(7th Day of Spring, 510AV)
(Morning/10th Bell)

Daedalus was fidgety, which meant he was scampering around his apartment doing all manner of silly, reckless things in the privacy of his own home. He never could sit still when he was in the middle of contemplating theories and ideas of things to create for the day. He was happy that no one would be able to see into his home to see the position he was in currently in. His upper body laying flat out across the top of his table with his forehead neatly planted against the table top. His feet hung off the edge of the table kicking lightly into the air as if he wanted to swim through water. Daedalus began to match the flicks of his kicks with swaying arms, mimicking a swimmers breast stroke as if he was swimming. With every conceptual idea that ran through his head, they caused his sly smirk to shift into altering lines on his lips.

Daedalus could never sit still as the ideas excited him into moving around. It was as if his mind wanted the physical self to be productive in bringing the concept into reality by making him hyperactive. The ideas that filled his rapidly were all related to the World magic disciple of Animation. He remembered the first time his mother taught him the basic laws of the art when he started his apprenticeship under her tutelage during his adolescent years during his metalsmith training. Daedalus knew that he needed more experience as an animator to grow his skills to one day imparting more than simple intellect into items.

He pushed off the table to force himself to slide backward until his feet met with the ground. Once he stood up he began the slow process of replacing everything that he had set onto the ground that he had removed from the table the table back onto it. Bending down to pick up his journal, quill, ink, and artistic tools to put the back onto the table. He smiled as he slowly made a sow spin on the balls of his feet to spin in a quick smooth circle that ended with him facing his bed as he danced over to rummage through the back pack that laid on his bunk. He pulled out a single piece of white chalk to use to draw his Animation circles along the floor in the center of the room.

Daedalus entered a low crouch as he began to draw a slow circle along the smooth stone floor of his apartment. He began to repeatedly outline a large circle a meter in diameter that would act as the source-circle. It was large enough so that would it would big enough for him to sit down within it to be the source for the animation to draw information from. Once the bold circle chalk outline had be drawn he made a smaller circle that was a foot in diameter next to it. The second circle forming the destination circle where he would place the item he wanted to animate. With the two circles complete he joined them both together with a straight line that bridged them both together. Once Daedalus was finished he stood up with a smile to examine his work with a smile.

Daedalus tossed the piece of chalk over to his bed where it landed next to his backpack. The object he was going to animate was simple in design and was stored in a chest next to his apartments hearth. The basic layout of his home was simple as the entrance was at the center of the front wall. To the right from the entrance in the corner of the back wall, his hearth rested and his chest was next to it. In front of his hearth was his table and chair where he would write at night in the hearth fires light. Running horizontally parallel to the back wall from the left of the entrance was his bunk with the rest of the room practically littered with scrap pages torn from his journal that had scribbled ideas for metalsmithing, animation, and carving ideas.

He moved to his chest where he opened it to pick up one of the ten glass balls that were in side. The glass ball was small being only one inch in diameter. It was a clear piece of solid glass that he bought long ago for the soul reason to use for animation. He figured he would use them as eyes for a doll project he had thought about, but Daedalus had the idea that it would be better to practice with the sphere of glass alone. The reflective surface of the ball would serve as both its eye to follow his orders and allowed it to roll and move. He placed the glass ball into the pouch on his belt as he also grabbed two tools from his carving equipment. Picking up one of the hardest and strongest chisel he had that was used for stone carving and a mallet.

Moving over to the destination circle that the glass ball would be placed into, he keeled down and set the tip of the chisel at the center of the circle. He swung the mallet hard into the top of the chisle as it etched into the ground, nicking away at the stone. He kept on hammering until there was s slight depression in the ground. he cleaned away the small amount of dust that had built up with a blow of air from his lip. Now the ball wouldn't roll during the animation process as he took out the glass ball and set it on top of the hollow in the stone to hold it in place.

