Oh and one last thing, please choose your 'Job Threads" and label them as such when you place them in my office for grading. I do not want you all to miss out on seasonal XP :)

Pandaemus and Annalisa: PM me if you are unsure about your job threads. Pan you can simply do solos of animating things that Cid provides you. Anna I will post again in our modded thread and you will have a better idea of what you will be up to ^.^. Feel free to solo doing any of that stuff XD

P.S. Be sure to see my post from before with all the announcements and mushy words of encouragement ^.^

[Sahova OOC Thread] Rest in Peace

Postby Mirage on November 21st, 2013, 8:44 pm

Attention Everyone!

Sahova now has a Grading Request Thread!! I've been putting it off for no good reason really, and I kinda started to kick myself for that lol. I had to copy, move and delete more than 10 of you guy's threads! Seriously and these were all done in the month of November. Lol you people can really pump out some threads when you really want to :P

So from now on place those requests in the new sticky grade request thread, and on put in my office moderation requests if you do not PM me first ^.^

Happy Writing!

I would also like to throw out a big thanks to Meville Brightshade for his contribution to Sahvoa! He has just created 2 new creatures for Sahova. One is a Fungus found in the Sahova Atlas, and the other is found in the Mudpools! Check them out when you get the chance. they are really interesting to see ;)

[Sahova OOC Thread] Rest in Peace

Postby Celeste Arumen on November 21st, 2013, 9:20 pm

Sweet zombie jebus! So many updates! :D

First of all, thank you so much for all your hard work. You certainly deserve some time to write for Evalin, especially if she has been on the shelf for so long. I wish you the best in your attempt for 50k!

Second, I wish everyone luck in their submissions for the writing contest; I can't wait to read everyone's threads. Chances are, I already have. :ninja:

Third and finally, for those of you who don't know, I'm also Elysium. That being said, I'll be busy getting ready for the season change during the last few days of this month, so if you see me slowing down a bit, that is why. I'm still like 7k away from the 50 mark, so I'll be speedy up until then.

Hearts!

Hey, what can I say I like the look of an active forum. Also I think you can certainly reach 50k words with Eva, go for it! After all the work you do here you certainly deserve it.

In any event all of the above sound lovely to me, likely next season will bring much awesomeness and joy. There is one thing I've actually had a bit of interest in though, not so much a theme as an event I suppose. The Reacquaintance has been an interesting part of the lore that caught my eye, so I've wondered of one has ever been held in RP?

As for factions, I have an unhealthy curiosity as to the nature of the Silence. Don't know why but I just do.

Anyway, I bid good luck to everyone with their goals going into this Winter. I suspect I'll begin pestering a bunch of people for threads when the season change occurs, though I'll likely be a bit slow coming up for similar reasons as Celeste.

[Sahova OOC Thread] Rest in Peace

Lol the Silence it is! I was kind of hoping someone would ask for them as they are a personal favorite of mine ^.^. I can promise at least one plot with them next season!

So I know its heading into the Thanksgiving holidays, and everyone is starting to wind down and get ready for seasonal change and the holidays. BUT! Before you all get too caught up in your holiday plannings please go ahead and send your threads in for the challenge! I've so far only gotten one PM with thread submissions. I would like to have the challenge page posted by monday if possible that way everyone can take their time to read through threads during their holidays and not feel pressured to get things done too quick ^.^.

Also I think I forgot to say this in my last announcement, but because this is our first run through I decided that ANY threads done this fall season that were not modded threads may be counted in the challenge ^.^. So send me one solo, and one coop thread from this season ASAP! I am happy to say we have a few graders who have volunteered their time to Sahova to help with my backlog a bit, and I will be cutting through them as well to try and clear out my office before seasonal change. I hope everyone's holidays are getting off to a good start, and of course Happy Writing!!

OK SO! First thing is first. I would like to thank Elysium for the AMAZING new box codes, Avatars and Sigs I just got. Christmas came early for me! Hehe. All of this wonderful art has really got me into the mood to do some posting for Sahova, so I am going to try and run through as many threads as possible tonight in my grading thread, and then try and do a few posts to modded threads. Crypt Keepers is at the top of the list! Followed of course by my other modded threads ^.^.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season! So far I have 2 players send me their threads for the Challenge, I am looking for a couple more players to send theirs so I can go ahead and post up the challenge announcement so we can all spend some time reading this thanksgiving :D. The submissions so far have been GREAT! You will all have some really good reading to do this season! The next Challenge will actually begin at the BEGINNING of the season lol. So next time you will have plenty of time to work on threads for submissions. I think it works out better if we have one challenge at the end of every season, what do you all think?

