-Fade-

Closing the door behind her, he followed her to the center of the little office, still making sure to keep her out of his direct focus. He still felt uncomfortable about focusing fully upon her, as if there was something about her Aura that he would not like to see. At the same time though, he felt oddly compelled to look at her, to revel in that Aura. Perhaps that was what made him uncomfortable. While most of the Aura's he looked upon were quite beautiful, each in their own special way, he had never really been attracted to one before. But this one, she was different. They had barely traded any words, he couldn't even see her actual features, and he was already oddly attracted. Oddly pulled to her, perhaps that was a better word. He wasn't so sure any more; as once again, his head was beginning to get a little fogged. This was crazy, he was putting way too much thought into this.

It was then he realized he had stopped moving, and was merely standing in the center of the office, with his head angled toward her. His cheeks flushed a light red, and he coughed, letting out a somewhat nervous chuckle. "Excuse me, milady Fade. This one was lost in his own head for a moment." Her comment that formality was not needed apparently went un-noticed, as he once again referred to himself humbly, and continued to honor her. Stepping around her, that pleasant smile once more on his face, he went around the side of the desk and sat down on the accompanying chair. Tilting his head at her, his smile once again attacking her with unending warmth, he motioned at the chair across the desk. "Please milady, sit. Take a load off, did you have a long walk here?"

Reaching out, his long, graceful fingers closed around a bowl of peppermint candies, and he extended it to her, smiling as he offered her the treat. He spoke, answering her earlier question. "Are you familiar with magic, milady? This one knows that some aren't very fond of it, and this one would understand if milady is uncomfortable with it. This one uses a kind of magic known as Auristics in order to see. It allows this one to see a little more than most, in a rather mystical way. This one just wants to look at you, in a word. Deeper than most. This one will be looking at your heart, your morality, your emotions. All of these things, as well as many others, all swirl about you to form an invisible Aura. That is what this one sees."

He cleared his throat, shaking his head. "This one is sorry if this one is not being clear. It is hard for this one to explain to someone who cannot see like this one can." Chewing his lower lip in thought, he cocked his head in the other direction, his attention still slightly off of her, yet his mind rapidly thinking about her. He hated explaining it to people, he really did. It was so hard to do, and it just sounded so weird. "This one just wants to see if you are trustworthy, really. We will be going into danger, and this one wants to make sure you are someone who can be trusted. This one apologizes if you take that to offense, milady. This one means no harm, truly."

He held out the bowl of candy a little further, smiling. "Candy, milady?"

-Guido-

Rap tap tap.

Stitch was instantly up from his desk and at the door, and it was quickly swung open, the blind man completely and totally ready for it this time. Fade and Rhuryc had both appeared one after the other, surprising Stitch, and he had supposed that their quick arrival had clued him in on the kind of response he would be getting. He had only put the note up yesterday, after all. He didn't think an ad that spoke of death and danger would get much of a response, but apparently it had caught the interest of quite a diverse crowd. However, t seemed the only thing that most people had noticed was the treasure. The eagerness worried Stitch just a bit, he wuld have liked to see a bit more caution, but he supposed he couldn't blame them. He too was a bit excited to get outside the walls of Syliras, which he rarely had the chance to do. Since Malia had left, he had been so busy with the children, and all the duties that came along with the Welcome Home. This journey would be a welcome vacation, even if it was likely to turn into something a little different then a mere "vacation".

The man in front of him had a colorful Aura, and that Aura pulsed with the same adventurious spirit as the other. Chuckling to himself, Stitch stepped aside, allowing the man entry. "Good afternoon, milord. You are here about the ad, this one presumes?" Stitch was quite the polite one, it seemed. His dialect was soft and proper, humble and respectful. He was quite the figure to look at, tall and extremely fit, but he still radiated a soft and gentle kind of warmth. The most noticable thing was the two blind eyes, which had stayed uncovered for quite a long time today. They were milky white orbs with three scratched scars in each, and faded grey pupils. They were slightly creepy, and took away from an otherwise handsome face, but the blind man didn't seem to let them dampen his rather bright spirits.

Stitch was interested in Guido, to say the least. He had just been about to go out and grab the ads from around town, for he had found his group. Fade and Rhuryc seemed like quite the capable party, and he had confidence in the three of them. But now looking upon this man, Stitch had almost instantly decided to add another to the group. His Aura reeked of magic, much like Kamalia's did, although it was a much more calm magic. Magic was handy though, very much so, and always a welcome addition to any kind of adventuring party. What kind of magic was it, Stitch wondered?

