Outside the City Walls (Open)

16th of Summer, 510 AV

After wandering around the town, for what seemed like hours, Enalahs finally stopped outside the City walls. Tired and Bored, She pulled out her Katana and began practicing her SwordsPlay, against an invisible enemy.

The quicker she swung and sliced, The quicker her heart beat. Her hair, flowing behind her like Snow from a tree. Determination filled her eyes, as they darted around, as if watching the enemy quickly circling her.

A Noise from behind startled her. Turning, she swung her sword, hitting the City walls with a loud CLANG!

Outside the City Walls

The force of her blade aginst the wall, caused her to lose balance. Hitting the ground hard, she stared at the wall. "Syliras." She whispered as she began to ponder the events of the past few years of her short life.

She wondered if things would have been different... If He'd still be here. The more she thought about it, the more her heart broke. Broke... into thousands of pieces and scattered upon the ground. The more she tried to pick up the pieces, the more she kept getting cut.

"Never again..." She whispered to herself as she clutched the sword to her chest. "Never again will I bond..." She could feel her stomach turn at the thought of repeating what had happened... and yet... Longing. She longed to be bonded again. But she would not fall to the longing... Not now... Not ever.

Outside the City Walls

Postby Guy Laliberte on August 2nd, 2010, 2:17 am

Guy walked out of the gates in full costume, embarrassed and slightly annoyed at himself.

Idiot! 20 years of training and you still make the same mistakes over and over! Juggling so close to the outer wall, Guy had become distracting during his performance and overshot one of his oranges, causing it to fly up and away, outside of the walls. Jeez, and you needed that! One might not think a single orange was enough to cause worry over, but it was the principle of the matter. And besides, that was part of his dinner, and he was taught early in life not to waste food. Waste not, want not...

He emerges in the forest, near the wall, and hears a clank nearby. Rushing to the noise, he suddenly thought better of it, and stayed back, concealing himself in the trees. He peeks his head out, and views a frustrated woman with snow-white hair practicing with her sword. He watches her as she practices, wondering whether he should approach her, when he sees a glimpse of orange in the grass, out in the open. His orange, having been launched out of the city, landed near her, probably startling her. Thankfully, she didn't take it, though she had every right to do so. Deciding coming out in the open was best, he walked out, backpack in his arm, and said, "Don't be alarmed, I won't hurt you, I just want my fruit." Bending down to pick up the orange, he tosses it behind him, making it disappear into the back of his vest, whilst bowing to her. He straightens up, and holds out his gloved hand, black and gold silk shining in the light, to help her up.

"Guy Laliberté, at your service."

Enalahs stared at the man, watching him closely. She stood without taking his hand. "Take your fruit, I care not." She said, turning away from the street preformer, known as Guy. Her Father's words rang throughout her mind. "You must not let your heart grow cold. Hatred is only met with more hatred."

Turning back to him, she extended her hand. "Enalahs Frost." She said coldly. She had tried to be friendly. But like all the other times it failed. "Funny clothes." She said, attempting to start a conversation and stray away from her cold tone.

At first glance, Enalahs seemed cold, callous, and altogether... angry. Guy would not - no, definitely could not - let her be this way. His life's work, his grand plan, his destiny, if you will, was to bring happiness and laughter to everyone. No matter how cold they may seem, Guy knew that within every single person was a child, waiting to burst out laughing and run about.

"Funny clothes." She said. F-f-f-f-f-f-FUNNY CLOTHES? He almost screamed at her, but then thought better of it. The poor thing was obviously sad over something, and he would get to the bottom of it. However, his restraint was not so much that he could leave the matter alone.

"Funny clothes? Funny. Clothes?" He pulled his hat off, revealing short, black hair, somewhat shoddy eyebrows, and a 5-o-clock shadow. "I apologize, ma'am, for being so curt, but my clothes are anything but funny." Go easy on her, Guy, she doesn't understand your artisté. "These clothes are my life, my work, my living! To call them funny would be- would be- Well, it is unheard of!" The tone of his voice is obviously meant to be humorous, as if he is trying to be pretend grouchy and defensive. He smiles at her, hoping she understands his humor.

"Unheard of, for you, perhaps." She said eyeing him closely. "What are you suppose to be, anyway?" She asked, Honestly not knowing what he was. Where she was from... people did not dress in such a... Bold manner.

She tried to have a light tone. But, once again, she failed in that department. Her tone came out... Cold, Depressed, Sad. Every emotion she felt now and had since that night.

She sheathed her Katana, which had been in her right hand.

"Unheard of, for you, perhaps." Her voice was still cold. "What are you supposed to be, anyway?" The metaphorical nut has not yet been cracked, releasing inside the meat of its sadness, and apparently, she didn't even notice his anger was false.

"I, mi'Lady, am a humble Entertainer, a street performer of epic proportions, and no doubt, exceedingly talented, though some might think otherwise. Fools, they be, to not recognize the talent that is me~" His false bravado and blatant self-promotion and aggrandizement were all an act, focused on trying to relieve this poor, lonely soul from her depression.

"However, you see me as I see me, without my mask I am but a man, albeit strikingly handsome." He grinned. His face, although not completely abhorrent, was not as beautiful as he made it out to be, though there was some sort of ruggedness there that some might find appealing.

She raised an eyebrow. "Strikingly Handsome?" She said as she tried to hold back a laugh. "Whatever you say, Mr. Laliberte." She reached and grabbed her backpack and flung it over her shoulders. "I suppose you're good at your Job is entertainment is what you do." She said, sitting against the wall and pulling an apple from her backpack.

She took a bite as she watched him. His clothing was funny to her. His behaviour was a bit... strange as well. But she assumed all must be like this here, after all, she was new in town and didnt know the behaviour patterns that the inhabitants of Syliras had.

"May I ask you a question, Mr. Laliberte?" She asked, taking another bite from her apple.

Guy smiled inwardly, remaining with a big, foolish grin outwardly, at his success in perhaps curtailing this strangers sadness. She even went so far as to compliment him... In a way. She felt comfortable enough to had have put away her blade and start eating, which was a good sign indeed.

"May I ask you a question, Mr. Laliberte?" She said, whilst dutifully chomping at her apple.

"Of course, anything at all." He said, his toothy grin downgrading to a friendly smile. Don't want to appear too happy, Guy, or you may start looking like some sort of freak.

She took another bite and spit it out. Looking down at her apple, she noticed half a big worm. "Ew." She said tossing it away and pulling out a fresh one. She pulled her knife, from her backpack, and began to cut the apple in half, so as not to make the same, nasty mistake again.

"Where are you from? Syliras?" She asked as she took a bite from the fresh apple. This question often occured to her, when she met new people, but this was the first time she took the time to ask.