Finally I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on something. Would you all like to have something like a perk point system in Sahova like some of the other cities have? You know where you do OOC and IC stuff to earn points which you can spend at an in game store kinda place? I'm curious to know. I personally have not cared for them that much, but all of the other cities seem to really be thriving from them, and it might help attract much needed players for our city too! Before I make any decisions of plans though I want pinons from my players ^.^. Whats the work on perk points people?

Pan I hope to see you soon! I keep missing you in chat, but you know I still love ya right XD. To everyone, Happy Writing!

[Sahova OOC Thread] Rest in Peace

Postby Annalisa Marin on November 25th, 2013, 12:18 am

Shamelessly ogles sexy new avatar and boxcode.

Sorry... got a bit distracted there. I'll be the first to praise Elysium since I owe her for my newest Avatar and the fire themed Siggy. :D

Anyway huzzah for challenges and posts! Thanksgiving has come early in that event! Makes sense for them to be placed at the end of the season as it allows for a large pool of threads to chose from.

As for my opinion on the perk system... hmm...

I'm certainly open to it and see how it can bring in more PC's to Sahova, giving people goals to strive for in a sense. However...

Let me step slightly into my evil insanity bringing tentacle monster form here for a second. Looking over Zeltiva one of the first things I called to V's notice was the status point system, because inherently it was broken. Really the only thing a person needs to do under the system is park themselves down, grind their main job skill to master and pump out a couple of job threads every season and suddenly their a Trident Lord at the relatively cheap price of 5000 GM's.

So my very first recommendation if you are considering this is to not allow people to buy points, like ever. Its a mess to deal with, trust me.

I've looked at the Syliras' Shield Point System and the Ravokian Faction system and both seem to have a much better set up. Rewards for deeds or acts the character does that benefits their city or faction seem a lot more focused on IC development. They are both, however, thematic to their specific domains. Sylirans are focused on knightly deeds that set the Squire/Knight apart from their peers, Ravok is all about connections within the various factions running around that vie for control.

...And I just realized how rambling this whole thing sounds. Anyway, I guess my only main reservation here is that Perk Systems can be... abused for lack of a better word. I think it could work great on Sahova, but how would one earn these points? Research and development for the Citadel? Initiates doing work in the Testing Grounds?

Anyway that's my jumbled two cents on the matter. ;)

haha all opinions, however rambly, are welcome!!

I really did not ever intend for players to buy points in anyway for 2 reasons. 1) it seems silly since you don't have to do any work, and 2) you cannot earn money easily on Sahova lol. So I was thinking of giving the players 2 ways to earn points. One would be doing various OOC activities. Develop locations, NPC's, monsters and plants, etc. The 2nd would be various IC challengers. I was considering setting up Thread Goals in the calendar this year, and you get a set number of points for completing each goal. Of course if I were going to give you points to complete goals they would have to be fairly difficult, so no "Go for a walk in the Courtyard" kind of seasonal goals, and I would probably limit them to only 5-10 for the entire season so no one could span them. Finally I would offer points for some kind of IC action. Points for gaining ranks possibly, points for gaining contacts, for creating new items and inventions, for risking your life doing your duty as an Initiate, etc. The more challenging the task, or dangerous, the more points you get. Possibly you could get extra points for higher levels of character development. I was also planning on limiting the points only to threads that are NOT modded, that way it does not look like I am padding any specific players points when they end up with more modded threads for one reason or another.

What about something like what I said above? Im really not sure just yet, and I am not 100 Percent convinced. I would like to attract more people, and Winter would definitely be the time to do it. With your help I would like to establish something that I could begin to put into play near the beginning of the Winter season, if we all decide that is a good course for Sahova to take. You guys are founding members of Sahova after all, so you all deserve a say ^.^

Hi everyone! I thought I'd pop in here and offer my two cents.

As far as the Perk Point system goes, I never knew anyone had ever been allowed to purchase points before. That seems a little cray-cray, in my opinion. A loophole like that would drfinitely invite abuse, especially from the real high rollers like reimancers and magecrafters.

I love the idea of difficult IC challenges. They sound really fun. And you can really get people into development through the perk point system. I especially favor linking perk points up with seasonal development contests, so you can generate alot of content and get people really involved in the city lore. Plus, perk points are a very good excuse to generate new magical items! I love it. I think if you stay true to what your own standards, it'll turn out great.
