A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

Differing Opinions (Lauralyn)

The young woman grinned deciding tantrum was a perfect word but the grin faded and her eyes grew bright. Her head shook violently in denial of Lauralyn's words. She waved her arms around, pointing to people then herself, then Lauralyn. She pointed above them, below them and made a seemingly random series of gestures before realizing Lauralyn was not one who could understand her. Sosicly held up one clawed finger, and wrote swiftly, struggling to say everything without missing a word but writing swiftly all the same. You should appreciate it, you are alive. It is that simple. Is it so different than any others? You say rape like it occurs no where else. Like no one else dies in birth. Perhaps it is not fair what we do but until we can fix ourselves what options do we have? Should we die out just because we were cursed like this? Would you leave your child truly motherless just to prove your point? I do not understand you or her. We are not some sort of heartless monsters, we have a choice to make and we have made the best we can right now. Sosicly tore herself away from the page unsure of who she was trying to convince at this chime to sort her thoughts. After a moment of catching her breath she slowly released the inkstick then flashed Lauralyn an apologetic smile. I am sorry, I do not mean to scold. There is nothing wrong with what you say. But I think I can agree with the bodies, I think we should not throw them away when they have given us a great gift, willingly or not. And some do come willingly, some want to give birth to a child they loved in a way our mothers cannot.

She watched Lauralyn through the fringe of her bangs, then signaled for the server again, tearing off a piece of her page to order something sweet for her and her companion. The order taken the server went off with a little sniff that made Sosicly raise her eyebrows. She turned to Lauralyn and jerked her head to the stairs with a questioning raise of her eyebrows. Silently asking if the other woman would prefer they continue elsewhere, if they continued. Re-reading her words Sosicly realized she may have let her emotions and own frustrations out on the girl. Truthfully she wanted, needed to know more about the Esterians before she made her decision.

Differing Opinions (Lauralyn)

The reaction was more violent than she had thought. The mute girl waved her arms around erratically, gesturing and pointing. Lauralyn kept herself calm, waiting for the angry young lady to do the same. After a moment of this, she realized that Lyn couldn’t understand her gestures, and started writing her rebuttal furiously onto the page. Lauralyn waited as calmly as she could. Whatever she said, Lauralyn must keep herself this way. For the one who didn’t lose their heads in anger usually had the upper hand.

She watched her tare herself away from the block paragraph she had just written and read it through. It was true that it was a matter of survival. But it has become so much more than that. “Yes. Rape, murder, kidnapping. It happens everywhere, in every city. The world we live in is a violent one. But no where else is it celebrated.” She shook her head “If it is all for some noble cause to save our dwindling numbers, then why do we treat these women like trophies. Dress them up and flog them to the families to see which is the most beautiful, and then when they are dead and gone, toss them aside because they are not of our blood.” She shook her head a look of disgust on her face.

She had a lot more to say, but it would have to wait: People were starting to whisper, some having caught on to what she was saying, and she grew a little panicky. She jumped on the suggestion that they go elsewhere “Yes, please, let us go elsewhere” She said in a hushed town and go up from her chair, feeling a bit like a cornered prey. She his behind her hair as she left for the stairs. Luckily, no one else felt the need to hassle her.

Differing Opinions (Lauralyn)

Postby Sosicly Magnolia on November 17th, 2013, 7:11 pm

There was a little silence after Lauralyn agreed they should head out of the public eye. Obviously they both had more to say. Sosicly cancelled the snack, and hurried after Lauralyn, her slight frustration fading to be replaced with guarded interest. The phrase ignorance was bliss crossed her mind but she supposed she had passed that point awhile back. Once they had exited, Sosicly waved for Lauralyn to follow her. They would be fine at her own abode.

Hoping the the other girl would still follow, Sosicly lead them away from the red roads towards the usual color. The familiar routine almost making her forget she had a guest. But soon she recognized her our home, faded lines of color marred the outside from where she had not properly cleaned the vandals art. Still on the assumption that Lauralyn would not mind, Sosicly waved her towards the entrance and entered the house, unashamed of the its current state.

She herself had no problems finding a cup for Lauralyn that she filled with water from her waterskin, keeping the rest for herself. She also had no trouble getting the other woman a chair from the chaos while she herself sat comfortable on her table, the waterskin and book set on her crossed legs. Quietly Sosicly waited for Lauralyn to make herself comfortable then scribbled her book and held it up for the woman to see. You can continue, Krova, but I will say that I do not think they are celebrating their death, we don't care enough to do that. We are celebrating the life they gave us. Not kindly but wouldn't the kindness be a cruelty. She knew from experience that good intentions did not always mean good things. Many times she had been a victim of others kindness, of their pity. It was worse than when they ignored her. Sosicly grinned a bit, she thought Melina might agree with her.