The man seemed to be a good person, too. Stitch was having no problems with his Aura, no uncomfortable feelings or doubts. It was colorful and active, swirling and jumping about.

Fade sat down on the offered seat slowly her eyes never leaving the man and his oddly warming smile, she accepted the candy graciously thanking him, though she held in her hands while she talked.
“I’m not uncomfortable with magic and I won’t take any offense, so please go on and examine me” She trailed off and sighed softly and continued in a somewhat hushed tone “And please tell me if you have any trouble”
She gazed at him apprehensively wondering if the allure her gift gave her attracted even the blind, she hadn’t still got used to the stares people gave her. But he wasn’t really blind so...

She sat back, she hadn’t been surprised when he mentioned Auristics now that she came to think about it. She only wondered what he would see, she popped the candy in her mouth, maybe her gift would pose a problem. She had no idea fact was some people were repelled by her gift and some people just ignored it or al least tried to ignore it. But it was a difficult thing to ignore.
She kept her hands clasped on her knees as an odd sense of nervousness washed over her, but it was gone moments after. Fade could wash away her thoughts like water on chalk and store them away for another day. Maybe that’s why she was still sane after so many years of slavery… She looked up and waited for his reaction.

Postby Guido Faragas on August 6th, 2010, 6:09 pm

The door opened promptly and Guido barely had time to set a broad smile on his face: it was the antithesis of the surly manner in which his father greeted clients. Guido had developed the smile to counterbalance his father’s rudeness but in doing so he had learnt that a pleasant, relaxed manner put people at ease. His laid back attitude also annoyed his father, which was a bonus...

Just as the smile set itself on the would-be adventurer’s face, his eyes alighted on the eyes of the tall man who opened the door and he couldn’t restrain his bottom lip from drooping and quivering a little. Those eyes... white, scarred orbs and pale grey pupils – the man was clearly blind. And yet.... the apparently dead eyes appeared, in some sense, to have their own life, to be an essential part of the man...

“Yes, I c...came about your ad,” he stammered a little in response to the blind man’s question. The man stepped aside to allow Guido entry and with a quick nod he entered the porch of the Welcome Home. “I have some experience of expeditions outside the city walls,,. perhaps, I can be of assistance...” The words spilled out rather rapidly. Experience? Digging in the mud for non-existent relics, hardly the life of a hardened adventurer. He hesitated to move beyond the entranceway, and hovered close to the door.

-Fade-

Taking a breath, he nodded at her to signal his intent, and slowly began to shift his focus onto her Aura. He was still a bit put off by the idea, but he wasn't so sure why. Reminding himself that it was best not to judge, and that he couldn't really have an opinion on it before he actually experienced it, he forced his gaze upon her. Chewing on his lower lip in concentration, he settled his oddly frantic nerves, found her Aura, and slowly began to focus.

It was a swirl of light purples and dark reds, an oddly alluring and exotic blend of colors that he had rarely seen before. He had seem them somewhere, that was for certain, but he couldn't quite place where it was. Shrugging off the mild curiosity, he focused harder, letting himself mold a little closer to her own personal colors. They were quite agile, moving and twisting in ways that Stitch thought were impossible. They curled and twisted around and over themselves in quite a speedy way, almost leaving Stitch dizzy if he tried to follow them. Her's was one of the more active Auras he had seen in awhile, and it was slightly refreshing. Most people were calm and quite one sided with their Aura's, but her, she seemed to be a little more complex. Perhaps she herself was a speedy, hyper active person. He couldn't be sure, really. It seemed to be pretty normal though, not really all that far out there. Why had he sensed something a bit inhuman about it, then? Everything seemed to be just like another unique human. Cocking his head to the side, slightly more curious now, he tried to focus a little deeper. She would notice a vein push across his forehead, suddenly bulging from beneath the skin, and the mood in the room would throb with intensity.

He mentally blinked, starting a bit in surprise as something new suddenly came into view. Hidden deep within the exotic folds of her Aura was somehow another Aura, one completely and absolutely different than hers. It struck out the minute he noticed it, twisting from deep within her Aura to reveal itself, glowing with some kind of different essence than anything else Stitch had laid his eyes on before. It was a glowing gold chain, continuously wrapping itself around her agile Aura, managing to keep up, and managing to capture. It was a small chain, unable to bind all of her Aura, but certainly trying its best. He had never seen anything like it, and was quickly entranced by it, awed by the beauty of it.

The beauty? It was a chain. A simple, gold chain. Why was it so mesmerizing? And how did she have TWO auras? And why was it trying to bind her Aura, dominate her Aura, which danced so beautifully? Speaking as if from a distance, his words leaked out softly, a slight sound of wonder to them. "Milady Fade.. If this one might ask.. Does the symbol of a chain mean anything to you? This one sees your Aura, and a beautiful Aura it is... But there is some other presence. Something else there..?"

