invite a random yasi that she didn't know, but the teen wondered if she, like Azira was a friend of Lavira's or maybe even an apprentice. It didn't matter though, Alori was in a good mood and having another come in wouldn't bother her. With Turrin arriving next, she took the moment to peek outside to see if anyone was there. She must have been looking in a different place than Lavira had because she didn't see anything, but decided to listen out in case the yasi would knock.

Back inside with Turrin, Alori smiled at his compliments and turned slightly to the right and left to show off her attire. Turrin wasn't the average Endal, but he was still one of the nicer ones that she had met, though she didn't know a lot about him. "Thanks, it's like starting all over again, you know? And this place? Holy petch I didn't think it would be so huge." Her cheeks turned rosy as she thought about the wild stories that she had heard about the Endal who used to own the place. "Oh, I was just about to give a tour, you wanna see?"

A tour, the older Endal probably wouldn't have minded, but he was more interested in meeting Durveth. Alori paused, shocked that he would even ask. It wasn't that she didn't want him to meet her, but she wasn't sure how Durveth would act.The Wind eagle had no problem bragging about the Inartan she dropped off the mountain side, and Alori was sure that she'd show just as much honesty with anyone at the party that she didn't like....which was likely no one. "You..wanna meet Durveth? Really?" The teen stared at him wide eyed.

Suddenly there was yet another knock on the door, and she wondered who else was coming. But it wasn't a person at the door, but a large black bird that squawked at her.

Gasping, Alori stepped back as the bird took flight and entered her home. "You guys, look out!" The bird flew around before finding the area where the food was set. That's when she heard it, another squawk coming from the other side of the room. Alori turned just as snow white wings and a puff of feathers with an angry beak darted out of the other room and dived at the new bird. "Skye No!"

The cool greeting between the two men in the room almost made Vira laugh, a smile playing at the corners of her lips. Did Kovac have competition in the other Endal? Not likely. Kovac had grew up here and was a few years Turrin's senior; Turrin was tall and alien, yet bonded and had shown many leadership qualities. Still, the mans odd quirks and godly references were bizarre to most Inarta and his jokes were equally strange. But the men seemed to be behaving themselves.

Moving towards Azira, intending to chat with her about some recent trail-sightings, Vira quickly grew distracted when Turrin asked to see Durveth. Alori took it with better grace than Vira did this time as the red-head barked a laugh. "That mean ol' bird would clip your wings quicker than a snake on a rat, Turrin. Durveth is about as unpleasant as they come in regards to Wind Eagles. Just remember, the ground isn't as soft as it looks from way up here." Vira even tapped the side of her nose in emphasis. The teen was still on the mend but her improvement had taken leaps and bounds since when Kovac had re-met her that night at the Inclement last season. Everyone had known who it was that had fallen, even if they didn't know the name. She had always just been 'that cripple from the aeries' before.

Now, it was 'Lavira, the exception'. Turning back to Azira now and letting the laughter fade, she grinned at the fellow hunter. "Azira, I want you to come hunting with me again, once the weather lets up. The Lookout's reporting a doozy of a storm to hit any day now and I don't particularly want to get caught out in one again."

She was waiting for a reply when the knock came and her gaze turned that way, eyes widening when a massive raven suddenly shot through the door, squawking and kraaing about food and corn. When it swept towards her, she ducked instinctively and twisted to see it land upon something near the wall and begin digging through stuff in search of said food before it was off and flying again. It swept over others, calling out in its excitement. She didn't notice the girl that followed after it to drop into a cushion near the wall.

That was when a white arrow flashed out from somewhere and launched itself at the raven, hellbent on killing it. "Shyke, Alori, get Skye, I'll get the stray!" She called, pulling the teal sash off from around her neck and spreading it between her hands like a blanket or towel. If she could grab the raven before Skye tore it to shreds, things might be okay; but that was a big if, as she ran across the cushions towards where the birds wound up. "Hai, where'd it come from?!" How did a raven manage enough bravery to burst into an eagle aerie?

Aose realized with near dread the crazy raven's actions and Aose called out, “Git over 'ere!” The bird rustled his tail feathers in annoyance and with a deft dodge and a ruk to complete the taunt fluttered over and landed on Aose's shoulder.

“I heard he came from a god as a gift ta some fiesty lil Yasi.” Aose smirked and gently ran her finger on the bird's beak, “And I doubt the god would enjoy his kin to become a white bird's play toy, eh?” Her clothes weren't anywhere near the beauty that Vira and the others were wearing, she was after all planning on taking the day at the range instead. That did change rather quickly, birds talked and Aose heard.

