lol I tend to do that...Ask Fallan. I made him have to go and re-work his CS so many times due to IC questions Tay asks.

Shoot though, thats his own fault. I posted a quick post to he Auction thread (being the first PC captive and all eager) with no thought that someone would bid since I had gotten no bites from my pm's.

Then Fallan did a surprise bid, though he was just doing so thinking I had someone else going to bid on Taylani..but I didn't so Fallan won Taylani by default...and at the lowest price of all the captives..talk about a blow to Taylani's Ego! 10 measly Mizas

[Taylani's Scrapbook] Taylani's randomness

Postby Fallan Windchaser on November 11th, 2013, 10:16 am

Pfft, Fallan wanted to win, he just couldn't afford her - so winning was a bit unexpected and I will admit entirely unplanned :)

I do however have to comment on the stay at home thing. Reading Goss's first rant I'm thinking that it's a bit broad brush, but it's also reminding me how isolated I am from the ooc side of the site. I normally think that is a bad thing as I've found in the past that I miss out on RP and connections as a result, but that reminded me that every cloud has a silver lining. Then though I happened on the second post. To say I was infuriated was an understatement, but I guess from looking at the birthdays on the front page that most people on this site don't have much life experience - and some young people think that they know it all.

My girlfriend used to be a stay at home mom (weird spelling) and only in the last couple of years have her kids been old enough for her to go back to work. I can see both sides of the arguments, especially since I spent a good number of years supporting a stay at home wife (no kids).

I'm getting my butt kicked on NaNo in terms of word count. It never occurred to me though to whine about it or to justify that by claiming that someone had more time than me to post. What a bunch of losers!

So anyway, go Tay! Really glad you got Tay through the finishing line and I'm really thankful that Fallan and Tay got together. I'm not entirely sure that they are going to stay together in the way that they are now as I suspect that Tay is going to outgrow Fallan - which is going to be a side effect of sheer post count :) But we will see how that pans out IC.

[Taylani's Scrapbook] Taylani's randomness

Thank you Fallan. I have to say that I doubt Tay would have grown as much as she has as a character if Fallan hadn't stumbled onto her at the auction :) I had one person note that Taylani and Fallan were Endrykas' own soap opera which I had a good laugh at.

I have to say I had already made a decision to step back from the Nano competition just because of the amount of discouragement I had seen that my apparent rapid post count caused people to feel for writing for it. I already knew that the fact that I can write a post in my head while I am doing other things, then between one thing and another spit it out via typing quickly I had a leg up. I just was surprised to realize the sentiments as to the fact that I was winning because my husband and I made a life decision. (Besides, the fact is if I worked in an office outside of the home with internet access I could probably write just as much because I do most of my brainstorming for posts while I am busy doing other things).

I then had to step back and decide if I was going to respond or not. I decided to, but then I also wanted to post why being a Stay at home mom was not all candies and roses, though I kind of feel that post I put up came off as whining about being one which I am not at all. The sacrifices are so worth the blessings.

and I wouldn't make an IC decision based on post count silly. I get the feeling that Taylani won't go anywhere at all unless Fallan mucks it up big time. Post count doesn't matter to me..besides I got 2 surprise weekend posties so I am happy :D

I haven't read your Scrap yet, but I plan on it... sometime... in the future... when I have time.

But holy cow! You're almost at 700 posts and you've only been here 2 months! Do you know how unaccomplished that makes me feel? *sniffs brokenly*

Hahah! Kidding. You're a wonderful person and an awesome writer. Please don't burn out! D:

*smiles* Yes I know I am one of those people that just has a ton of things to say I suppose. Unfortunately not enough of it is very witty or useful!

I won't burn out, I will take breaks when I feel it coming but as long as I still have plenty of writing partners I usually keep my creative juices flowing :)

[Taylani's Scrapbook] Pfft to people

Ok so this is not going to be a nice post. It just isn't, and forgive me in advance if I don't apologize for it NOT being a nice post. I have spent the last four or five days very self conscious of my time on Mizahar. Every post I have made, with the exception of the one in my thread I have going with Fallan which just could not be shortened even if I had tried, have been shortened forcibly by myself. I am now actively trying to get LESS word count in. Why? Because of some comments that have made me feel as if I was some how wrong or defective for being quite active.

I didn't really want to be the whole "Wow that hurt" person, I tried to be the understanding of why they felt that way about me person. Which in general is how I truly am. I understand that not everyone will like everyone, I understand that I am not this great person that everyone just falls in love with. But to feel like I was being judged because of my word count was a bit harsh. And totally not fair to my thread partners.

It is my thread partners that have really inspired this post because I feel like I owe them an apology for my posts being abrupt and ...stunted due to my need to lower my word count.

I am at the point where I look at my house. The kitchen floor is mopped ,the carpets are vacuumed, the laundry is done. Breakfast dishes are in the dishwasher, and I still have the beds to make but that won't take too long. This afternoon I will be taking one of the kids to their speech therapy appointment but other then that guess what, yes I have a little free time. But remember I have been up since 5 am and it is now 10 am. That is five hours of work. So excuse me if I feel I deserve a little bit of free time. If that means that I write, then I write.

I like writing. I like developing a character. I like grading threads, I like helping out. I am done letting what others might think of me dictate me doing what I enjoy. So again, I apologize to my thread partners. I will try to do better posts now.

Taylani, those people are just idiots. Don’t pay attention to them, and don’t force yourself to post less because of them. They aren’t worth worrying about. If your thread partners inspire you and if you use your free time to write, that’s great! You don’t need to justify yourself. Personally, I’ve never had a problem with you, but I have a problem with people that are jealous or mad because somebody writes more than they. NaNo is about enjoying writing, it’s about encouraging each other, not about competition and negative feelings.

Pish posh, Tay. People are only angry because they were so emotionally invested in their own success over others, which is a natural, but dangerous thing to do. I really do think word-count is an odd measuring stick, though. I'm sorry you were feeling glum about it. It's nice of you to try and be so empathetic.

Let me know if you ever want to thread again! I actually do need an excuse for why Timshel gets invited to hunt with the Dawnwhispers. My links are either Khida or you.

I agree with Val, you do what you gotta do girl. Don't mind the nasties and the bullies and the jealous. Honestly, how petty and insecure do you have to be to sink low enough to say unpleasant things to someone for succeeding at NaNo? I can understand it may be rather daunting and intimidating to have to eat your mile-long trail of dust (hah, it's the truth :P) but it's clear you aren't doing it to rub it in anyone's face, so why bother with the pettiness?

Having never done nano, I thought a little competition would be fun. But, I guess there will always be those who let that competitiveness get to their heads and poison their words. Being more concise with one's writing is a noble goal, but in the spirit of nano I think you should keep doing what you do :) 5 million words! Let's do it!