He silenced, letting her speak, keeping one ear on her, but still marveling at the image of the chain so gracefully weaving through her own little strands of Aura. This was crazy, but he couldn't help it. It was oddly toxic, oddly alluring.

Guido

Stitch cocked his head at the man as he noticed him hesitate, and quickly took a closer look at his colorful Aura, attempting to find the reason he was hesitating. The man pulsed with a mixture of shock and discomfort, and if Stitch focused just a little more, he could tell the man had his attentions on Stitch's eyes. Trying not to let his smile widen out of pure amusement, Stitch remained to the side, still allowing the man the entry he needed. He had long since grown used to the looks his eyes tended to bring, and that was one of the reasons he normally kept them wrapped in medical bandages. He would have them on now, if he didn't like having them removed for the particular task he was about to perform. He kept silent for now, allowing the man to observe him, and only spoke up when spoken to. "Well thank you for your response, milord. This one would be quite honored to have you along. If this one may inquire, do you practice magic? Reimancy, perhaps? This one has an old friend who practices the exact same art as yours, although you look a bit different than her. This one can't really explain that part, although you might understand. Is milord familiar with the magic of Auristics?"

Remaining stepped inside, Stitch realized the man was still a bit hesitant, and decided to take the lead. Stepping forward, he moved within the house, motioning for Guido to follow. The inside of the Welcome Home was quite the sight, a small blue office with a single door leading deeper. The walls were covered in pictures drawn by child-like hands, and the only furniture in the room was a few small chairs, and a single small desk. Moving forward to sit behind the desk, Stitch once more faced Guido, if the man had indeed followed him in.

That smile still on his pleasant face, Stitch chuckled a bit at Guido, speaking softly once again. "Please do not be discomforted by this one's eyes, milord. This one is lucky that he can still see with the help of blessed magic, and this one's scarred eyes do not bother him in the least bit. If they do bother milord though, this one can cover them up, if need be?" Stitch's voice reflected his words, as he did not sound in the least bit bothered. His voice actually seemed to be getting warmer and warmer as he went on, and the feeling in the room was quite cozy too.

Reaching out for a nearly empty bowl of peppermints, Stitch offered them to the man, his smile widening. "Candy, milord?"

Reimancy? He sees me for a few brief moments and already suspects that I am a reimancer...how? Aurisitics...?. Brushing back his hair once more, the new arrival managed to speak a little more clearly and with greater assurance than he had hitherto managed. “Yes, I am a reimancer, although my experience is limited. I have trained with Master Silven – perhaps you know of him? He spoke to me about other arts such as auristics but beyond a basic understanding, my knowledge is somewhat limited.”

Guido followed the tall man into the office. He noted the childish pictures that adorned the walls but his attention was focused upon the blind man as he took a seat at the small desk. The apprentice reimancer reddened a little as the man offered to cover his eyes. “No,” he replied quickly. “Please do not cover your eyes on my account. I was merely a little startled and I must apologise.” The apology was genuine and the tone extremely penitent.

Still standing before the desk, Guido bent to take a peppermint, Before popping the candy into his mouth, he stood a little straighter and offered his name in a rather formal manner. “I am Guido Faragas, sir. I would be honoured to apply for a place on your expedition.”

Fade watched as he bit his lip in concentration and some time after a vein pulse on his forehead. She didn’t move though, almost not breathing waiting for him to speak. She also wondered how auristics worked, she knew the real basics of glyphing and projection but she didn’t know anything about auristics.

But when he did speak she sighed a hand drifting absentmindedly to her chest “Yes, a chain means a lot for me. I was blessed by Nikali a year ago during the last period of my slavery. I was a slave and an acrobat, a contortionist mostly. I guess my gnosis mark would explain the presence” She fell into silence and then spoke again “With one touch I can know someone’s desires and I feel compelled to fulfil them though I can fight those feelings off” She bit her lip slightly and wondered how he would react to this and then added the second part of what the gift gave her “People also trust me easier and find me more appealing and alluring.”
She trailed off looking at him trying to anticipate his reaction but it was almost impossible to imagine a scowl replacing that oddly warm smile. But it would be only natural. She had met people who had not only despised her but also pitied her. It was also difficult to get in almost any type of relationship when you had such a gift.

