Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Clapping his hands together, the dark green skin was coated lightly with a gray dust of crumbled mortar, Favchean tried to clear his hands of the debris out of habit. Fruitless effort, because soon he was stooping to clear more of the rubble from around the tree. Even as he does this he keeps a wary eye around him, his knowledge being so little in repair work of this nature he wished to make sure he understood what was being planned.

When the kelvic started to shuck her clothing, Favchean grunts but turns his back respectfully. Even if she was half animal, she was still female and that alone garnered his respect. When Jorin speaks to him again, he frowns, moving to stand beside the log, squatting to get a better look beneath. "I will have no trouble lifting, and even holding the weight for a small amount of time. If the log is not broken underneath, or perhaps rotted from within. That would cause trouble. I am not liking the idea of you being beneath, particularly since we can not inspect it easily."

His bass rumbles, never raising in volume or pitch, but his arms crossing over his breast gave an idea of the Akalak's discomfort at the much smaller human being beneath the log itself. However, the large green male looks around, and does not see any other recourse, for surely he would be the most likely to be able to heft it. "But I see your logic Jorin Erithan, we will pray that the log is sound inside as well as out. Once..the bird...settles the rope, I will be ready."

Pearl Repairs

Kirsi pursed her lips, seeing the other woman struggle with the chunk of masonry. Together they managed to lift the weight off the ground; once they had it in the air, Kirsi attempted to adjust her grip before moving, but it seemed Eida had other plans. The other woman immediately began moving away from the ruined wall and Kirsi stumbled after her in a rush, thankful that she was able to keep her grip on the stone. Well, maybe not much strength, but the other woman was certainly an enthusiastic helper.

"Phew. I'm glad there are only a couple more large sections to move," she said to the other woman. Curling one arm up, Kirsi patted an imaginary bulk of muscle and grinned. "Good thing you and I are here to take care of all this heavy lifting, eh?" With a wink and a slight chuckle, the Vantha turned back to the pile of rubble and headed toward another awkwardly-shaped piece.

While not as large, this one offered very little in the way of comfortable handholds; its rough edges and uneven surface would not be easy or comfortable to grasp. Kirsi cocked her head for a moment before shrugging; it seemed there was no easy way to cart this one away. They could roll it, or they could lift it and walk it off, as they had the other one. Of the options, Kirsi deemed rolling it would be slower - and silly. Lifting was the way to go, then.

Crouching down, Kirsi pushed her shoulder against the side, the bulky stone shifting upward just enough to slip her fingers underneath the edge. Hopefully Eida would be able to grasp it similarly - and quickly, as the weight of the rock was pressing Kirsi's hands uncomfortably against the pebbled ground beneath.

Pearl Repairs

Postby Dust on November 10th, 2013, 12:15 pm

oocSorry for the delay on this!

Ready, Caelum asked, and the white raven bobbed in affirmation. He held out the rope, looped into a bundle, which Dust studied for a moment before stepping up and planting her feet on the strands. Closing her claws about the rope, she launched herself into the air with a flutter of ivory-feathered wings.

The bundle of rope proved heavier than she had expected, the raven's flight initially dipping towards the ground under its weight. Dust strained for more height, the fallen bough suddenly seeming very far away. The voices of the people still below became indistinct murmurs, background noise that didn't really register in her awareness. One call cut across the rest, but she didn't stop to check whether it was meant for her.

The rope pulled towards the earth, her wings clawed for the sky, and she accumulated the deceptively few feet of height she needed at what seemed an agonizingly slow rate. Then, at long last -- in subjective terms, though by anyone else's measure it didn't take long at all -- Dust was able to drop the rope, observing with satisfaction as it plopped down on the upper reaches of the limb. The raven tucked her wings and followed after, coming to rest on the wood beside.

And there she waited, catching her breath and resting her wings, taking a curious survey of the people below. Two women were moving little pieces, while Jorin and an Akalak worked at larger things. She wasn't sure from here, with twigs and sticks and leaves all crowding her view, what exactly Caelum was up to. They didn't seem to need the rope just now, so Dust indulged herself and rested for a little while longer.

But they were going to need the rope eventually, so once she felt like the strain was passing, the raven chuffed and bestirred herself again, giving her feathers a good shake. Padding over to where the rope slumped across the bough, she studied the slipknot and the way the bundle draped. If she just pulled the knot out, the whole thing might well slide off, undoing all her hard work! Instead, the Kelvic shifted back to human, using one hand to hold the bundle in place while her other freed the end. She cast another glance towards the people below. "Is there anywhere special you guys want this tied, up here?" she asked, when one of the self-appointed directors happened to look her way.