“Congrats ta the new Endals. I was in one of these aeries a few years ago, invited... And then I almost got chewed on two seasons ago by a mama eagle for getting' fresh air.” She shrugged, “Nice place though.” Aose's gaze was diverted upwards to the ceiling before traveling from one side of the room to the other, “I like it.” She nodded and looked back at the adults. A smile creased her face.

“Hi ya old man.” Aose nodded to Kovac, “And Vira.” Jeez I think I crashed the wrong party... I find myself in a room containing two people that probably want nothing to do with me.

Nodding to the others, “Hi ya. Dunno ya guys though. Heh.”

Chaos had erupted in the aerie as the raptor pursued the raven in a mad flutter of wings and screeches and caws. Alori yelled and Lavira tried vainly to capture the invader. Kovac smirked in amusement of the odd situation, wondering himself how the bird managed to not only get into the aeries from inside, but how it knocked on the door. There was something going on.

As the tumult continued, the Avora headed for the door. That is when Aose slipped in. Kovac's brow drew into a deep furrow at the sight of the mischievous Yasi. He plantedhis feet and crossed his arms over his chest as she called her bird to her. The scowl continued as she flippantly address the adults.

"You rotten little shyke, I know you better, Blue Eyes. You wanted to sneak in and see what was going on, didn't you?" Aose was a brash youth, something he actually admired about the girl, though it often aggravated him when turned against him. Kovac considered snatching up the ornery girl by her hair and dragging her out, but the raven was already antsy from the incident and the hunter wanted to keep both of his eyes. Besides, it wasn't his party to boot her from. His gaze darted to Lavira and then Alori, as if waiting for the okay to haul the little redhead away.

Lavira made to move towards the Avora, causing feelings of dread and relief to war inside her. She was glad that someone was making a move to talk to her so that she wouldn't have to stand there awkwardly anymore. But she dreaded conversing with the Endal. She always felt as if the woman was being kinder to her than she deserved considering her actions. She was also anxious that her mouth would run away from her and that she'd offend her again. So when the woman paused to talk to Turrin, Azira didn't know how to feel.

Turrin apparently wanted to see Alori's eagle. This Durveth was a bit on the cranky side apparently. Best keep away from the bird, she thought, glancing at doorways as it expecting the bird to spring out of one of them. Wind Eagles hated her but if this one was on the cranky side then she'd end up splattered at the bottom of the mountain.

Lavira made a comment that confirmed her suspicion of her fate but the woman's gesture suggested that she understood exactly how that felt. Had the woman been flung or fallen off the mountain before? Surely not but she suddenly found herself wondering about her scars. She didn't have long to think about it before the teen turned to her to invite her hunting again.

"Um sure that's be great. I should be able to track better this time, I-" she began but she didn't get to continue when all hell broke loose. There was suddenly flapping and squawking as birds seemed to fill the air. It seemed like there was a swarm of them but it turned out to be two birds, one of them very angry. Alori and Lavira were yelling at each other and then a Yasi ran into their midst. The mayhem only lasted mere ticks but the huntress had no idea what had just happened.

She looked suspiciously at the Yasi and noted that Kovac didn't see happy to see her. The girl obviously knew Lavira as well as the half-Vantha but Azira had no idea how. She looked at Alori to see her reaction.

Rockin Out The Mountain

Postby Turrin on November 9th, 2013, 3:15 am

Turrin was surprised at Alori shocked reaction to his request to congratulate Durnveth. He knew nothing of the wind eagle, so he assumed she was like most wind eagles in Wind Reach, noble and proud birds. However, we the other young Endal Lavira told him that Durnveth was kind of temperamental bird. He decided that he would meet Durnveth on equal terms with himself on top of Aponivi. He gave the scared Endal a amused grin and said with a laugh, “Well I am sure that I will meet Durnveth eventually. Maybe it will be best to have Aponivi introduce me to her.” Turning to Aela, the half breed said with polite nod, “I think will take my chances on the tour instead of meeting Durnveth tonight. Maybe Aponivi and I could run some aerial maneuvers with Durnveth and you. It would be the perfect opportunity for me to meet Durnveth. Without the worry of me learning how to fly on my own.” Turrin turned his head a moment and saw Azira was trying to stay as aloof as possible in the background. He decided it was best to move away from the door.