-Guido-

"Ah, Master Silven!" Stitch chuckled, a surprised fond look crossing his features. "That was the dear elderly man who liked to collect all the odd artifacts, yes? This one used to go to him when this one was a child. The dear old fellow has several amazing stories about his adventures as a grand wizard, but this one wasn't ever so sure if they were true... But this one was quite fond of him. This one hasn't seen him around in awhile though, how is he doing?" The smile remained stretched across Stitch's face as he recalled the old man, shouting quite amazing stories at a once-young Stitch. Back then, Stitch had believed in the stories, and truly marveled at them. Now though, thinking back, they did seem a little crazy. But then again, magic had the tendency to be quite crazy in it's own little way, so perhaps he shouldn't be so quick to doubt. What fun was life without a little craziness every now and then, anyways?

Noticing the shame flooding from the man's Aura, Stitch chuckled once more, raising a hand and waving it dimissively at the mage. "Don't apologize, milord. This one is used to the reaction, and this one also understands it is quite a common and instinctive action. This one would likely be startled if this one saw milord, and our roles were reversed." Stitch paused, suddenly musing a bit, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "Although, this one would likely apologize too... Very well! Apology accepted!"

Noticing Guido accepted a peppermint, Stitch gave an approving nod, happy that yet another person enjoyed his choice of candy. He once again nodded as the man offered his name, repeating it in his head. It was a slightly odd name, but rather charming. It would be easy to remember. Rising from his seat, Stitch extended a hand to the gentleman, that warm and infectious smile on his face. "The pleasure is mine, milord. Please, call this one Stitch. Anything else would make this one most uncomfortable."

Sitting back down, Stitch motioned for the mage to have a seat as well. "Please, take a load off. This one is happy to have milord applying for a position. So far we have two others, yet this one doesn't believe they use much, if any magic. A mage would be welcome. Is milord skilled? This one can detect slight traces of Reimancy use on your Aura, but not much other than that." Stitch paused, eyeing the peppermints for a moment, then snatching one up and quickly popping it into his mouth. Grinning like a little boy, Stitch continued, his words slightly muffled by the piece of candy. "The application process is quite simple. This one simply wants to take a closer look at you with my Auristics, and ask milord a few questions. This one just wants to make sure you are a good, trustworthy person. One that this one and others can depend on."

-Fade-

"Ah! That makes sense!" The smile actually managed to grow, amazingly. He was happy the mystery had been solved, and quite satisfied by her answer. He had been observing her closely as she answered his question, most of the magical application hinging on what she said, and she had passed with flying colors. Her Aura had throbbed with a sort of resentment and shame toward the Gnosis mark she held, but she had very honestly spoken to him, her brilliant colors throbbing with complete and total truth. He was happy that she had done that, especially with how hard it seemed to be for her to talk about it. Stitch cocked his head at her, smiling, voicing his thoughts. "Thank you for sharing, milady. This one is honored you were so straightforward and honest, even when it seems to be a bit of a hard topic for milady." He really was. He now had an explaination for why he had found her attractive, even though he couldn't actually see her.

Cocking his head, he now studied her again, trying to figure out the best approach to the situation. She seemed... sad, for lack of a better word. He didn't like that. He didn't like it when people were sad. It was slightly naive of him, but if he could, he would make the whole world happy. Happiness was much better than sadness, right? He thought so. He continued to examine her, especially the emotions in her Aura, an awkward silence falling upon the pair as Stitch chewed on his lower lip in thought. He kind of wanted to make her happy, now. There was no reason for her to be sad in his presence. He now thought highly of her, considering her bravery, and really had no opinion on her Gnosis mark.

Suddenly, he held out a hand, obviously for a handshake. His face was bright and beaming, the smile once more happy and true. No fear was shown in his features, no form of pity, nothing out of the ordinary. Well, perhaps he was a little overly happy, but she would find that was normal. Yet his hand was held out for a firm handshake, regardless of the information she had shared with him. He seemed not to care about her curse, it seemed as if he may have already absorbed the information, and then moved on.

"This one assumes you can handle yourself in dangerous situations, milady? If milady is not afraid, and can promise this one that she is able to handle the dangers ahead... This one would be happy to have you along."

“You assume right, I am not afraid and I never panic.” She managed to blurt out, still puzzled by his reaction, his smile had somehow become wider! Maybe what she had said reflected her aura or at least the parts he had found strange. He was the first person to smile at her after she had told them her past for one thing and most importantly her gift “And thanks” she said still eyeing his outstretched hand wondering if he would get offended if she wore her glove she hesitated then pulled on the glove silently then shook his hand muttering “I’m sorry, its not that I don’t trust you but its for me…”

In that moment she remembered her appointment on the 20th she groaned inwardly and looked up from the handshake and said “One more thing, I’m sorry to ask this but could we postpone the departure to the 20th? I’m sorry but I didn’t think about it, and I won’t be offended or anything if you say no: it would only be natural.” She clasped her hands on her lap suddenly embarrassed about her situation, maybe he had already made plans…

“I’m afraid my master has set out on an expedition from which he has yet to return,” replied Guido ruefully. “My studies have been interrupted but I hope to make progress when he returns. He is an excellent teacher, although he has his eccentricities.” He can be a cantankerous old devil but I still love the old man.