Daedalus set both the chisel along with the hammer down onto the top of the table before making his way over to the source circle. To work on attaching a Life Principle to the glass ball Daedalus would be acting as the source material to use his soul as a template to build the glass ball's life. Inside of the pouch on his belt he pulled out a carving knife to prick his thumb with the tip of the blade to draw blood from the finger. He reached forward to to let a drop of his blood fall onto the destination circle that held the glass ball then leaned back to get comfortable within his circle as he touched his bloody finger to the source circle.

Daedalus began to close his eyes as he started to focus on forming a connection between the two circles within his mind. He began to will his djed into action as the source circle was the first to show signs of activation. The outline of chalk starting from the point where he blood met the circle began to glow a dim red glow that slowly started to consume the entire circle until the light of djed completed a full loop along the chalk path to complete and lock the circle. His breathing slowed to a steady rhythm of deep inhale and exhales as the dim glow of the djed had increased in intensity almost as bright as the glow of a hearth fires flame.

As soon as the first circle was complete he opened his eyes to see that his body was lightly surrounded in djed connecting him to the source circle. Daedalus lifted his eyes to the destination circle to the point where his blood met the chalk as it also started to glow a faint red hue. He could feel it within him like a distant echo running through his soul and body. He began controlling his djed to complete the destination circle where only the outline of the chalk emited a dim glow.

Daedalus began to focus as he concentrated on creating the soul core of the glass ball, allowing the information within the his djed that made up his own Soulcore; The deepest part of the soul that gives the soul of a person the property of being a soul to travel down the line that connected the two circles together. Once the source Djed touched the faintly glowing Djed of the destination-circle. The second smaller circle was suddenly consumed in bright djed that matched the source circles glow, covering the glass ball. A clear sign that the source material and the Destination item were connected. Now he could no longer leave the circle at any moment in the future otherwise the animation process be ruined or corrupted.

The information within his djed would give the ball the basic template of life, granting the object the concept of 'sentience'. For about fifteen chimes of a bell as Daedalus sat cross legged inside of the source circle manipulating his djed to imbue the glass ball with life. His djed slowly began to form like clay around the glass ball as the soul core began to form around it. The glowing light in the destination circle started to dim as the djed appeared to form a compacted shell of magic around the ball. The red glowing Djed suddenly was absorbed into the glass ball which caused both the source circle and destination circle to lose the bright fire like glow, yet still glow faintly along the chalk circles lines. Daedalus could feel the Soulcore within the glass ball like a shell capable of life, although as a hollow shell devoid of the information on how to simply 'Be'.

Daedalus sat quietly as he pondered over what the ball would need during the creation of the artificial souls second layer known as its Persona which would form over the soulcore. He only needed it to follow a single directive and understand visual stimuli that it would instinctual understand and follow that instinct. He decided that its key Directive would be obedience only to him. It was a simple directive for the Glass-Ball to follow as he closed his eyes to focus.

The source circle surged with his djed as it moved down the path leading into the destination circle. Daedalus felt as though his djed was an echos of himself that seemed to be like his own voice when yelled. However, as the djed took the information he sent into the Animation away the echos of himself faded like shades of a forgotten past. The 'Obedience Directive' was transferred as Daedalus thought about the respect and love he felt for his own parents; and in turn sent that emotional information into the Glass-Ball. Giving it the information to treat Daedalus with supreme Love and Loyalty like a obedient son waiting for a fathers command.

Once that was done he needed to gift it with the information it needed to follow his orders. Daedalus focused on each set of information carefully, keeping his breathing controlled as his eyes remained shut to help him concentrate on the knowledge the Glass-Ball Puppet would known. It wouldn't be able to communicate, or even move on its own giving the glass-ball a Monkey-see-Monkey-do personality.

The first things the ball would know would be the main reason he was animating the ball. To turn it into a puppet, so he gave it the information required to know how to respond upon seeing the commands of his hand motions like a puppet. Should Daedalus never give it a hand moment command ever, It would simply be content to stay put where it was forever with no true sentient thought but the need to stay still until Daedalus returned. The ball holding the absolute basics of needed intelligence.

Lastly, he needed impart on to the Glass-Ball puppet what 'Movement' was to allow it to roll, likewise, to also know what 'Inaction' was to stop. From knowing Inaction came with the instinct to halt all its movement when it saw that it was not the focus of its father, Daedalus's, attention. The entire process of imparting the instincts and directive was a lengthy process as he remained within the circle for a bell.