Walking away from the door, Turrin turned his head to Kovac talking to a young female yasi. The half-Myrian walk closer to them and overheard the Avora start to scold yasi for crashing the party. He wondered if she was one of Kovac's archery students. Turrin had to admire the Avora hunter patients for dealing with yasi and head strung lower castes all day. He knew that it took a special person to set aside their own time to help someone else succeed in life. Walking closer the Endal winked at Avora and said to the Kovac, “You have to admire the girl's courage for crashing the party thrown by Endals. Is she one of your students, Kovac?”

Turrin looked at Aose for a tick and said to Kovac with a smirk, “When I was younger, I was never allowed to go to clan meeting involving the Matriarch and the adults of the clan, so one day, I decided to climb the rafters of the longhouse to listen to them speak.” He gave him a wide grin and said with a laugh, “When I got to rafters, I was so excited that our clan was planning a raid on the Dhani. When the Matriarch started to talk about thatching the longhouse for the rainy season, I feel asleep in the rafters. When I awoke, the Matriarch was furious that I interrupted her meeting with the rest of clan elders. She ordered me to skin tubers for the next week as punishment. Sorry, the yasi reminded me about my youth, so I decided to share.”

Turrin turned his attention to Aose and said crossing his arms, “My name is Turrin Aponivi of the Twisted Vine, yasi. When Alori has a free chime, I suggest you apologize for your actions and ask if you can stay.” Turrin turned his attention away from the Yasi. He decided to start a conversation up with Kovac, “I learned archery from my father, so I never got the instruction from a formal archery teacher. Honestly, I have to admire your patience since you have to deal with youth and fledgling archers all day. It not something most people can do. You should be proud of yourself, Kovac.” Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Alori walk to the door. When she opened the door a large raven flew into the room and straight towards the table with the food. Suddenly, another large falcon swooped out of nowhere straight at the raven. Chaos assumed in the aeries as Alori and Lavira tried to restrain the two birds from killing each other. Turrin would have done something, but he nothing of falconry, so he thought it would be best to do nothing and let the more experience women deal with it.

Alori called after her gyrfalcon again, but it didn't seemed that he would listen. The raven fled and returned to it's owner, but Skye wasn't done and after taking a swoop at their heads, he flew out and came back around for another try. "Skye here! Come get your food!" She called out and she raced to one of the plates on the table and picked up a tiny bit of beef to feed to him. At the word food, he was already on his way over to pluck it from her fingers, and that she couldn't have.

The teen's fingers were no match for falcon claws and she was more than tired of being scratched and cut by him. "Over here!!" Alori called as she doubled back and dropped the meat on a small table. Skye came in low, landing upon the table and causing it to rock slightly from his weight. The young Endal sighed in relief as her gyrfalcon enjoyed his beef. It really didn't take much to get his attention when food was involved. Getting another piece from the table, she dropped it by his talons just to keep him busy until she figured out what was going on.

By the time she came back into the room, everyone was standing around all looking at a young girl, who had made herself at home. She had with her the very raven that had crashed the party and almost been killed by Skye. There was a conversation going on, but Alori had missed some of what they had said. Still, the sight of the yasi brought to mind Lavira's revelation before about a yasi hiding in the wing. "Who is this? Vira is this the yasi you saw hiding?"

Alori folded her arms and took a few steps towards the girl and her troublesome bird. The girl had guts, she had to admit and sneaking into an Endal party was something she would have done herself if she had known about any. "You got a name party crasher? " she asked before glancing towards Azira, who looked as confused as she did, then to Kovac who seemed to know the girl.

"You should know, you were really close to losing your raven, Skye doesn't like other birds around." She looked to Lavira again, knowing that her sister could back her up on that part. "So.." Alori started, trying to sound serious, and as if she might be angry. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't have them throw you out?"

The bird was finally wrestled into a semblance of control, but not by anything she or Alori did. When the raven shot past her and the others to go to a spot near the wall where a small figure stood, Vira could not help looking about as irritated as Kovac. "Her name is Aose, Alori. She's one of Kovac's students from the ranges and one of the yasi I was rangled into teaching some falconry early last season. She's a real brat..."

The teen turned her eyes on Turrin, the other Endal evidently finding the moment worth sharing a funny incident from his youth. His delivery seemed somewhat stagnant and the teen was left with the impression of being lectured, not told a story. She shook her head and left the punishment to be mete by Alori and Kovac, taking note of how Turrin tried to be very diplomatic about it all. The only thing she had to say as she headed to the kitchen to look at finding some refreshments, "Make her serve drinks and clean up when the party's over. Make it her Bendi for the night."

Once in the kitchen, Vira started looking for a coldbox, wondering if Alori was lucky enough to have one in herse like she and Kovac were in theirs. "Hey Alori, what DO you have to drink anyways? Anything besides water?"