Stitch’s outstretched hand was grasped by Guido with a firm and rather overenthusiastic shake – in fact, several rapid shakes as if overcompensating for his previous reaction to seeing the blind man. He popped the peppermint into his mouth, licking it with his tongue and rolling it inside one cheek to ensure a slow release of the flavour. Flashing a brief smile of thanks, the young reimancer took the offered seat, sitting upright hands placed folded across his lap.

“I have some skills in reimancy,” said Guido. Better to be honest. “However, I can claim no great expertise, for as I have said my studies were interrupted. Still, I have some skill with the element of fire which may be useful for you expedition. And, I am a quick learner. I also have some expertise in archaeological investigation and digging, if that is of any use.” He hesitated momentarily before continuing. “I am happy to answer any questions you may have and...feel free to read my aura...”

-Fade-

He chuckled at her sudden outburst, a rather fond look growing over his face. She reminded him of a older version of Fentya. He often wondered if Fentya would ever outgrow her sharp sarcasm, and turn into a nice young lady. He didnt even consider the thought for a second before the chuckle erupted again, the idiocy of the idea quite obvious to him. Fentya was who she was, and he shouldn't wish that she be anything else. She was quite a delightful young lady, and even if she wasn't a normal young lady, he still loved her all the same. It wasn't like he was a very normal kind of orphanage owner, anyways. Giving a short nod as she put on her glove, he continued to smile brightly at her, not deterred in the slightest bit. "Not at all, milady. This one completely understands. How strong are these urges of yours, once you understand one's desires? Is there any particular way to cancel out your urge to serve, once it has swelled up within you?"

Stitch stood from his chair, apparently unfazed by her confession of forgetfulness, shaking his head at her. "Not at all, milady. This one was perhaps a little hasty in setting the departure date to the day after the actual interview, so this one assumes that the other partners will like the idea of having a little more time to prepare."

As Stitch had stood up, Fade might notice that his hand was now clenching a small little leather pouch. As he stepped out from behind the desk, he dropped the pouch onto the empty surface, right in front of her. A clinging sound echoed out as he did, and she would easily be able to recognize the sound of Mizas. "25 Mizas, milady. To help you buy the rations you will need for the trip, as well as anything extra. Meet his one here on the 20th, after your appointment, then?"

-Guido-

Stitch kept the amused smile from spreading too far on his face as the young man shook his hand with great vigor, nearly rattling Stitch's wrist out of the socket. He instead chose to distract himself, and his humor, focusing instead on the current state of Master Silven. "This one is sorry to hear that your studies have been interrupted, milord. This one wishes the beloved Master a safe journey, and a speedy return. This one can tell you miss him very much." Stitch nodded and smiled with obvious approval as Guido took the peppermint, and seated himself along with the man, leaning back a bit in his chair and once more eyeing the peppermints. He still held the bowl in his hand, yet had to force himself to put the candy back down, for fear that he would hurriedly steal another piece.

Mentally glancing back to Guido, he briefly scanned the wizard's Aura while he spoke, checking for any falsehood. The man was like Rhuryc, quite honest and true, which Stitch found to be a delight. Three people had come today, the exact number he needed for his expedition, and all three had turned out to be excellent people. "Fire Reimancy should come in handy, and this one thanks you for offering your skills. This wasn't sure if you were a Reimancer, but this one knows one or two, and you have the same magical residue that they do. It isn't painfully obvious, but this one is quite used to it."

Reaching beneath the table, Stitch grabbed at a small bag of Mizas, and plopped it down on the table, offering it to the man. "There you go, milord. Consider yourself accepted into our expedition. This one does not think a deep Aura reading is required here, as you are obviously trustworthy. This one hopes these Mizas will pay for your rations, and hopefully help with whatever other expenses you may have." Pausing a moment, Stitch folded his hands on the table and cocked his head to the side, suddenly remembering a small issue Fade had brought up earlier. "This one know he posted the 18th of Summer as the date to leave at, but one of our companions cannot make it until the 20th. Will it be okay with milord to delay depature until then? It will give us a bit more time to prepare, this one thinks."
