Attention Sahova!!
I have been thinking for a while now, on a lot of things about my wonderful city and my wonderful players. I have discovered that my little 'contest' has caused far more negative vibes than positive ones, and there are a few who have hurt because of it one way or another. I cannot help but take responsibility for this, as I never intended it to go the way it did. It's all been worked out and everyone is good once more, but I have decided to scrap my previous contest idea... For a new idea! Bwahahahaha!
Lol never say something cannot be recovered from the brink of disaster, because I have a new proposition for you all. I am no longer going to focus on these word counts, or this competition between players. Instead I want to offer you all something else instead, something I am going to call Sahova's First Storycrafting Challenge! (Nano edition!).
This came to me after talking with a fellow ST who is very close to Sahova as well, and she knows who she is . I hate to watch players fight with one another, so instead I wanted to create a challenge that would instead push players to write TOGETHER and build something amazing. Basically this challenge will be to create a story filled with all the epicness a story can hold. There is no one way to do it either. It does not have to be action packed, does not have to have huge amounts of Drama, or magic (*gasp* did Mirage just say that?) or anything in particular. What it DOES have to have is very real character development, character driven plots, and be very true to your characters in genera. Lol I said character like 3 times in a row, but you get the point. These stories do not have to have anything, except to be very true to your characters and their individual stories.
Now the rules for this challenge will be very open ended. A single player can have up to 1 solo thread, and 1 cooperative thread entered into this contest. There are no rules on the contents, or the number of players in these cooperative threads, however modded threads WILL NOT COUNT. So you guys will have to get to know each other very well . Threads entered into the challenge will then be read by your fellow Sahovans, and through anonymous voting by you, the players, PMed directly to me a winner will be decided. The winner's thread will be placed in the Sahova Announcements thread, along with some of the excellent reviews given by players as to why they loved the thread. It is my hope that with this challenge you, the players, will grow as writers, form stronger connections with each other, learn to appreciate one another's works, AND build amazing plots and stories all in one go! So lets do a quick breakdown of this paragraph shall we?
Challenge Rules 1. A Player may submit one solo, and one cooperative thread for voting 2. Players who do multiple cooperative threads will only be entered in the contest for the one THEY submit themselves for. This basically means a player can be in multiple cooperative threads, but only the one they choose to put up to represent them will be used in the voting. A player who is in a cooperative thread that won, but did choose the thread as one of theirs for voting, will not win the challenge, but may receive a consolation prize (just to be fair since your awesomeness went into the thread as well ) 3. There is no set parameters for these threads. The only rule is that they must be true to your character in some way. The best threads are ones that bring your character to life, so in every thread you do try and breath life into your writing 4. This contest is NOT meant to promote competition. It is to promote collaborative storytelling, and to allow players to meet and connect in new and interesting ways.
So that is the baseline of it all. I will probably edit it a bit and put some more work into the rules and such depending on the feedback I get. So now I give it to you, the players. Would you be interested in a challenge like this? If you like it we could make it into a seasonal/biseasonal thing, depending on the enthusiasm that is shown. Again let me emphasize that this is not meant to make players compete or fight with one another. It is a way to stretch your writing muscles, practice your story telling abilities, and then see what the other players in Sahova think of your work. I would not be involved in the voting at all, besides being the official counter lol. The prizes themselves will vary in type, size, and importance. Some times the challenge prize will be miniscule, othertimes it may be something completely unexpected! The point of this challenge is not to win a prize though. It is to develop your stories here in Sahova, and to breath passion and life into each and every thread that you do. THAT is what I want Sahova to represent. Not the competition. Mizahar is not an RPG GAME. its a collaborative writing site. That is what I want Sahova to excel in. Deep, innovative plots with well developed characters. I think it would be very fun to do these challenges and have your thread and names put up on the forum forever, so future players may look back at these stories you create and give them something to strive for.
So once more, my wonderful players, what do you think? |