As the Glass-Ball Puppet knew what the concept of movement were and when to move, it was time to gift it with the ability to move by creating its Astral Body to control its glass sphere shell. Daedalus had always found this to be the most difficult part of the animation process as sometime the things that needed to be animated had strange limbs, or odd moments that they needed to learn. However, since the puppet was just a sphere that needed to roll he had the perfect ideas in mind to teach it how to move its body. The red djed swelled from the chalk outlines of the destination-circle moving inward towards the Glass-ball like an inverted ripple from a droplet on the surface of water.

The rippling Djed was was the sign of the painfully slow formation of an Astral Body as it formed around the ball. Daedalus kept his eyes closed shut tightly as he drew on a very old memory from his time he spent as a child playing with his sibling. Like many children, at some point in time during their life they would roll around along the ground just for fun of it. He used the knowledge of rolling motions from that memory to give the the glass ball puppet golem the muscle memory it would need to move.

Once he had finished giving it the knowledge of how to move, he needed to give it the last thing it needed to follow his orders. Being a glass ball, the reflective surface of its shell made for the perfect eye of a golem. So lastly, Daedalus imparted it with the knowledge of what the sense of sight was and how to see.

By instinct alone it would known who Daedalus was though the obedience directive when it seeing him. With the knowledge of what he looked like, how to follow his orders, and how to move. Daedalus had completed everything necessary to turn the Animation into a semi-living being. The rippling djed had vanished leaving only djed in the shape of a ball that surrounded the ball-golem. He opened his eyes as to watch watch as the Astral body melded with the tiny glass sphere until only the ball remained.

Daedalus stood up from his seated position careful to remain in the source circle with a curious expression on his face. It took only a moment to awaken the golem as all the djed that had glowed along the two circles had evaporated into the air, turning into ambient Djed, as he looked down at the newly crafted glass-ball puppet golem.

It was the moment of truth as he lifted his hand, to point to an area by the foot of his table. The one inch diameter of glass started to rock back and forth slowly working up momentum to escape the depressed area of the ground he had carve to keep it steady during the animation process. He watched as he kept his hand up as it shook violently until it simply rolled out of it and over to the base of the tables leg.

"YES!" He exclaimed loudly while pumping his fist in success. That hand motion was alien to the glass sphere as it didn't process it as a command so feel back to its instinct of inaction. Simply doing nothing as Daedalus turned to spin in a circle and danced. Shuffling his feet as he slid from side to side happily. One he turned around he to point around the room to play with it. Watching as he waved his hand back and forth from sided to side to watch it move back and forth. A smile growing wide on his lips as he spun his finger in a slow circle as it started to roll in circles.

"Now come here." Talking to it even though it could not understand the concept of what words, or speech for that matter, even were. Kneeling down to hold his hand to the floor as he pointed to the palm of his hand. The ball rolled across the floor to roll up his fingertips and onto his palm. He pointed at it with his index finger from above as he pointed at his palm to spin his palm in small circles. It started to roll around his palm in small circles which gave off the false impression of him moving a glass ball with his mind. "Now? What to do next?" He said while pacing around the room with it in his palm.

Controls: Nonverbal. Moves as directed upon seeing Daedalus's Hand Movements.

Directives: Lovingly Loyal Obedience, it will only follow Daedalus's orders.

Construction: One inch diameter clear ball of solid glass.

    Skill level: Novice Animation.

Additional notes: Monkey-see-Monkey-do best explains how this puppet golem works. Should Daedalus never give it a hand moment command, It will simply be content to stay put where it was forever with no true sentient thought. Only the instinct to stay still until Daedalus commands it again.

Notes
Good stuff, DD. Pretty straight forward, and a nice start into your Animation threads. I'm looking forward to seeing him expand himself and try and animate more difficult things, as this was a pretty smooth process. Keep up the good work! Let me know if you have any questions, and please don't forget to edit your grade request to reflect that it's been completed! :)
