Tudav had brought her back to that womans tent again, saying something to the seamstress about doing some shopping. Dastina was working on the same garment as before and stood to greet the woman, helping her to settle on the same stool as before.

"I am so glad to see you back, Isedan. Bensil? Fetch her her piece, hm?" The boy she had met before appeared from somewhere else in the multi-sectioned tent and waved at the Syliran, hurrying to fetch what was requested. Issy settled on the stool, her head down and her eyes on her knees. The Autumnrun family still had to force food down her throat, but today felt like a little better of a day. The weight of the pain within still bore heavy on her shoulders, bowing the tall dame when she walked and forcing her eyes downwards.

Bensil returned with the material and pressed it into her lap and hands, jabbering about something he had discovered since the last time he'd seen her. She couldn't focus on him, her eyes finding the yarn and needles once more with a heavy frown. Then, her hands took them up and she fell into the rhythym, knitting the string onto the needle in the practiced pattern she'd been shown.

The right needle went through the loop of thread on the left needle. The yarn from the ball was then wrapped behind and then over the right needle. The right needle was then brought back through the hoop of thread on the left needle before the hoop of thread on the left needle was slipped off, thus starting the next row. Once more, Issy found the movements soothing and before long, she was moving at a better pace than before, more akin to what a novice should be at, of thirty loops per chime. And with the size of the needles, her rows held a good forty five, though it was painfully obvious with the first three rows from the twenty second that they were very much a beginners first attempt at knitting.

Issy kept the pattern smoothly, not noticing when she dropped a thread and Dastina was speaking to her about it. It took nearly a chime for the woman, now crouching before her with one hand on her knee, to draw her out of her concentration enough to see what the seamstress wanted. She was smiling in understanding and saying something in Pavi, or so she thought.

"...e to show you how to fix a dropped stitch?" The woman laid her hands on Issy's and gently encouraged her to halt completely. "Now, we just take the two needles like so-" The guided her left hand to go through the dropped stitch from behind so that the loose strand between it was just behind the needle and loop. The dropped stitch was then guided onto the right needle before Dastina showed her how to move the right needle beneath the loose strand now. It was ready for transfer then! "Once you are ready, just slide the dropped stitch off like this-" she explained, moving the left needle into the dropped stitch on the right hook and gently lifting it over the tip so that it was back in proper place. "And now that that's done, just move the new mended sttich onto the left needle."

Issy tried to follow the instructions but it was clear by her hollow continuation from where she'd left off after the stitch had been fixed that she had no mind for it just yet. She simply wanted to through the task and lose herself in the flow of the needle, if only to forget her agonized heart.

Dastina squeezed her shoulder at this point and left her there, retreating to her own work station and letting the woman be. Some visitors came and went, occasionally lingering to chat but mostly getting or dropping off what they needed and moving on. And likewise, Issy moved on, slipping the needle through the left loop of thread, wrapping some around the back of the right needle, then pulling it through and slipping the left hoop off the left needle. It was redundant and easy work, allowing her the complete opportunity to just...disappear.

She thought back to better times and better days, remembering the first time she'd met Lukyc on the farms with her family. She had only been a few months old then, a kitten really with long and awkward legs that had gotten tangled in the hunters various ropes, preventing her from shifting to escape. She had chirped for what felt like hours and when the man appeared, she thought for a moment he might hurt her or worse! But he hadn't. Lukyc simply cut her free and scooped the little serval up, smiling down at her. She had Shifted then and wrapped her arms around his neck, face burying into his chest like the child she was.

It was on that day that she was certain she would spend the rest of her life with him! Perhaps it was a childs fantasy or the sense of kinship in the man that only a kelvic could feel. Whatever it was, Issy had taken him back to her parents then and they had talked for a time, discussing grown up things while the kitten played among the lettuce. It was several months before she saw him again and though he had not changed from what she could tell, Issy had matured significantly. She wasn't nearly so clumsy, and her hunters spirit had begun to grow. It took another year for either of them to recognize that he was who her heart had sought...

As she rose from these thoughts, she saw that several more rows had been completed, and for a moment the woman was fascinated by that automatic actions her hands explored. However, she did notice several more dropped stitches that needed fixing. Working her way with the needles to that point, she set about trying to repair the stitch, frowning in deep concentration. Was it under the thread and through the stitch? Or was it left needle through the thread and around the strand....Petch, she couldn't remember.

Her eyes rose to find Dastina smiling at her again and coming to her aid. Her hands guided Issy through the process once more with right needle through the dropped stitch, the thread wrapped under then over, and then pulled through the stitch before the new stitch was moved onto the left needle. "It's alright dear." Dastina said, squeezing her hand kindly. "It just takes practice."

The kelvic took her time now, moving the needles more carefully to make sure everything stayed on track. The knits were loose enough that they could be worked but tight enough to not accidentally slip off the needle tips. Out of sheer curiosity when she finished one row, the woman paused and began to carefully count the threads on the needle, mouthing them silently as she went.

Forty on the needle and she had a dozen rows. Issy smiled a little and ran her fingers over the knitwork fondly. It was so very relaxing; enough so that she wanted to continue it, but with purpose. "M...miss?" She spoke quietly. "Can you show me how to make a shawl? I...I don't have any winter clothes...since...since..." Her words trailed and she looked discouraged away. But Dastina was a kind-hearted woman and she understood completely.

She explained that Issy could give Bensil what she'd done already ahd ne could continue it for his own practice. Dastina asked if she wanted to make a simple scarf to help keep her neck warm in the winter. With as tall as the other was, she would certainly need it! "Wonderful, child. I will walk you through each step and we will knit one together, how about that?" To this, Issy smiled, glad that Tudav had brought her here. It truly was lifting her spirits little by little.
