With her confirmation, Dastina left Issy sitting on the stool for the time being to gather up some supplies into a basket from the back of the little tent-shop. When she returned, the woman had several balls of yarn of various shades of green, a pair of 5 millimeter needles, a knitting gauge made of what looked like oak or some other kind of hardwood, and a pair of gummy looking balls. "They're tip-covers for when you are done." Issy was told when she gave Dastina a questioning look.

She was given the needles and told to cast on twenty five stitches and knit four rows. The kelvic remembered the promise to be taught how to purl but thought better of asking just yet, if this would occupy her time (and her mind) then she felt better for it.

So, the woman settled in, creating the starter loop and casting on the first thread. Then, the right needle was pushed through from behind and a loop of thread added and pulled through, transfered back to the left needle afterwards. Another one, and then another one, was done like this until after some ten chimes, she had finished casting it all on. She worked slower to ensure her concentration did not wane too much. When the first row was begun, the woman thrust the tip through, looped the material over the right needle, pulled it back through and unlooped the left needle's first stitch. She did this all the way to the bottom until, a full bell later, the first part had been completed.

"Dastina? I have finished the first row."

The seamstress looked up from her own work. "Section, child." She corrected the other. "You have completed the first section, and that is wonderful." The other rose and came around the table to kneel in front of her, examining the needles and using the gauge to ensure everything was correct. "Excellent job, but you're about two threads short. That's alright, though, we can work with that."

"Now, we're going to do what I like to call a K-2-TOG and a Yo. The K2Tog means we knit two together, followed by a yo, which means we add a stitch back." Dastina took the needles from Issy and slowly knit what she was referring to. With the first two stitches on the left needle, the seamstress pushed the right needle through so that the tip was in the back. A bit of yarn was wound back to front around the right needle then before it was brought back through and the two old stitches removed from the left needle. It would, however, leave the rows short by one. Dastina explained as she slowly worked the needles, that by doing a Yo, they replaced the stitch that had been taken in the K2TOG.

The Yo was done by simply wrapping some of the yarn from back to front over the right needle. "And that is a Yo. Now you try." She said, handing the needles back and watching the normally depressed woman begin the arduous task of K2Tog and Yo for this row. "And when you reach the very last stitch, knit that one as you normally would."

Issy settled in, moving the right needle through the two stitches as shown, wrapping the yarn around the back and over, pulling the needle back through the two stitches and then sliding the two off, creating a double instead of single stitch. Then, just as shown, she added a stitch by wrapping the thread from back to front around the right needle. She continued, making mistakes frequently unfortunately, but with Dastina's gentle guidance, the row was finished within half a bell. "Excellent work, Isedan!" The woman praised, squeezing her knee in reassurance. The last stitch on the row was knit, leaving it on the right needle, at which point she switched hands and looked to the seamstress for instruction once more.

"Alright, now that that is finished, we will knit together four more rows."

Dastina left her there then to continue knitting in silence. The rhythm was hypnotic and by the time she finished the ninth row (in all) she was getting sleepy. Luckily, the seamstress came and touched her hand to relieve her. "That's enough for today, sweety. We can pick back up tomorrow. I've sent Bensil to fetch Tudav for you. Why don't you take what you were working on with you and practice in your pavilion? It will be good for you to learn on your own as well, hm?"

With that in mind, Dastina took the basket of supplies and tucked it away for when Issy would return then let the woman wait patiently for Tudav to come fetch her.

While they waited, Issy sat quietly, her hands folded in her lap and her head bowed, the kelvic's eyes following the path of a bug across the floor and trying to resist the urge to pounce on it. It was such a natural instinct that Issy wasn't certain she would managed it until that womans voice broke her from her reverie and forced her eyes to raise to meet hers.

"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you." She whispered in apology.

"That's alright, sweety, I was simply asking if you might be interested in knitting for more than you have so far. You seem to have a knack for it."

But the woman on the stool looked away pensively. "I am not sure Cotice would allow that, ma'am." Looking back to her, "He is..." But Dastina raised her hand, waving away the explanation.

"I understand. I will talk to him and convince him that you would benefit by working here. Perhaps it will bring you some peace with what it is that haunts your eyes." The woman was smiling kindly at her and to this, Issy frowned. "You are very observant, ma'am."

"Well, a mother must be watchful of her foal. Ah-" A figure entered the tent but it was not Tudav or anyone else from the Pavilion. Dastina welcomed them in and asked how she could help them, leaving Issy to think in silence for the time being.

Dastina was very nice. Issy contemplated how she might benefit (though showed no care for whether Cotice might). It was already helping distract her broken heart from Lukyc's death whenever she was here, and for that the kelvic was definitely grateful. The domestic work, however, differed from hunting and for a little while she worried over it, concerned that it might inhibit her ability once she did return to hunting. But then, when Cotice did get his child, she would have to take it easy...

Looking up finally, her grey-gold eyes met those of Dastina's and she smiled wanly. "Okay, I'll join you." And that was that!
